This gorgeous home is less than an hour from Austin and feels like you're far away from it all. It's quiet and has a great view of the river. It's close to hiking at Pedernales Falls State Park, and it's easy to get into Dripping Springs to buy groceries or anything else. We've been a couple times so far and want to go back. The owners are lovely and friendly, and the house -- especially the kitchen -- is really well equipped. If you like to cook, it's perfect. It's a great house for two couples traveling together, and when the indoor downstairs shower gets built it will be even better. The downstairs bathroom has a toilet and sink. There's a shower outside. And upstairs is a very nice full bath. Highly recommend this cabin.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We stayed at the house in October with three teenagers and our dog. All of us had great time. The house is located at the end of a road and it is very secluded. All you see from the road is the gate leading to the house. After you drive down the driveway you only see the house and the nature around it. We loved the property inside and out. It is a great place to relax and enjoy nature. The screened porch has a great view and the back porch the perfect place for morning coffee and reading. We hiked down to the river several times a day, the hike is not suitable for handicapped visitors or the elderly, but a perfect exercise for normal healthy individuals. Young children need be supervised. The roads in the area lend themselves for great walking and bicycling. The river was a bid low when we visited due to the severe drought, but still had enough water for us to have fun. Our teens never missed the TV, which was a big surprise to us. They stayed busy outside during the day and in the evening with the games available at the house. They played for hours on the game table. We love everything about the Place on the Pedernales and we can hardly wait to come back. The owners are wonderful!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank-you!!! I could not of said it any better!!!

The house was nice but did not deliver on the promises/description in the ad or on the website. There was no TV or even paper towels in the kitchen. Although there were claims of a full bath downstairs, there was no shower/tub. There was no water in the river and the climb down to the water was dangerous. There was a lot of debris around the house and on the grounds. It was not secluded as the barking dog right next door demonstrated. We went for a relaxing getaway and had more stress when we left. The owner was not too concerned when we spoke about the issues. I cannot recommend this house to anyone who cannot climb stairs or steep terrain.Owner response: Please review all info/pictures on vrbo & web page carefully. This will make for a less confusing situation. P.S. We have been blessed with natural springs. Yes, we have water even in the worst of droughts!!! Over your head in some spots!!!

We had such a wonderful time there. We were in the area for a wedding, all the bridesmaids, bride, and friends got ready there. There was so much room the pictures in my opinion due no justice it was so beautiful the house and the area. We couldn't get enough of this place, we are already in talks about going back again!! I couldn't thank Lisa Ann and Mike enough for the hospitality!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: There are several wedding venues close. La vista West, Hamilton Twelve, Lucy's camp, Tri-Star Ranch, & The Barn, to name a few. Just as Lisa say's, a great place to have small celebrations. Vineyards close are Bell Springs, Solaro, Drippings Springs, several in Johnson City and of course Fredricksberg. We are glad things were conveint for you.

We had a wonderful time and the house was great. There was 2 feet of water in the Pedernales just below the house but a 100 yds to the left, the water was over your head. Absolutely beautiful. The owners were very friendly. I would recommend this property for people who want to get away from the rat race and get back to nature.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank-you Paula for chosing our place to relax. What a pleasure meeting you & the family. Your son Charles jr. was a breath of fresh air! Smart, polite, could carry on a conversation, nature boy with common sence! We resonated with Paula & family because they are in the plant business, as we are! See you for our annual trip to New Orleans! P.S. Yes, we are going to help you build the extension on your greenhouse!!! LISA

The Place on the Pedernales is a wonderful vacation for anyone wishing to get away and enjoy the Hill Country's amazing nature and water. The house was lovely, fully equipped and comfortably sleeps 8. The owners are very kind and accommodating. I highly recommend this property for large or small groups.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: The Place on The Pedernales is only about an hr. from downtown Austin. Making it a place to come back to if you had business in Austin. From Wimberely it's about 45 minutes. Johnson City about 30 minutes, & Fredricksberg about 11/2 hrs. Winery's are in the area. I think most people, stop at the HEB in Dripping or eat at the fabulous EL REY Mexican Food (next to dollar general), then go to house and never leave! Just bring all your favorite goodies food & drink. If there is anything you don't have, please call 512-452-2424. We aim to please!!! Thank-you for enjoying it.

