We are no longer offering our sweet cabin as a vacation rental. Thanks to all our wonderful guests who chose us for their vacations and to our superb property manager, Liz. If you'd like a larger house we offer a three bedroom, two bath 40's vintage cottage right next door. Look for the Saint Marys listing '1940's Cottage in Historic District Three Blocks from Waterfront'. Thanks for a great run, folks!
We recently purchased the historic Bealy-Bison House and its beautiful guesthouse on West Conyers Street. The house was built in 1907 and is part of the St. Marys Historic District. The home's original carriage house was torn down and rebuilt in 2006 and we have outfitted it as a one bedroom, one bath vacation guesthouse which we refer to as the 'Captain's Cabin.' Perfect for a single traveler or couple.
The Bealy-Bison House 'Captain's Cabin' is in a great location, just two blocks from restaurants and shopping and only four doors West of Historic Orange Hall. Our beautiful waterfront park and the Cumberland Island ferry landing are three blocks and a short walk away.
The Captain's Cabin is equipped with WiFi, a flat screen TV with basic cable and DVD player for watching movies. A queen sized bed sleeps two adults. A bathroom with shower is complete with towels.
An efficiency kitchenette includes a counter height refrigerator/freezer, small sink, microwave, toaster oven/toaster and coffee pot. It's NOT made for full fledged cooking (no cook top) but a Weber Kettle charcoal grill is just steps away on the patio with a supply of charcoal and lighter. For your convenience, the kitchenette is supplied with disposable plates, cups, flatware, and microwavable cookware.
The cabin's brick patio, under a jasmine covered arbor, is a perfect spot for morning coffee or a cold drink in the evening.
When you're ready to cruise, we provide two bikes for touring around town or for those morning rides to the coffee shop or waterfront park.
Chartered fishing trips, museums, kayaking, birdwatching, fishing at the waterfront pier, golfing, excellent seafood, great Southern hospitality - it's all here! Come aboard and have some fun. We look forward to meeting you!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Joe & Ronnie. We enjoyed our few days in your very nice cozy cottage. We really enjoyed walking & biking around your friendly town. It was very relaxing & laid back just what we needed. We hope to come back at a later date. Loved your sweet pup, he was such a cutie. :) Please take care and God Bless. Ronnie and Joe, What a wonderful week we had with Yaeger, Joe and Ronnie! We fell in love with the Captain's Cabin. Both Mike and I live very fast paced lives and this was "just what the doctor ordered" for us. Total relaxation. We fell in love with St. Marys the first time we saw it. We are going to enjoy getting more connected to St. Marys and people like you. Nancy and Mike Macon, GADid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

South Georgia in the Springtime is magical! We spent a week at the Captain's Cabin. It was comfortable and quiet. The garden is lovely and filled with birdsong. Highlights of our trip: Ferry ride and day at Cumberland Island National Seashore. Daytrip to Jekyll Island for bikes and beach. Two days at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. We rented a canoe and got right into the swamp. A wonderful nature filled trip Mary and Mark Saranac Lake, NYDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: We are Joe and Ronnie Tucker. Joe is a retired U. S. Coast Guard Captain, aviator and educator. Ronnie is an artist when she's not wrangling houses. We discovered St. Marys in 1999 and fell in love with it's small town spirit and friendly people. We have two vacation cottages in St. Marys. See our three bedroom, two bath cottage on VRBO, 'The Historic 1940's Cottage Gateway to Cumberland Island' if you're looking for a larger space.
Why the Owner Chose St. Marys:
We fell in love with St. Marys on our first visit in 1999.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
What we like most about St. Marys is...we can park the car and leave it! We walk or ride our bikes around town. Waterfront park and fishing pier are three short blocks away. Our favorite coffee shop is two blocks away where you'll meet sailboat owners, Cumberland Island hikers and long time local characters. I guarantee you'll make a friend if you come to St. Marys.
Wildlife abounds! You'll see native birds from heron to egrets. You'll find wild horses, feral hogs, alligators and armadillo on the Island and dolphin playing on the wake of the Cumberland Island ferry.
If you like to kayak, rental and instruction is available at the Welcome Center. Come relax, play and have fun!
