This fabulous family compound is available in 2013 for a minimum of ten days between July 13-29. Please Note: It is NOT available for weekend rental.
The property consists of the main house, 1 charming guest cottage (which rents separately), boathouse and docks on 2 acres of flat, wooded land with 584' of shoreline. Your family will enjoy all the comforts of home but with the adventure of island living amid breathtaking natural beauty: mountain and sunset views, bald eagles flying overhead, loons calling day and night, and crystal clear water all around.
Main house sleeps 12: Master bedroom with queen bed and full bath; bunk room with four bunks, queen fold-out sofa, and 2 twins with trundle pulled out, plus bath; study with queen fold-out sofa bed and full bath.
A dramatic and stunning central stone fireplace divides the Great Room (with reading alcove) from the Dining area. Interesting angles in all rooms give views in three directions. The floors are gleaming pine throughout, except for the two bedrooms and one hallway which are carpeted for warmth and noise control.
'Open plan' well-stocked kitchen has a large central island and desk area; a laundry room has pantry storage; a delightful screen porch, decks front and back running the length of the house, and a 6 person hot tub looking out on the lake complete the indoor/outdoor living spaces.
Guest cottage: Bedroom with custom painted mural on 3 walls and cathedral ceiling; study with built-in desk and queen Murphy bed; sitting room with two day beds, full bath, utility room with small refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and sink.
Boathouse: workbench, second refrigerator, all sporting gear; located next to the main house, not at the shoreline.
Boats: U-shaped dock complex anchors a nearly-new 14' aluminum boat with 25 hp motor; one double kayak and two single kayaks, a canoe, and wind surfer. Other equipment includes a swim raft, tubing and water skiing gear, PFD's for all ages and sizes, fishing gear, outdoor games and toys, picnic table and grill on the rear deck, large picnic table and deck on the property's northwest 'sunset point'.

Year Purchased: 1997
About the owner: My family has been coming to this gorgeous lake for over 40 years, so when my husband and I started looking for a place of our own, we looked at homes and land in every cove and corner we could find. We fell in love with this property and developed it over 6 years, and now have the joy of welcoming everyone in the family each summer. All five of our grown children and all ten grand children come at the same time every summer to be together. We rent our retreat once each year for 1-2 weeks only. Everything in the house, the cottages, and the boathouse are our personal property, so we look for a family like ours who will enjoy and take care of it as if it were theirs.
Why the Owner Chose Meredith:
Although we are on an island, it is only a 3 minute boat ride from the mainland docks where there is ample parking both for boats and cars. We love the picturesque towns of Meredith and Center Harbor, and this unspoiled part of the Big Lake. It is the pristine natural beauty, the clear water, gorgeous shoreline, mountain views, and starry nights that enthrall us year after year.
