  We did find drive a bit remote our first trip into the house, but as we ventured out daily it really was not that remote..... quiet, serene & gorgeous. I imagine in winter it is a snowy paradise. We met friends who flew in from Phoenix & we drove out from San Diego, CA. This proved to be a great place to stay while we went to shows each of three evenings at Red Rocks about a half hour to 40 minute drive each way. Definitely much nicer than staying in Denver. Beautiful house furnished very comfortable & very clean. Thank you.

  The aspen trees in the "back yard" we're a blaze during our stay ... Colorado at its best. The cottage was very comfortable for 5 adults. Clean and well appointed. Internet worked great. It's about an hour to downtown Denver, but the drive through the foothills is gorgeous. We would stay there again next time the opportunity arises.

  A few weeks ago my family and I planned to visit the Eastern slopes of Colorado. Because we wanted to visit several areas in that vicinity, we decided to rent a cabin in the Evergreen area. After researching several options we decided upon the Fawn Train Cottage. From the pictures and description on the website it seemed to meet our needs. Upon arrival, the cottage was everything we hoped for. In mint condition it is a cozy, rustic cabin nestled in the Evergreen Mountain area. Sturdy, queensized beds,plenty of drawer and closet space to unpack clothes, and nice size rooms offered comfortable sleeping arrangements. A washer/dryer allowed us to do laundry when needed and each night we could relax in a spacious living room complete with wood stove. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the conveniences of home! We even had WiFi! Michael Carter, the proprietor, went out of his way to provide us with anything we needed. He even brought a shower chair to accommodate my handicapped daughter. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Evergreen area. We hope to return again someday.

  We live in Denver and My sister and her 9 year old son is visiting from Florida for the Month of Sept and we, includuing my 10 year old Black Lab, decided to go tho the Mountains to see the Aspens turn. When we googled cabins in Colorado we came upon Michaels Web site and found the Fawn Trail Cottage. This was my first time to rent an actual house on the internet. What a pleasent surprise. The Fawn Trail Cottage is less than an hour from my home in Downtown Denver and the drive is really beautiful. The Cottage is much nicer than the on line photos and it has everything you need. We found it to be perfectly clean and ready for us when we arrived. We saw, Elk, Deer, a Black and a Red fox all right out the window of the Cottage. We griiled on the Gas Grill and enjoyed the stars at night. Oh, and another really important thing, the beds were awsome, very comfortalble, not like a lot of cheapies you find when you rent a cabin. Michael stopped by and directed us to one of his favorite close by local hiking trails "Maxwell Falls" where the Aspens we in full bloom..Thank You Michael, My Nephew will never forget his trip to the Mountains - We will be back - Susan in Denver Colorado

   *WARNING*... I have rented many cottages, cabins, homeaway/vrbo type rentals while traveling in Colorado & elsewhere and unfortunately, this is my first negative experience. We stayed here because we were in town to honor my grandparents who's ashes are scattered at a nearby lake in the mountains. Because of this, I (and my entire extended family) visit Evergreen often but will NEVER use these cabins again and I will continue spreading the word about such a poor ending to our stay. * I predict the owner to respond to this negative review in defensiveness & will claim fallacies & point to his "positive feedback rating" which I believe to be manipulated by him in some fashion. Regardless, I know the truth in this situation, I rest easy knowing I upheld my end of the deal with my honesty & good character in-tact. The owner cannot speak the same in his actions. 1. You are expected to wash the bed linens (one of many chores expected of you) prior to check-out. We did but, not to the owners liking. He charged our credit card claiming we ruined the mattress cover. 2. Yard surrounding the unit was littered with old dog feces. I travel with my five-year-old son & my two dogs and don't want them encountering dog feces. 3. You are expected to complete a list of chores in order to get a cleaning deposit back. We scrubbed down the cabin, left it in cleaner condition than we found it. However, the owner kept our cleaning deposit claiming we didn't leave the rental as we found it when I know 100% that we left the unit (and yard), the dishes, the carpets, etc cleaner & tidier than we found it. When asked to provide a list of how the rental was not properly cleaned, he refused to provide one. 4. Waaaay out in the middle of nowhere. Takes a long time (& gas) to get there. Consider what you'll pay in gasoline to get there. I suggest finding closer to downtown. The drive isn't worth it. I suspect, based on our experience, that this is the scheme the owner uses to keep cleaning deposits. In truth, he should have paid us to stay at this unit because we cleaned the cabin with more attention to detail than any cleaning service could have. We spent the entire morning cleaning up not because of the deposit but because we wanted to respectfully follow the rules. Unfortunately, the owner doesn't have the same ethics.

