Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1990
I have been a social worker in Portland for 30+ years and have been managing the vacation rentals together with my daughter, Kris, who is a contractor. We love houses and are offering two choices in the Portland area now. My other passion is traveling which I have passed on to my daughter and grandchildren. This house reflects our international experiences and global focus. And it is filled with art providing a treat for everyone.
Why the Owner Chose West Hills
I built this house for myself 20+ years ago. It was designed by an architect who favors the Northwest Style of light, airy, open to nature, but compact and simple in it's execution. It is a joy to be in this space.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Beautiful park like setting, quiet and peaceful. amazingly close to downtown and the favorite places in the Portland area. We strive to maintain the house beautifully and constantly receive nice feedback about the ambience and cleanliness.

Your house was great! We will definitely stay again in the future. Your neighbor was very nice and invited my son to play on his swing set so that was fun. Thank you!!

If you're looking for a quiet spot, but want easy access to Downtown, this is the place. My family had a great time in Portland, due in no small part to the nice accommodations of this house. We could venture out during the day for sightseeing, and come back to this quiet, comfortable and somewhat secluded retreat. We found the neighborhood enjoyable. Groceries and other amenities were a quick drive down the street. I definitely recommend this property.
Owner response:Thanks so much, Carol

My family of five adults stayed at the 87th house during a recent weekend. The house was everything we expected. It is modern, tastefully decorated, and very clean. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet, and there are grocery stores and shopping close by. As advertised, it is very well-located with easy drives to downtown, the rose garden, and forest park. The owners are very nice, and easy to deal with. I am very happy we stayed here, would do it again, and highly recommend it.

I rented this house along with some other friends as we met in Portland to celebrate another friend's birthday. The house is a beautiful and spacious with some great architectural features on a very quiet street. The house served or purpose perfectly. We made great use of the spacious kitchen and deck. With some of the group coming from Miami they were skeptical of not having AC throughout the house but it was not necessary and this was during a short "heat wave" (90 degrees) in Portland. We were few minutes away from restaurants, supermarkets and shopping centers. The drive on 26 towards downtown might have taken 10 minutes, if that long. We had rental cars but there are buses on the main road after a 3-5 minute walk. The rental process was easy and stress free. Everything promised and listed for the house was available and there were no hidden issues. We are planning on returning to Portland in the future and I would not hesitate to rent this house again.

I stayed at this house for 4 days in September with my parents, sister, and daughters (age 18 and 20). The house was very clean and well-stocked. In fact, it was probably the cleanest vacation home I have ever rented. The sheets and towels were all freshly washed, and the kitchen and bathrooms were spotless. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, and we enjoyed returning to the house after touring Portland each day. The location is excellent -- it was a quick drive to anywhere we wanted to go in Portland. It is especially convenient to Washington Park. You enter the home on the upper level, which is where the living area and kitchen are located. The 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are on the lower level, which requires a descent down a staircase with no hand railing. This was a problem for my parents who are somewhat unstable on their feet. I would caution anyone with mobility issues that this may be a potential problem. I would highly recommend this vacation home.

This is a beautiful home! There is plenty of space for a large group. (We had 7 total, including 2 young children, & never ran out of hot water!) The home is well appointed, with all the necessary conveniences thought of. Everything about the home is as described in the listing, (we did discover that the wireless internet actually does require a password, so ask about it if you can not log on) While there was a slight miscommunication regarding our arrival time, everything was very quickly remedied, and the rest of our stay was a success. This home offers a great place to start from, and return to at the end of the day. It is a peaceful neighborhood, surrounded by beautiful tall trees and lush foliage, and has a very calming energy to it. The home itself picks up on the calm, and the feeling is carried throughout the house. You will definitely need a car to get around from this neighborhood, but it is well worth it. Portland has so much to do. I can't think of a better place to spend a family vacation in Portland than here. The owner was incredibly accommodating to our schedule requests, & we would absolutely stay again!
