LOCATION
Casco Viejo (Casco Antiguo) or San Felipe, is the oldest city in Central America and at the heart and soul of Panamanian architecture. Its picturesque buildings, red brick cobblestone streets, and age-old religious landmarks were honored in 1997 when UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site.

The diverse sense of culture and history could be represented no place better. Take a leisurely walk where the colonial architecture, friendly people and ocean breezes are reminiscent of a step back in time. Plus, the restaurants and Cafe's in Casco Viejo are second to none in Panama City.

Casco Viejo is only minutes from the center of Panama City by Taxi even though you’ll have no desire to leave.

My wife and I visited Panama City in January, 2014. We spent 4 days in this unit, located in Casco Antiguo. The unit is just as advertised. Great location, for both nightlife and touring the entire city. The local restaurants were great, as the unit is located on Plaza Bolivar, next to the Presidential Plaza. Richard and Cristina did all they could to make our stay nice. I visited Casco for a day last year when I was in Panama, and had to come back here to soak in the beauty of the rehabilitation being done. Spend some time here, you will love it.

My friend and I just returned from a trip to Panama, having spent 5 nights in this lovely apartment. It was spacious, clean, and well appointed with nice bedrooms, kitchen, living room and bathroom, all as had been so accurately depicted in the listing. I especially loved sitting on the balcony at different times of the day and watching the local activity including the guards at the Presidential Palace and even got to see part of a ceremonial procession during a festival evening and another the following morning. The location is superb, next to Plaza Bolivar which is a gem with excellent restaurants and cafes open day and night. Casco Viejo houses a very fine museum, dedicated to the Canal, as well as churches, architecturally interesting buildings, Indian markets and several more restaurants and attractions. Richard and Cristina were very attentive to the few needs we did have. They had arranged for a van to pick us up at the airport when we arrived and the driver, John, was so nice that we hired him another day as driver and guide for the Gamboa Rainforest and Miraflores Locks. Everything about our stay at the Tribe was exceptional and I would certainly choose to stay here again on another visit and to recommend it to other travelers.

The property is as described. The location was perfect for exploring the historic part of the city. We used the Hop on Hop Off for two days and got a broad view of Panama. The Panama Canal tour is a great experience. We dined at many good restaurants. We especially enjoyed the L'Osteria, Tantalo,Pips and Ego and Narcisco. Don't miss a trip to the Fish Market. Try Capital Bistro Panama for after dinner drinks and a great view. The owner couldn't have been more helpful with arranging airport transfers and tour information.

Casco Viejo is torn to pieces, there is construction everywhere, but oh what wonderful work they are doing. The disparity between old falling down buildings and the restored is amazing, what a fascinating place. The apartment is just as represented, beautiful, spacious and right down the street from Simon Bolivar square, we spent mornings on the balcony, drinking coffee and watching tours enter the Presidential Palace. We loved it and would go back in a minute. Richard was kind, helpful and so pleasant to work with, it was just great!

Just back from a great vacation in Panama. Stayed at this apartment which has the charm of a modern apartment within a Spanish Colonial House. What you see in the photos is just what you get.The apartment is just two doors down from Plaza Bolivar a tranquil Plaza during the day that transforms at night when the owners of four excellent restaurants bring out their tables and chairs to serve their clientele. Restaurants are abundant all over Casco Viejo and the food is great at reasonable prices. You really can stay all your time just visiting the historic sites nearby, leaving Casco Viejo for the occasional trip for shopping or sightseeing in Panama City and the Canal Zone (which was what we did). Security is excellent as you are really next door to the Presidential palace as the building in front is part of the buildings that comprise the compound. You can walk at night in the surrounding streets without any problems as there are policemen almost at every corner. There is a massive reconstruction process all over Casco Viejo in the pursuit of restoring its charm to all the buildings in the area. Those of us that live near Old San Juan can just imagine how it will all be when all the process in finished but in the meantime this apartment and its surroundings is just excellent. The owner made arrangements for the taxi to pick us up at the airport and later return us to the airport without any problem. Service was great and the owner was just a call away in case we needed any information. If you want the charm of Old World with the amenities of today while in Panama City, look no further. This is the place to stay. We checked the area before going to Panama with Frommers and everything was just as it appeared in Frommers. Excellent just plainly excellent.

We loved it! Even when the power went out shortly in the Plaza (which is rare by the way) , noone skipped a beat. Waiters waited, diners dined, musicians sang, candles glowed and lit up the Plaza. This area is frozen in time and not to be missed. To own an Iphone while admiring the backgrop of an an area built in the 1500's is surreal. The locals loved the translation app! Some of the nicest people you willl ever meet. Visit Blain at Super G gourmet deli/ grocery for lunch and breakfast. We formed instant bonds with the locals. The apartment was clean and cool. Rick and Cristina took care of all of our needs. The location is superb. Steps from the Palace, and dining as well. Filled with history, but offers all of the modern amenities. Transportation is a breeze thanks to Rick and his staff. Will definitely return. Susan and Carl Hinebaugh

I love the location that Tribe is located in, Casco Viejo, the Spanish Colonial part of Panama city, and to be more specific the exact location of Tribe could not be better in this area. The owners are great and all of the staff is more than helpful and responsive to problems. The water went out for a bit because the city was doing some repairs and the staff did everything to make our stay comfortable, deliver drinking water, patch our shower system into a water supply they had on site, could not ask for more. Great place and great location.

Excellent and Outstanding: We truly enjoyed our stay in Casco Viejo (San Felipe), Panama City, Panama apartment property #351142. It was the perfect place! We found that the pictures were exactly as the apartment looked, except the actual apartment was bigger than we expected. The furniture and art within created a wonderful atmosphere. Everything was there that we needed when we got there. The building was historic and renovated. We loved the balcony, which reminded us of New Orleans. The view was great. We had an immediate response to our inquiry about renting the property and for any email concerns or questions which made us feel very happy, secure, and confident in our arrangements. We were provided with maps of the area via email and a contact person who was fluent in English and Spanish in the area. We believe that the rates were exceptionally good and although he could charge much more, this is one of the things that helped us choose this apartment over others. We enjoyed the Casco Viejo environment, which is very artistic and rich in history. There are many things to do there. In this area, we enjoyed an interesting and helpful tour, viewing the museum, great restaurants, and the beautiful crafts for shopping. People were helpful and courteous. Taxi drivers were always there if needed. In summary, we would definitely like to stay at this apartment again and highly recommend it to others as well.
