All bedding, towels and a fully furnished kitchenette are part of your vacation home on the Big Island! Just bring yourself and pick up some groceries!
This private, bright, clean, very quiet studio with kitchenette and luxurious bath is the downstairs of an elegant Bali home. You will have a private entrance, your own carport, yard area and small lanai to have your morning coffee or tea. Leilani Estates is one of the safer, upscale areas on the East Side of the Big Island and all roads are paved (important on the Big Island where many roads and streets are rough dirt).
The house is set in a private acre of lawns and rainforest with tall ferns, orchids, anthuriums and a wide variety of other Hawaiian flora outside your windows. You will be close to the ocean, the black sand beach, the natural geo-thermal 'hot pond', volcanic steam baths, the flowing lava viewing area, a couple of miles to the wide variety of wonderful restaurants and shops in 'Old Town' Pahoa and an easy drive to historic downtown Hilo.
Join us in a meditation…take a walk…just sit in the sun…go see the lava flowing or hang out in “hot pond” or surf at the nearby local surf spot! Oh, so much to see and do here...or just relax and 'do nothing'!
Or you can choose to have a session on the property in a lovely session studio overlooking a private garden. Options include Infrared Sauna or Reiki or Foot Reflexology or a Pampering Session which is a 10 step facial using only certified organics skin care products! Or choose 'The Works'--an hour and a half session including all modalities and float back to your unit!
$50 per day (2 day minimum) includes high speed wireless internet, local & long distance phone, etc. Weekly rate is $300 and monthly rate is $900. Additional cleaning fee of $30.
Let’s chat and talk about what you are looking for and we can discuss availability of the studio and deposit requirements. Call for information - 808-965-0999

Two weeks at Nishta's studio was NOT enough and I shall return soon! Nishta had fresh local fruit and an arrangement of gorgeous anthuriums waiting in the studio when I checked in, as well as all the organic bath amenities I could hope for. Fluffy towels, a comfortable bed, good reading lights, plenty of seating, KE OLA magazine and other local information made the studio very "spa like". I availed myself of "THE WORKS" as she calls her combination Reiki, reflexology, and facial sessions three times and would have had more sessions if time had permitted. I was on Hawai'i on business and each day was full. The studio is clean and has everything needed to settle in and and be comfortable for a few days...or a few months. Nishta knows where all the good markets, restaurants, and local "secrets" are located, and her neighbors and friends are charming. I was able to join a Chi Kung class with her twice a week (no cost), saw the beautiful jewelry and beadwork she creates, and participated in a class at a nearby yoga/permaculture center with her. Located near Pahoa, the warm and champagne ponds, and the volcano, this is an ideal setting. With the newly renovated Saddle Road, a trip to Kona or up to Waimea is an easy out-and-back journey an Hilo is close by, although you can probably get everything you need (including souvenirs) in Pahoa. Nishta's dog and two cats, Honi Honi, Pooba, and Paka were there to greet me each time I came back and that was nice, because I missed my own dogs and cats. Everything was as promised and photographed, and even nicer and I think you will thoroughly enjoy your stay in the studio...I just hope YOU don't want to rent it when I DO!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+.

I absolutely agree Nishta's studio is a hidden gem in the lush world of the Puna district. It's our first time to Hawaii and we chose the big island and Nishta's place. It's not a luxurious getaway but we had 4 nights of simple and happy life in Nishta's place. Our experience proved what we saw from the descriptions/pictures and previous reviews. It's a place closed to lots of nature adventures including the award-winning warm pond :) - it's ranked my wife's favorite as she's not a big fan of swimming. Nishta is such a charming and warm-hearted lady. I wish we could stay longer! Thanks Nishta, from Jerry & AricyRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Aloha Jerry & Aricy, And I very much enjoyed your delight and pleasure as we walked around the property, especially your thinking the flower arrangement in your unit wasn't real...yes, I too had never seen such amazing natural growing plants and flowers before moving here. I also very much enjoyed those little sweet rice sticks you found at the big Hilo farmers market, there is always something new to find there. Thanks! And thanks for choosing to stay here; I hope you can come back soon! Much Aloha, Nishta

