About the owner: We are a family of four, with two young boys, and we live in Montreal. As much as we love the chaos and energy of a big city, we need 'nature time' to recharge our batteries and our souls. Because we love to swim in clean water in the summer and snowboard in the winter, being right on a lake and 5 minutes from the ski slopes is perfect for us. We hope you enjoy our cottage as much as we do!
Why the Owner Chose Austin: We had visited many cottages in the Eastern Townships. Most of them were disappointments because the resembled suburban houses, with perfectly cut grass all around the property ( = lawnmower noise + fertilizers draining in the lake), gas fireplaces you could turn on with a switch ( = goodbye noise and smell of crackling wood in the chimney), and were surrounded by paved roads ( = fast cars and traffic). Then we drove to this place, and we loved the fact that we almost got lost on the dirt road. When we got there, we could not see the cottage from the unpaved road. It was at the end of a long driveway surrounded by trees. When we walked in the kitchen, I quickly noticed that it was in perfect condition. We then proceeded to the living room where I fell in love with the natural stone, old-fashion fire place where you can actually burn real wood! I immediately pictured myself sitting there with my wool socks and a glass of red wine after a day skiing. Then we walked on the deck and saw the beautiful Malaga lake a few steps in front of us, where we pictures endless fun in the water with our kids. We looked at each other with a smile that said: 'sold' and asked where we could sign. That's pretty much the story....To this day, it is still our little piece of paradise and we are happy to share it with people who will appreciate it as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet: Apart from the private beachfront on the pristine waters of Lake Malaga, the beautiful sunsets, the quietness, the smell of nature, the beautiful birds, the great walks around the lake under moonlight, and the fact that we can be on the ski slopes in the winter in less than 10 minutes….one of the great benefits is that it's surrounded by trees so there is a feeling of being secluded, away from everything. But when the mood strikes and we want to go for a nice dinner, shop, go to wine tastings, theater, or see a movie in the quaint little village theater, it's no more than 15 to 20 minutes away. It really is the best of both worlds.
