Welcome to our Cape Cod Retreat! Tucked away in the natural environs of the National Seashore in historic North Eastham, Massachusetts, our bright and clean home offers four bedrooms, two bathrooms and an outdoor shower. Our newly renovated common living-dining room is spacious with a long farmers table that can seat up to 12 people comfortably and a comfy sectional sofa that provides a place for the family to sit together to play a board game or to watch a movie. Our large, sunlight-flooded kitchen has been recently updated with under-mounted sink and granite countertops. If you are a foodie you’ll love cooking a meal in this space. With it's comfy arm chairs and early morning sun pouring in, this where we love to sit with a cup of coffee and read of the morning paper. The deck off the kitchen is shaded by oaks and sea pines. It's a wonderful place to cook (on a Webber Gas Grill) and eat, or share a libation on a warm summer day. On cool evenings, we find ourselves drawn to our farmer’s porch that stretches across the front of our house. We’ve discovered recently that night-time mosquitoes are infrequent visitors of homes on the Oceanside of the Cape, unlike the more marshy inlets of the Bayside. We have a large yard with swing set and plenty of room for off-street parking (room for a boat).

September Weekend stay

We stayed here with our 9 month old and another couple with their daughter. We all enjoyed the stay, rooms were a great layout on the 2 floors for 2 families. And there is plenty of room for our families to expand and still both be able to visit. There were tons of attractions close & I'm sure in our brief stay we didn't even see a fraction of what the area has to offer. The nearby beach was great & slow during our stay (which was nice with the kiddos) driving up to p-town for a day trip was fast & easy. We are looking forward to going again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our stay at the Mucho Gusto Hideaway was fun, relaxing, comfortable and centered in a convenient location to many attractions on the Cape. We stayed there for two weeks, spending part of our stay with just the two of us and part of the stay being joined by our adult children. Everyone had a wonderful time. The house is clean, modern and very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked! The beds are plentiful and comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and convenient for every guest. Having said that, we all enjoyed our showers in the outdoor shower! This house is just down the road from the bike path. We took numerous bike rides while staying there. The house is also within a mile of many beautiful beaches, both ocean and bayside. Orleans is a short drive in one direction and Provincetown a short drive in the other direction. Wellfleet is not far and we found ourselves going there to explore the restaurants and the fabulous used book store! This house has a beautiful shaded front porch for sitting in the morning or evening. There is also a deck on the side of the house for grilling and eating out. There is a back yard with a playscape for young children. The location is quiet and off the beaten path but close to all the attractions. We would recommend this house to anyone and would return here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: We both grew up and have lived in Massachusetts up until recently, when we moved to Long Island, NY with our 3 young children when John began a new job.
Why the Owner Chose Eastham:
We both vacationed in Cape Cod as children and, for the past 15 years, we have spent our summer vacations at a relative's home on the lower Cape. We've loved spending our vacations there as a young couple, hanging at the spectacular beaches of the National Seashore during the day and checking out the great restaurants and night life in Wellfleet and Provincetown. More recently, we started to come with our babies and spent our time at the gentle waters and sea shells of the bay beaches and especially the warm, clear spring waters of the kettle ponds where our little ones could play safely for hours at the water's edge. With little ones we've also become very familiar with the great mini-golf and soft serve ice cream joints, the wonderful children's theatre in Brewster and exploring the beautiful, peaceful trails on the Wellfleet Audubon, although with 3 noisy kids in tow, we don't see as many birds as we used to! The lower Cape feels like home to us; an utterly peaceful home where we can take a deep breath, feel the Cape Cod breeze, and spend wonderful moments with family and friends. So, when we moved to New York, we knew that, even though it was a bit farther for us to drive, we couldn't buy a vacation home anywhere else.
We love the North Eastham area because it has a very rural, quiet feel to it. When we're biking or driving down our street and all the beach roads around us, we feel like we're far away from civilization. Yet, when we do want to venture out and find some civilization for fun or practical reasons, we're on Route 6 in a minute and can head a few minutes in either direction for all of our favorite spots.
We also love having the option of going to the ocean beaches for the big thrilling waves and the dunes or across the road to the bay beaches, where we can watch the sunset on the water. Great Pond is also just a few minutes away, so we can pop over there after the beach for a refreshing swim.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
When we found the 'Mucho Gusto Hideaway', which was aptly named by our 6 year old daughter, we knew this was the place for us. The charming farmer's porch grabbed us immediately and it has turned out to be great spot to hang out and grab the morning sun with a cup of coffee and enjoying some margaritas and chips and salsa as the sun is setting. The home has enough room for us to be comfortable, give everyone space for a little privacy, and to welcome family and friends. We also love to cook and entertain, so we loved the newly renovated large kitchen and the open feeling of the dining and living room area.
We were very excited to see the outdoor shower and the deck off the kitchen. The big yard allows our kids to run around and explore for hours and we enjoy the view of the gorgeous hydrangea bushes.
The proximity to the bike path has been a great bonus of our location! We can go for a walk or jog there in the morning and the family can hop on our bikes and ride to many destinations without having to deal with the dangers of the traffic on Route 6.
The 'Hideaway' is a very special place for our family and since we bought it last year, we have been (and are still) lovingly renovating, decorating and appointing our home, to create a clean, comfortable and peaceful space in which we and our guests can spend our precious (and all too rare) vacation time.
