This is one of the original, historic cottages in Stone Harbor along the Courts. The Courts are quiet, one way Streets in the South End of Stone Harbor which is a little removed from the hustle-bustle of town but within walking distance. This is one of the rare Court properties with a full upstairs loft zoned as a rec room with a half bath but has a captain's day bed which opens to two adjoining twins. Kids LOVE this loft, which led to the house name, 'Crow's Nest'. It allows them a separate space to hang out, watch tv and catch rays on the deck, which is accessible from the loft. The deck also has stairs ascending to it from the outside ground level.
This house has brand new kitchen for 2015 with tile floors in the dining room and kitchen and new stainless appliances as of 2015. The house has several hand -made stained glass windows and is overflowing with charm, is just over 2 blocks to the beach, including the Surfing Beach where the famous 'Nun's Beach' Surfing Competition is held in September each year to raise funds for the Villa Maria summer convent.
The cottage is within three blocks of a small market open all season called Clarke's Sunset Market near the bay. Clarke's has the best hamburger meat we have ever grilled and we take some home for the winter and keep it in the freezer. Across the street from Clarke's you also have Donna's Place where Taylor Swift worked as a teen. There is also a fresh seafood market attached to Donna's where they will cook your seafood for take-out or you can purchase it uncooked and grill it the way you like it. All of this is within 3 blocks of the house.
This is a wonderful and wholesome town with a few fabulous restaurants and a 15 minute drive to Sand Barons, Stone Harbor and other wonderful golf courses. You can walk to the bay and the beach. There is fishing in the bay or ocean. The main street of Stone Harbor is 96th Street which has its own movie theater, great clothing and jewelry shopping, a few miniature golf courses on the tops of the buildings and an arcade. This is not at all like 'Jersey Shore' the TV show! It is a high end, beautiful, family oriented beach resort with great beaches which have two or more lifeguards at all swimming beaches throughout the season.

Also,Boogie Boarding and skim boarding. Stone Harbor has a great, recently restored bird sanctuary with walking paths. It also is home of the Wetlands Institute on Stone Harbor Blvd which you can tour on foot or boat. Great educational, fun place for kids which has wildlife seminars and boat tours of the wetlands. Also, the Cape May County Zoo is minutes away and is completely FREE! It is a fabulous, clean, amazing zoo with big cats, giraffes and a savannah! This is a must see!
This property is only 20 minutes from Ocean City Boardwalk, 10 minutes from Wildwood Boardwalk and 20 minutes to Historic Cape May. Stone Harbor has several high end BYOB restaurants and fabulous shopping on 96th Street. If you forget your bottle of wine, Fred's Liquor Store will deliver it directly to you at the restaurant for a minimal fee.
It is a safe, family oriented community, not at all like the TV show 'Jersey Shore'. It is a high end beach town with gorgeous, fine sand beaches, all with two or more lifeguards on duty from Memorial Day through Labor Day and sometimes after Labor Day. If you like to walk, you can park your car and get to anything on foot or bike.
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: I grew up going to Ocean City, NJ but when I was around 9 yrs old,my father 'discovered' Stone Harbor and we rented there for many years until they bought their first house in 1984 across from Villa Maria Convent near the surfing beach. My family fell in love with Stone Harbor. It is a gathering spot for the entire family. I love the ocean. The beaches of Stone Harbor are the perfect place to enjoy the things I love most with my family. My parents still go to their house as much as possible, though they are in their 80's and my daughter worked at Donna's Place last summer. I like the fact that even in high season and big weekends, you aren't jammed together with strangers at the beach. We play tennis at 96th Street every weekend. The courts there are a kind of astroturf surface which is slightly easier on the knees and is cooler in temperature. We call these courts "The Rug" (:)). There are also countless clay/har true courts next to the Rec Center around 83rd Street. The Rec Center has all kinds of classes like Platoon, Kettle Bells, etc if you don't want to give up your fitness regimen during your vacation. Or you can just walk miles and miles or ride your bike along the bike trail along Second Avenue and bask on the beach and swim to cool down.
Going to Stone Harbor, even on off season weekends, Thanksgiving and New Years is a huge part of our lives that we hope to share with others! My favorite weekends are 4th of July when everybody takes a beach chair at dark to watch the Avalon fireworks facing North, then you turn your beach chair around to watch the Wildwood fireworks in the South afterward. There are lots of people who do it and it is a blast!
Why the Owner Chose Stone Harbor: Stone Harbor has beautiful beaches, great food, low key but high end. You can go to the nicest BYOB in nice causual wear or you can get dressed up if you really want to. My husband, daughter and I have owned several properties there and it is a sound real estate investment in a family friendly, non-wild beach community. We have built up a lot of nice friendships with people there. When we walk into the house after a long work week in the Philly area, we can just feel the stress and exhaustion of the week disappear. Our daughter learned to ride a bike on the wide streets of the south end where this house is located. There is a cute playground two blocks away with a running course for adults that has exercise stations. Your kids can play while you run circles around the playground and can see them. We purchased near the bird sanctuary which has been restored and has walkways. For the nature lover, the Wetlands Institute is on Stone Harbor Blvd and has boat and walking tours of the wetlands. It is as safe a shore town as you will ever find in NJ. We love Stone Harbor!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: You can walk to beach and bay. The house is in the South End which is more private and slightly removed from 'town' which is basically the area surrounding 96th Street. Weber Court is between 109th and 110th Streets. We can walk to the bay, throw out a fishing line from the end of 110th or go boogie boarding at the beach. This house has a cute little dining room adjoining to the kitchen which has a new granite breakfast bar with three stools. We have Sunday brunch there. The rec room loft with the Captain's bed (day bed with two adjoining twins) gives kids their space with their own half bath. The adults can enjoy and spread out downstairs. This is one of the larger cottages on the Courts and it gets rave reviews from all our guests. Many return year after year. Plus you can walk to the market! Big plus. Park the car and walk and bike everywhere. However, the house is about 20 minutes drive to Ocean City NJ, 10 minutes from Wildwood, if you 'need' boardwalk and rides. Also only 20 minutes from historic Cape May!
