Barna, Charming Cottage in Barna with Views of Galway Bay

The Barna Cottage is a charming 2 bedroom, 1 loft cottage (sleeps 6), 1 bath, with full kitchen and property views of Galway Bay.

Enjoy a cup of tea by the peat burning fireplace after spending the day golfing or seeing the beautiful countryside of Ireland. Our central location is truly the "Best of the West" on the Coast Road overlooking the hills of County Clare and a drive away from Connemara.

We are located within walking distance of Barna Village, enjoy a dinner at Donnelly's or stroll down Barna Pier and stop at O'Grady's. Additionally, there is a full service supermarket, off-license liquor store, pharmacy and take out restaurants.

There will be plenty to do and see in Galway Centre which is less than 10 miles away. A car is advisable to really enjoy all that the West of Ireland has to offer. Galway is a lively city with history, art, culture and colorful street festivals and celebrations such as the Galway and Clarenbridge Oyster Festivals in the fall. Don't miss the fine shopping, pubs and restaurants, some of my personal favorites are O'Maille for beautiful knitted goods, McDonagh Fish for wonderful seafood, Treasure Box and Bunch of Grapes for a pint with many more to visit and enjoy.

Away from the city you'll find plenty to do, while in Salthill you can enjoy a wonderful stroll on the promenade or take advantage of the restaurants and if you choose the Leisure Center. Moving up the coast past our Barna Cottage brings you to the "Gateway" of Connemara, the largest Irish speaking region in Ireland. Picturesque villages and rugged mountains, hills with constantly changing shades of green and the setting of the classic film, The Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. A trip to this area would not be complete without visiting the Aran Islands, home of Dun Aengus a three thousand year old fort and the original Aran Irish knit sweaters.

Irish are known for their crystal and a trip to our Cottage wouldn't be complete without stopping at Celtic Crystal in Moycullen. There you can watch as craftsman hand crystal with amazing skill and grace.

Passionate about golf, until you've golfed in Ireland you haven't golfed. Enjoy many of the beautiful golf courses in the surrounding areas. Our Barna Cottage is only 3 miles from Barna Golf Club and Galway Golf Club but don't stop there, try out any of the other ten 18 hole courses and 9 hole courses only a drive away.

And after a full day of activities come back to the Cottage relax with a cup of irish tea while sitting by your peat burning fireplace as you plan the next day's activitites.
