We recently spent a week at this fantastic "piece of Tahoe heaven" and loved every minute. It is located in an ideal spot between Truckee and Tahoe City and across from the Squaw Valley Resort. The house is perfectly "Tahoe", very comfortable, spacious, clean, cozy and has room for everyone to find their own spot to relax after a busy day. There is a wonderful sitting area in back to enjoy a bbq and a pool and hot tub to enjoy. We stayed in the charming guest cottage and felt like we were removed from all worries. I got up in the morning, built a fire in the big fireplace and relaxed with a cup of coffee. We biked along the truckee river, tubed the river, kayaked on Lake Tahoe and played golf. We would return in a heartbeat to this wonderful house and I recommend it highly. Thank you for making it so special.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This house was old and had a strong smell of smoke. It was not clean, very dusty and the beds were horrible. When we arrived, we went into the house it was not what was advertised. It was unacceptable and we couldn't stay there and we had to find a place to stay at the last minute. Still trying to get my money back. Pictures look great compared to the house we saw.Owner response: This guest describes several common characteristics of a mountain home with wood-burning fireplace in the main room that is situated just steps from the Truckee River. The pictures show the house in its present condition. There is invoiced proof that the house was fully cleaned just one day before this guest's arrival by a professional cleaning company. There were 2 other VRBO parties that stayed at the house within 2 weeks prior to this guest's arrival and emailed great reviews. This is the first time I’ve ever received a negative review of this house. This guest demanded a full refund and when a sincere apology as well as partial refund was offered to see if this would be acceptable, the guest accepted it by asking when the partial refund would arrive. The guest then attempted to have more money refunded through their credit card without further discussion about the refund I offered, as well as threatening lawsuits and negative reviews. My policy has always been to try and reach an agreement with any unsatisfied guest unless communication breaks down, as it unfortunately did in this case. In concluding, I want to reiterate that in over the 10 years of owning and renting my home, I have never received a negative comment or concern about this lovely vacation rental.