A neat little open air jungle cottage. It is in a beautiful corner of Hawaii that most people never see. Nishta was a good host, very helpful and a really sweet person. Very cool place for a couple that loves nature and wants to expeirience the real Hawaii.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for your review...yes, this area is not what the average person thinks of when they think of Hawaii...this is wild tropical rainforest, lava fields and wonderful lava-fed hot ponds and lovely ocean and waterfalls, but Puna is one of the most prolific farming areas. Our many farmer's markets attest to that. We can literally survive on all the food grown on this part of the island: taro, breadfruit, citrus, papayas, bananas, avocados, macadamia nuts and all of the tropical fruits I never heard of before moving here, like surinam cherry, lychees, rambutan, mountain apple, etc., etc. Then all the ground vegetable crops that grow amazingly well. It is a place where you can just stick a twig in the ground and a year later have a lovely flowering tree. And we must not forget the coffee and cocao plantations. I love it here and I am so glad you enjoyed your visit here; do come back!! Much Aloha, Nishta

this place was a hidden gem in the rain forest south of pahoa... windows all around to bring in the view of the flowers and jungle plants... i especially liked the soaking tub with a view of nature.... conveniently located ten minutes from the warm pond down on the ocean and not far from a trip to the volcano national park... nishta was charming and very welcoming... it was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary and attend the merry monarch festival only twenty minutes from hilo... will definitely come here againRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Aloha, Appreciate your kind thoughts and loved your description of the place, really describes it well. I too love this location between the ocean (and the natural thermal "warm pond" and Hilo...feels like the best of all worlds. Look forward to your return to the island and to your being here again... A hui hou (til we meet again) Nishta

We had a great time at Nishta's. It was the perfect size for our small family (4 month old baby) and it was really nice to be surrounded by rainforest and the sound of croaking frogs at night. Location was good too - a short drive to the Kapoho tide pools (best snorkeling on the island - go at high tide and swim out to the waves) and the Ahanalui warm pond. Thanks Nishta!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks for your review...it helps others have a greater sense of the place to hear comments like yours and hear about your experience at the tide pools and the warm pond. Yes, they are really just a short drive from our property...and it was a delight to have you and the baby here. Melia surpassed my expectations in being such a good baby! A hui hou (until we meet again!) Warm regards, Nishta

This studio is great for any couple or single person looking for an affordable and unique place to stay. The location is very accessible, though the studio feels nice and secluded (all the windows look out into a beautiful rainforest garden). It was very easy for us to get to the volcano, Hilo, and the geothermal pool. The studio was also very close to the lava viewing area that we went to at night (outside the national park). Nishta is very friendly and left us lots of great resources for exploring the area. She also gave us a delicious fruit basket with the best avocado we've ever eaten! Thanks, Nishta!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Was happy to hear you both enjoyed your stay here and one of my reasons for living here is the close proximity of the ocean, the thermal "hot pond" and tide pools, the lava flow, Kehena Black Sand Beach and all the shops and dining spots located just five minutes away. And then there is the amazing tropical foliage everywhere...It truly is a wondrous part of the world! Hope to see you back here soon! :>) Nishta

Cozy and thoughtfully appointed, the hostess with the mostest will help you with any details to make your stay better. We liked the books she had out for us, the coffee and candies, the bath tub practically outside. It is centrally located, close to town and beach without being busy. A nest in the jungle, complete with closet, kitchenettes, antherium all around. You get a lot for your dollar. Have a blast! We especially loved the warm pool.Recommended for: People with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Aloha and mahalo for your kind review! As you could tell, I do enjoy sharing the magic of this side of the Big Island with others and enjoy meeting folks from ALL over! Have been here years and am still in awe of the amazing plants and flowers on this property! And yes, that deep bathtub is special, I take advantage of it whenever the studio is not rented! Wishing you many blessings for the coming year! Aloha, Nishta