We encourage you to read a radom selection of the over 200.posted. 5 of 5 rated reviews on our 8 Homeaway and VRBO listed Evergreen Colorado Vacation homes. No where will you find mention of us retaining our 100% refundable Housekeeping Damage and Security Deposits. This is the only guest during our 2012 Lodging Summer Season for whom we found it nessesay to retain the Deposit. The Home was left absolutly filthy. Contrary to this guests claim we 'Do Not:" Require our guest to do any Laundry. We have a posted sign that says "If you have time before you check out please put soiled sheets and towels in the Washing Machine, add Laundry detergent, and start the Machine" What we found when we entered the home was evan more shocking than this guest erroneous claim that we require our guests to do laundry; Every surface and appliance in the Kitchen had food leavings and food stains, the oven had food leavings, and the Refrigerator and floors were sticky with food spills. The bathroom was filled with human and dog hair on every surface, while the toilet was stained and splatted. For some reason the guest had stripped one of the beds of the mattress cover, and placed it in the dryer on high heat and it melted. Yes the home is, and described in our listing, 8 miles from Downtown Evergreen. In the review our guest complained about the location. This location information is well described & communicated in our listings before reservation confirmation. Our Pristine Wilderness setting location is one of the very positive ammenities of our Vacation Homes; If you are a prospective traveler, such as this guest, who would be more comfortable with lodging in a concentrated urban setting we would encourage you to find lodging other than our Wilderness Setting. We will not be intimidated by this guests vicious attacks on our ethics, and business practices. We stand on the merits of our many past guest who have returned numerous times to the Fawn Trail Cottage. Again, your reading of our many past guest reviews about thier experiences at our Beautiful, Very Clean, Quiet, Secluded, Affordalbe, Fawn Trail Cottage will tell you more than we could ever claim.   My husband, daughter, her dog and I recently spent several nights in this lovely home. We wanted to be near Red Rocks, as we were going to a concert, but also wanted the space to spend some special time together. The house had all we needed and more. Within the first hour of our stay, we saw elk, fox and deer. We enjoyed the full kithchen as well as the grill outside. Evergreen was also a lovely city with lots to do for us and the dog. Thank you Michael for all you did to help make our stay so memorable.

  Our family of 4 really enjoyed the peaceful retreat at the Fawn Trail Cottage. It was comfortable and spacious, clean, and nicely furnished. You really feel away from it all there, yet close proximity to Denver. Perfect location! Big bathroom and laundry. Nice wood stove. Lots of windows to enjoy the wildlife and views. We will be back.

  We stayed in this cottage during a trip from western Canada for 2 concerts at the Red Rocks Ampitheatre. What a great location and cottage. Evergreen is a lovely little town with all the services you could ask for. The 7 mile, 15 minute drive from the town to the cottage was mountain driving at its best. We had deer and hummingbirds in our yard almost daily. A great vacation spot!

  Fawn Trail met all of our expectations. It had all the comforts of home with a mountain retreat setting. My idea of camping! The photos and description of the cabin were spot on. Evergreen is a great little town with interesting shops, but we were too busy with day trips to spend much time there. Although we never met Michael in person, he was very helpful and accommodating in our communications.
