What a wonderful time we had. Visited Joshua Tree National Park and then came home to the Godwin Ranch. Everything we needed and more. The ranch has great character and made our visit with our daughter unforgettable.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We stayed at the Adobe in 2007 for our honeymoon. It was an amazing experience. The Adobe was absolutely perfect - our own little piece of private paradise. The decor is beautiful. We would definitely stay at one of these rentals again in the future. The owner was very helpful and the rental process went smoothly (we live on the East Coast and had to arrange for the keys). Hope to get back there again someday.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

I’ve been meaning to contact you. We have friends that when they travel, go to the same place year after year. I NEVER thought I would be like that and always prided myself on going someplace different every time we travel (preferably in the desert though). Well, after staying at the Adobe, I can see ourselves there every year!! It was the ULTIMATE desert experience! We stayed up til the wee hours EVERY night just watching stars and listening to coyotes and owls by the firelight. It was absolutely perfect in every way and went above and beyond exceeding my expectations! Thank you so much to all of you that make this possible for people! I’ve enticed several friends by posting photos of our experience on facebook while we were there. And YES, I received the deposit refund. It’s been laying in a pile of mail since we got home. Thanks for jogging my memory. I took care of it yesterday. Thank you for the t-shirt too. Again, a million thank you for the ultimate vacation! About: I grew up in Hawaii, so I know about being connected to the natural life force of the land. I bought my first house in this area 14 years ago to use as a getaway with family and friends. They all said, "You're from Hawaii; what are you doing in the desert?" But the desert is very much like Hawaii; nature has been supported, not paved over. I soon started to rent out that house, buy others in the area, and now I own 12 desert homes that I rent out through my company, Joshua Desert Retreats.
Why Joshua Tree:
This area has become a destination for artists, but it seems like everyone in Southern California at one time or another growing up has gone camping in Joshua Tree National Park, so we get a lot of ex-campers, too. This house technically isn't in any town, and getting to it requires driving along a dirt road. The town of Twentynine Palms is home to the main entrance of Joshua Tree National Park and only 15 minutes away.