We stayed a while in this Peacful part of Paradise. I had a foot refexology session with Nishta. I was delighted with the results. A few week later I returned for another session. It was completely amazing. I have never been so relaxed in my life. I highly recommend a foot session with Nishta while you are her guest. You will not be dissapointed. I am 77 years old. When my husband saw me after my second session. He asked me if I had also had a facial. I said no. He said that my face was glowing and I look 10 years younger. So When you come for your visit to Paradise, you would be remiss if you did not take advantage of her wonderful healing hands.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Hello Emma, Thanks SO much for your comments on my rental and my personal sessions. I do love to pamper my clients and find myself going into a meditative space when working on people. Perhaps next time we will have to test this out and actually give you a facial as well as the foot reflexology and see what your husband's response is then :>) Much Aloha to you! Nishta

Searching for the perfect, private spot for a rainforest retreat? Look no further. Cozy, furnished, WiFi, hammock, amazing bathroom... this comfy cottage, nestled amidst the vibrant flowers, tree ferns, and jungle canopy, has it all. Fall asleep to the sound of raindrops and coqui frogs, wake up to endless possibilities- it’s a quick drive to the warm springs, Hilo, or an amazing hike around the volcano’s ridge. Nishta, the property hostess, is well-connected to the neighborhood- she is a wealth of information, and soon becomes a helpful friend. What better recommendation than to say, “We loved our week-long stay and we’ll be back!”Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: You know, it was delightful to host you both here...I feel like I have some new friends, the connection was lovely and I look forward to seeing you again! Wishing you many blessings this holiday season and much joy in the coming year! Me Ke Aloha Pumehana, Nishta

This was definitely a restful and peaceful setting. The studio was clean and well maintained. Nishta was so helpful in providing any assistance that ws needed, and was able to give us loads of suggestions about the local area. I would recommend this to family and friends. The warm ponds were within an easy drive and we used them frequently. There are so many things to explore withing a short drive, including black sand beaches, the volcano and historic Pahoa town.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi Emma, Thanks for your thoughtful review; I appreciate your comments. You know, I so love living here it is easy to share the good...and the bad...about local activities and happy I was able to help out with information and guidance. A hui hou! Nishta

Year Purchased: 2001
About: Having retired from the corporate world as a director in the computer software industry in 2002, I traveled to Australia and India...and lived in those countries for 3 1/2 years. Already a Reiki Master, in India I studied Foot Reflexology and in Australia mastered Facial Treatments using really pure, certified organic products I discovered while living there. I am a meditator, writer, website designer, gardener...love swimming and dancing. While living in Australia I became knowledgeable about toxicity in our lives as part of a start-up raw food community and my current book is called 'eliminating toxicity in your life'. ...and I host weekly meditations here that visitors are most welcome to join in. There are free yoga, tai chi and chi kung classes just down the street and I attend those regularly. (visitors are welcome too) My companions on the property are two cats, Paka and Poobah and a silly little 10 lb maltese/chihuahua mix dog who welcomes everyone each time they arrive whether she knows them or is yet to become their friend...Honi Honi is her name which means kiss, kiss in Hawaii and she will do that if you allow it! At 75, I am vibrant and healthy...I take no medicine and am looking forward to having a fun-filled rest of my life.
Why Pahoa:
Madame Pele (the Volcano Goddess) welcomed me when I arrived and I have come to love this lush, tropical paradise. I had never seen such lushness in landscape although I did live in Australian 'bush' which is also pretty similar in the rainforest environment.
The paved roads are a big plus for walking or running and the community mows along all the streets so there is a nice grassy area if you prefer that. I find the neighbors very friendly and helpful and are out and about a lot, either walking dogs or kids, biking, walking or running.
There is also an effective neighborhood watch which means I feel totally safe here.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
I truly love the lushness of this property, with the ancient, giant hapu'u tree ferns which are 20-30 feet tall, the lava formations are so interesting, sometimes I find plants growing right out of the lava with no soil! It really is an amazing environment with something new to discover in every nook and cranny of the property. Orchids abound on the trees and you just put an Orchid start in a branch and it takes off and grows...and I seldom have to water my garden in this rainforest. And I enjoy the ambient noise of the tiny tree frogs as well as the welcoming bird calls each morning. Yes, indeed, paradise!
