I go out for a week by myself and work on my art. I also take this time to reflect on the past year and clear my head! I love the peace and quiet of the island. I have stayed in both island homes and I like both. However I love the upper deck to look at the stars and work on my art during the day. I leave the windows open so that I can hear the waves in the night. The beaches are quiet and private. This week is just for me to mediatate and be quiet. I love the locals and the fishermans wife's art gallery. Donna Rogers is very special to many islanders. Dont forget to stop at the bakery, Eva Murray can make a homemade treat!

What a quaint little island house it was. We are surely coming back. The local islanders were helpful. The beaches were very quiet. We hid down behind the rocks and had the most romantic picnic we have ever had, nudity was ok this day.:) The "Rock the Dock" was just a wicked good time. The islanders put on quite the music. Everyone is invited to bring their instrument and talent and sing along if you wish. All sailboats, local fisherman and families, and tourists alike joined. What a hoot...we all wore jeans and our best shirt and flip flops...so laid back. Our house was lovely complete with the old outhouse but a lovely modern bathroom inside of course. Everything worked great, the owner was very accomodating with all of questions and needs. We had the time of our lives...our children were teens and enjoy it just as much exploring the island, eating lobstah and visiting the fishermans wife art gallery...what a week. We are surely coming back Laurie!

what an island
Our family stayed in the loveshack home on Matinicus island in the summer of 2012. We had all that we needed. Our home for the week was quite a spot, we could watch the waves out of every window. We could hear the lobster boats moving in the morning and coming in at the end of the day. The islanders were most helpful. The lobstahs were very sweet tasting. Markys beach was quiet and just magical.