We live in Idaho and were planning a trip to Texas to visit our son and his family. We thought it would be fun to visit another area (he lives in Dallas) for a fun adventure. We booked this cabin and are so glad we did! There was plenty of space for the four adults and two children. The fans in the rooms kept them super cool at night. We loved the shower with the rock floor. The tree swing was a huge hit with the kids, as was the river. We were surprised at how much water there was and spent most of our time sitting in chairs in the river watching the kids play. It was a perfect getaway and we would highly recommend this beautiful "cabin" to anyone wanting a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: What a great treat to have out-of-towners! This is why we offer The Place on the Pedernales, so people can experience the hill country in all it's glory. Beautiful home with all the amenities, plus a private short walk to the private Pedernales River. Your own secluded spot on the Pedernales. Sitting in the middle with a drink. YEA! Sometimes the Texas heat takes awhile to get use to, so each room has its own portable fan you can place wherever makes you more comfortable. Got to LOVE the outside shower!!!

Went with family and friends (all adults) for Memorial day weekend. We had a wonderful time. Playing games around the big table, walks down to the river (bring river/water walking shoes), and my favorite, sitting on the lower deck/patio at night...swinging in the hammock, listening to nature uninterrupted by cars/planes/people was a treat. The river although low due to the lack of rain had some great swimming holes to lounge around. Dripping Springs is a cute town, close to lots of wineries. Overall a great vacation home and I hope to go back myself soon!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Sister Sarah, What a great family that knows how to enjoy themselves without TV, COMPUTERS, ETC... They came out and conquered!!! The whole crew took part in outside activites, games ,croquet, or SIMPLE RELAX AND TOOK IN THE NATURE, IMAGINE THAT!!! They made themshelves at home so much they rearranged some furniture and dishes. I LOVED IT! It was sooooo fun to walk into the house to clean& see the changes. I'm laughing like crazy typing this out! FUN TO BE HAD BY ALL. We are going to be getting a batmittion set soon. The best part of this review is Sister Sarah is already booked to return in a few months! Can't wait to have you here again!!!

What a wonderful stay!! I was in the 2nd upstairs bedroom with the bi-fold screen for a door. (Lisa, I love how you created this from quilts you had and how it looked like a river flowing!!) My sister stayed in the other upstairs room and I told her how my room reminded me of our Mamaw's old antique bedroom suite even down to the yellow velvet stool. WOW what wonderful memories that brought us back to!! I LOVE the staircase and the upstairs shower is BEAUTIFUL!!! The 4 of us girls stayed up late, giggled, laughed, cooked, took a daytrip to Fredricksburg and had THE time of our lives in your lovely home!! The walk down to the river was nice and the tranquil water was so very relaxing...thank you, thank you, thank you!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Hey Jojo girl, it's so nice to have the antiques that furnish this house be recognized. Thank-you so much. Some pieces are over 30 yrs. It does truly have the river feel. The house was designed around the Pedernales. We are all about the river. From the color on the walls to lights fixtures, to the Flint Stone River running in the upstairs bathroom! Because the house is so special, we are fortunate to have guest that appreciate it and treat it like there own. We thank everyone who's stayed here and will stay her for that! MEMORIES ARE WONDERFUL.! Thank-you for making some here!

For my 31st birthday, my family and I rented this wonderful house for the weekend. We live in Austin and it was so close yet so far away from the madness. We were 2 couples and a 3 year old and had more than enough room. About 50 yards downhill is the peaceful tranquility of the Pedernales River, where we spent most of our time. We cooked out and relaxed on the screened in porch, played poker and just enjoyed the moments of being disconnected to the city and reconnected to each other. We WILL go back! If you are looking for a weekend of unwinding in a fantastic house with the river just a few steps away, then this is your destination.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: As one drives down the road to get here, you know its going to be secluded. 20 minutes off 290. To the end of the road yes, close but so far away. Big plus for those that want to do some sight seeing. Close to several towns and all sort of different attractions, food to wines. Gosh, we've had birthdays, smaller reunions, and intimate weddings. I don't think we've had anyone with out a dog or kids. People seems to come out to RELAX and hear no noise pollution. I just wish somebody would leave me a piece of CAKE!
