In the Mountains Close to Denver
In the Mountains Close to Denver
My family, Wife and 2 teen boys are all Huge Denver Bronco fans and we come to Denver at least twice per year from N Platte NE to go to Football games. We always stayed in Denver Hotels but this Summer we decided to check out some places in the Mountains that were close enough to Denver to still be a short enough drive to the football stadium in Denver. We heard about VRBO and Homeaway and on the first try found this Cottage witch is way high up in the mountains but less than an hour Drive to Denver/. My wife really liked the full kitchen, the Deck and how clean it was when we arrived. Me and the boys went fishing at Evergreen Lake and then we took a drive from Evergreen to the Football stadium to see how far it would be. This is the place we comming to 2 time this fall once in Oct and again in December. We can't wait to get back and have another Mountain vacation and see the Broncos. Micheal, the owner has be very helpful getting us all the information we need for make sure our trips go well this fall. And another good thind is the beds. They are as confortable as any expensive hotel and the place has its own laundry which is a big help for our family. You should try this place. Jim and Family from N Platte Ne.

We did find drive a bit remote our first trip into the house, but as we ventured out daily it really was not that remote..... quiet, serene & gorgeous. I imagine in winter it is a snowy paradise. We met friends who flew in from Phoenix & we drove out from San Diego, CA. This proved to be a great place to stay while we went to shows each of three evenings at Red Rocks about a half hour to 40 minute drive each way. Definitely much nicer than staying in Denver. Beautiful house furnished very comfortable & very clean. Thank you.

Another Beautiful Week in Evergreen
Another Beautiful Week in Evergreen
Our stay at Fawn trail for one week at the end of January was, as always, very special. The cottage was very clean, the scenery absolutely beautiful and Michael was a phone call away if we needed anything. There was snow almost every day, but as long as you have a four wheel or all wheel drive vehicle, you can go anywhere. So very peaceful sitting at the kitchen table with the shades drawn up looking at the snow as it covers the gorgeous evergreens. This was a favorite spot for Granddad and our 2 yr old granddaughter. Fawn Trail works beautifully for us because we have family on the "mountain", but even if one just wants to get out into the country away from city living for a weekend, this is the place to go.

Owner response: Dorothy & Jeff thank you so much for your time to write this very gracious review. It is always so pleasent to stop by and say hello to you both during your visits. We appreciate your repeat stays at the Fawn Trail Cottage and look forward to your next visit as your Grandaughter continues to grow up in Evergreen. Sincerely Michael
My friends and I were looking for an affordable way to see Colorado. Fawn Trail cottage absolutely blew us away. The only worried feeling I had going in were the few negative reviews. But it's impossible to please everybody. Spacious, clean, and quality are 3 terms I would use to describe it.. you're on a bit of a mountain but that's what makes this experience so great. We are from Tennessee and the nearby city of evergreen reminded me alot of Gatlinburg, TN - Minus the annoying tourism aspect. Evergreen was a great town to visit and I couldn't get over how kind everybody was. Michael was absolutely the same way and a joy to rent from. Very nice conversational guy, obviously passionate about getting people to enjoy colorado through his cabin rentals. This rental is good for all ages and close to Loveland Ski - great resort with amazing views. We also easily enjoyed downtown Denver as well. There's nothing to complain about with this rental - and a lot to get excited about.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY!
GREAT PLACE TO STAY!
My boyfriend and I rented this cabin along with one other couple for a wedding in early October. The cabin was beautiful, and in great condition. I believe the photos do not do the cabin justice, as I though it was absolutely perfect. The drive is not at all bad from Denver, and the scenery is truly magical. The owners were very friendly and accommodating and made our booking and stay very convenient! All of the appliances were top notch, and the living room was even stocked with CD's and movies for entertainment! My only complaint would be that we couldn't stay longer. Cannot wait until our next visit!

2 months in Fawn Trail Cottage
2 months in Fawn Trail Cottage
We stayed here for 2 months this summer, and it was a very positive experience. The cabin is modern -- nicely decorated in southwest colors, plus a new looking washer and dryer. We arrived at dusk, and lights were turned on for us, wildflowers were in a vase, and dog bisquits were there for our dog! The cabin was spotless. It's on a mountain, with beautiful trees all around (coming from the Phoenix area, it was a special treat!). It is secluded, but other cabins are nearby so you don't feel alone or remote. Daily we saw deer (inluding fawns) and often saw a fox run by. When you stay someplace for 2 months, things are bound to come up, but Michael, Emerson and Joyce were very responsive. Anything we needed, they got for us; if something broke, they immediately fixed it. Yes, it's a bit of ride to and from town -- especially the last 5 minutes on the dirt road -- but when you're on vacation do you really want to be in a crowded neighborhood or with all the traffic? (fyi -- we looked at cabins/houses closer to town, and for similar pricing they aren't anywhere near as nice. The photo of one looked nice on the internet...and maybe it was nice inside... but when we drove by it, the neighborhood was shabby and run-down, and houses were real close to each other.) Michael does a great job of maintaining these cabins. It was a wonderful 2 months in the mountains of Colorado -- thank you Michael, Joyce and Emerson!

