It's very centrally located , The cottage is in a quiet , exclusive residential neighborhood ,called Vista Marina . It's close to Downtown and yet near to the many great beaches along the Western Coast .It's a 10 minutes Jitney bus ride to the hotels/casino at Cable Beach , Tourist are welcome and pay cash - para- sailing , jet -skis , pools bars etc . I love the jitneys . They're a great means of getting anywhere for $1.25 and meeting Bahamians .
Getting Downtown takes 10 minutes, and they run every 10 mins. or so . Getting to a supermarket is just as easy - a 10 minute jitney , or there's a convenience store/gas station ,200 metres away.
If you like , you can do what I do every moning - walk the 100 yds. to the beach and sit on the bench and drink coffee - it's really beautiful - spectacular view and no people ! THe beach has restrooms and outdoor showers , as well as a children's playground .
Year Purchased: 2009
About: Your host, Stuart, has lived on the property for seventeen years and is a retired professor of English.
A Bahamian, born in Wales, enjoys helping the visitor to appreciate Nassau and to optimize their experience as a guest and not a tourist. He can arrange a hassle-free pick up at the airport as well as getting a good car rental deal or taxi rides with drivers he knows and trusts . He lives in the main house on the property and is discreetly available for any useful info.
Why Nassau: It's Architecture is in the centuries old colonial / tropical style.
It is designed for 'living on your porch'. It's in a large property with lots of lush vegetation , so it's pretty private .With a 95% perfect climate and constant sea breeze, why not?
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: Its' location and its' relative isolation away from traffic . Sometimes , I just take my coffee and walk the fifty metres to the beach in the morning . The beach is soft sand and perfect for swimming . It's 2000 feet long and divided up into several separate bays . Most visitors are surprised at how few people use the beach . Bahamians rarely like beaching between the end of October and the end of April , the next year
Many days , I just walk along the beach path to Downtown , through the ' Fish Fry ' native restuarant area , and past another stunning beach . This beach has a closeup view of the cruise ships at dock . I've include shots of this in the photo selection .
