Light and airy contemporary home welcomes you. This house is nestled among lush gardens and protected forest borders on a quiet dead-end street. Yet, it is only a 5 minute drive to the City Center, Pearl and NW Alphabet District, Zoo, Washington Park and Forest Park. From here, you also have easy access to the Nike Campus, St. Vincent Hospital and the western Metro area.
The house is filled with art, reflecting our international travel interest, and is full of visual treats for everyone.
I built this house 20+ years ago. It was designed by an architect who favors the Northwest Style of light, airy, open to nature, but compact and simple in its execution. It is a joy to be in this space.
Beautiful park like setting, quiet and peaceful. Amazingly close to downtown and the favorite places in the Portland area. We constantly receive nice feedback about the ambiance and cleanliness.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property! The home was spotless and beautifully decorated. Providing a comfortable environment is definitely a priority for this owner. Every window looked out on the landscaped surroundings. The open floor plan of the kitchen/dining room/deck/living room area was perfect for entertaining. The owners were always accessible by cell phone. We would definitely love to stay here again! -Visitors from ConnecticutDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your house in Portland. We were quite blessed with the weather (we were owed some good weather on account of our previous holiday in Ireland when it rained for 3 weeks!) and we were able to get out and enjoy all that Portland had to offer. You live in a very lovely part of the world and we particularly enjoyed the quiet serenity of 87th House - it was a truly relaxing place to come home to at the end of each day of hectic day of sight seeing! We were so glad to have had a chance to meet you - it makes the whole experience so much nicer to be face to face with the owner of the house. Your house is very well equipped and so very comfortable to be in - you should be congratulated on creating such a wonderful environment for guests. We hope that we might be back your way sometime in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is a very special home located on a beautiful, quiet, leafy green street with wonderful creature comforts, and a soothing place to wind down at the end of a busy Portland day! We stayed here for 8 days while getting our older daughter settled into college, and we couldn't have picked a more perfect place to have as our home base. The house is so welcoming, comfortable and user friendly, and we just loved coming home to our "house" every afternoon. The artwork, the decor, the architecture, the attention to detail and guest comforts shine through at every turn. It really was hard to leave. We stay in a lot of rental homes and this one is by far one of our all time favorites. The owner is wonderful! Downtown Portland is a hop, skip and a jump away, but we liked being able to come back to the calm of this more residential area after doing our visiting and touring. Washington Park is minutes away, and there was convenient shopping in the local area. We liked having a Trader Joe's nearby! We visited Forest Park, the Pearl District, a day trip to the Hood River, and ventured into many of the wonderful Portland neighborhoods like Irvington, Sellwood-Westmoreland, etc. The Portland Saturday Market was crowded but fun and we LOVED the Portland Art Museum, Powell's Books, Voodoo Donuts and some amazing walks throughout the city. And it was all even better when we could come home to this paradise and cook dinner in the open, user friendly kitchen and then sit out on the magical deck and look up into the trees and stars!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This house was just perfect for (part) my family. We went up to Portland for a almost week long family event and I shared the house with 6 other family members. (Aunts and uncle, mother, sister and brother) I was clean and very airy, the view is just magnificent and it just had a very nice welcoming vibe to it. It is kinda hard to find in the dark, so I recommend putting the address in a GPS to help you find it. The owner is very nice and obviously very well traveled (judging by all the furniture, paintings, etc) that are hanging in the house. The only negative side is when you want to go downtown in rush hour. Rush lasts quite a while, I find, and it can take your up to an hour to get downtown, instead on 10-15 min. I would totally recommend this place to who wants to stay just outside of Portland, yet close enough. And I would come back for future dates.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

If you're looking for a quiet spot, but want easy access to Downtown, this is the place. My family had a great time in Portland, due in no small part to the nice accommodations of this house. We could venture out during the day for sightseeing, and come back to this quiet, comfortable and somewhat secluded retreat. We found the neighborhood enjoyable. Groceries and other amenities were a quick drive down the street. I definitely recommend this property.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much, Carol