Owner response: Carol it was such a pleasure to Host your stay this Summer. Emerson, Joyce, and I so much enjoyed your company and the loving playful nature of your delightful doggie. Your time to compose this very thoughtful review is greatly appreciated. We do hope you will visit us again on your next trip to Colorado when you visit your son in Denver. Again thanx so much. All of our lives have been enriched by our mutual association. Sincerely Michael
I disagree with most reviews here, and also question their veracity, as you'll notice the writing style is quite similar to that of the owner (incorrect capitalization, uncertainty on punctuation). On the positive side, I will say that nothing the owner claims is untrue. Nothing was promised and went undelivered.... However, in the past three summers I have rented over a dozen cabins, and this was the most disappointing. The cabin is acceptable, but the moment you enter it's clear that shortcuts were taken to maximize owner profit. Let's start with the small stuff ... both hand soap and dish soap were watered down, to the point that there was water floating within the dispensers. There was barely, barely, enough laundry detergent to do a single load. Many other sundry items were virtually empty. So immediately we had to haul the 25 minutes (each way!) back to the nearest store to buy legit sundries. We've never rented a place so cheaply accommodated. The most egregious example of shortcuts were the bedsheets. Like sleeping on newspaper. We immediately washed them with the detergent and fabric softener we had purchased, to no avail. Low-quality bedsheets lead to low-quality sleep. The comforter was decent quality, but desperately needed a cleaning. You get the impression the comforter is not washed often, so whatever the prior guest did to it, you're inheriting those germs. Another example is the television. Yes, there's a television. A whopping 15-incher that you're watching from 6-12 feet away. And you're relying strictly on antenna reception (Hello 1983!) in a remote area. On a good day, you may receive 10 channels, most of which are some strange set of religion shows. Most days, you'll have 2-6 channels that get questionable reception at best. Yes, this is a cabin in the woods, so you're not renting it to watch TV. But at the end of even the most active day, we like to chill and watch television for a few minutes. Pure frustration here. While it's nice that the owner does not charge you for cleaning (our cleaning deposit was refunded in full, which we appreciated), the cabin desperately needs professional cleaning. Every window is covered with cobwebs. By the way, half the windows can't be opened ... we presume because the owner has not bothered to replace screens. Worst of all, any ambience the cabin offers is destroyed because of the huge placards of instructions/rules on every wall, every space. Buy a binder for all this info ... it's not art

Owner response: As a prospective guest we ask you to read deep into our long list of 5 Star Guest reviews and you will find a very different story than presented by our valued guest from Florida. Our homes are impecably clean and are inspected by me personally prior to each guest Chk-in and we take issue with our guest from Florida's erroneous observtions. Our bed sheets are all 400 to 500 count and all of our beds are high end Beauty Rest or Denver Mattress Durango. We have received countless compliments on the quality of sleep provided by our High end Bedding. We, I, personally remove any "Cob Webs" from the Residence prior to a guests chk-in, yet in a rural area one must know that a new cob web or 2 can appear in the next hour after one has been removed. The day after this guests arrival we received an E-mail stating that "The Place was fabulous" The above Guest Review does not square with the feed back we received from this guest during the visit. We apologize to our guest for the obvious anxiety he experienced by his observation that we, in our many communications to him, mis-spelled words and used incorrect grammar; this apparent obsession to point out imperfections, is represented in the long list of questionable and some untrue items pointed out in his review. One example of an absolute lie is "half the windows do not open ". There are 10 windows in this home and only 2 are fixed and do not open. And last I might say that our location from downtown Evergreen; "8 miles, or a 15 min drive" is well communicated in our listing, e-mailed driving directions, and property address provided to our guests prior to reservation confirmation. We had extensive phone and E mail discussion with this guest on the location of the home and how it would fit his stated desire "to be in a remote, quiet Wilderness Location". As this guest stated "On our next visit we will find a Rental Much Closer to Evergreen" We would suggest to our propective guests that if you want to be in the hustle and bustle of the city, as apparently our friend from Florida would more enjoy, that you select Lodging in a Location other than the quiet solitide of our Pristine Wilderness Location. For a Discussion of this review or any related topics while you research your Evergreen Colorado Lodging Options please call me anytime. We take our reviews very seriously and will diligently address items in this review that have merit. Sincerely Michael - owner and on-site Lodging Host
Wow We came to hike and relax in the Rockies and got a real Bonus at this beautiful Evergreen Colorado vacation Cottage. We saw wildlife everyday from our kitchen window, bedroom window and both porches. We saw Red fox, black foxes, male female and baby Elk, and very large deer.. We hiked till we couldn't walk any more in the fabulous local mountain parks. The day we arrived Michael sat down with us an outlined a series of hikes for our stay that was right on. By the way no need to go to Rocky Mtn Nat park as Mt Evans Wilderness is right outside of Evergreen and has a paved road that goes all the way to the summit at $14,400 ft The cottage is beautiful, well equipped very clean and Michael was very professional during the reservation process and very helpful to insure we had all the information we needed to experience a vacation that exceeded our expectations. We will be back soon Thank you Michael

Owner response: Louise, thank you for taking the time to submit your review about your Winter Getaway at the "Fawn Trail Cottage" We were so pleased that you were able to take advantage of our Winter "Romantic Special" of "Reserve 2 nights and get a 3rd Night Free". And we were please that we were able to switch your reservation from "Evergreens Log Cabin" (HomeAway # 156204) to the "Fawn Trail Cottage" which has less stairs to travel and thus was easier for your husband to negotiate after his injury the day before check-in. We look forward to your return visit. Sincerely Michael
The aspen trees in the "back yard" we're a blaze during our stay ... Colorado at its best. The cottage was very comfortable for 5 adults. Clean and well appointed. Internet worked great. It's about an hour to downtown Denver, but the drive through the foothills is gorgeous. We would stay there again next time the opportunity arises.
