We loved our stay here even though it was December/January. Our goal was to get away where there was no snow so being so close to the beach and being able to walk the dogs there at least twice a day was just what we needed. Being winter, it was quiet … again, just what we needed. The back yard is perfect for dogs and the door into the laundry room allowed us to wipe them down before entering the house. We really appreciated the good supply of firewood and the books and information on the area. The property was clean and the owners very helpful. We've already recommended it to friends and certainly hope to return this winter.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Bonnie, Thanks for taking the time to post this review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you can come back again. Dan

You will enjoy this property! The home is extremely comfortable, clean, well equipped with updated electronics, hot tub and kitchen amenities, and is very tastefully decorated. The property owners are a delight to work with. They ensure the property is well maintained inside and out. They have created explicit instructions for everything to make your stay enjoyable and worry-free. The home is located on a nice, quiet side street and only 2 minutes from the beach. Manzanita has many nice shops, several grocery stores (even an organic option!), wine shop, bike rentals, and is pet friendly. The beach is never over-populated and offers a good walk/run north and south. For a short drive the area offers more athletic endeavors such as hiking, biking, surfing. There is something for everyone... We have had the pleasure of using this home-away-from-home twice in the last year and I would recommend it to anyone year-round. You will not be disappointed!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words! We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our beach house in Manzanita and hope you come back soon. Dan & Maureen

This was a miraculous find for us. Our house in Portland was being remodeled and we needed a fun place to stay. This place was perfect. It had everything we needed and more. I loved the glider – we spent many hours sitting in it staring at the ocean. (You can see it from the front yard.) The bed was super comfortable. Walking to town for treats and the newspaper was my idea of a perfect morning. Of course, the walk would need to include a short walk on the beach. Then a long walk in the afternoon really made it a perfect day. And then the sunset - ooh la la. The owners were just right - very accommodating and helpful but not intrusive at all.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Betsy, We're glad you enjoyed your stay at our beach house. We only rent by the month and your six month stay was the longest rental for us. Hope to hear from you again and thanks for the review! Dan & Maureen

We stayed at this property in February of 2011. We loved how charming and well equipped it was. There were nearby shops to buy everything from champagne to juicy steaks that we enjoyed on the gas grill. Of course we didn't have to cook with charming little restaurants only a few blocks away. It rained the night we took advantage of the hot tub but that just made the experience that much more fun and enjoyable. It was handy having a full size washer and dryer to do our towels after. We cozied up to a great Blu ray DVD after in the comfy living area. Bedtime was quite comfortable and cozy as well since the owner has duvets on every bed. The two minute walk to the beach was heart thumping as you can see the waves coming in right from the cottage door. The beach itself was endless and unspoiled. I highly recommend this place to everyone! I can't wait to return. Next time we will take in some of the hiking trails.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the kind words ... sorry about the rain! Very glad everything worked out well.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: I'm a reatired information technology executive and my wife Maureen is a retired teacher.
Why the Owner Chose Manzanita:
We like Manzanita for its super laid back coastal town charm, indie culture and friendly people! A great place to walk the beach, hike state maintained trails and explore the outstanding Oregon coast...truly one of natures great accomplishments! We enjoy the quirky cedar shingle architecture of many of beach homes and a walk around the village always yields an interesting new vista or a new treasure from one of the 'artsy' retail establishments. Manzanita is what northern California coastal towns used to be. Nothing like the Pacific coast - the ultimate in relaxed understatement ...
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Two minutes walk to the magnificent beach at Manzanita. Wind surfing and kiting. Short drive to Oswald West State Park with the best surfing in Oregon. Hike Neahkahne Mountain. Day trip to Cannon Beach, Astoria, Tillamook, Lincoln City and Newport. 1 hour and 40 minutes drive to downtown Portland. Two hours drive to Portland International airport.
