We stayed over Easter weekend to visit our son who attends the University of Arizona. Easy access to the University by car, probably under 2 miles. Many birds visited the backyard, thanks to full feeders and birdbath. Saw hummingbirds, Gila woodpecker, lesser goldfinches, thrashers, white wing doves, house finches and the usual sparrows, to name a few. I left clothes in the closet and Kathleen was kind enough to quickly mail them to us.Thanks, Kathleen! Very quiet neighborhood, too.

We had a wonderful time at this charming house! Everything you needed- fully stocked kitchen for cooking, clothes washer, wonderful back yard and barbecue. We couldn't have asked for more! Our kids had such a fun time just being outside in the spacious backyard. We found this trip to be so fun and relaxing because we felt very comfortable and at home in this house! We will definitely be back!

This house was charming. Kathleen gave us a lovely welcome and then left my two young girls, my husband and I to ourselves. We loved the touches like having art supplies handy, the back yard, a few wine glasses, and the beautiful and cozy beds and tub. Would love to come stay again!

Kathleen's home is a great place to stay if you are looking for a peaceful and charming bungalow in historic downtown Tucson. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, the gated entry greets you with a wonderful covered porch. The house has a spacious kitchen, nice size rooms and a back yard to have a larger group over for entertaining. All necessary household items are provided to allow a true "home away from home" feeling. The house is also located near (within walking distance) many great restaurants and bars. I would definitely recommend avoiding the standard hotel chains littered across Tucson in favor of a clean, cozy, and character filled home for your next family vacation or weekend getaway.

Kathleen’s house is absolutely full of old time charm; wooden floors, claw feet bath, rustic furniture etc. And it also has all the modern comfort you desire; efficient air conditioning, a brand new beautiful kitchen, TV, internet. It may be a little dusty in places (desert dust, hard to keep out) but the atmosphere, the deco, everything reminded me of a country house in the south of France. Staying there at the end of our vacations hiking around the canyons of Arizona, we appreciated the shaded calm of the house, listening to the tic-tac of the clock while reading… It’s also close to central Tucson so we walked to bars and restaurants, which was very convenient. The best remains to be said: Kathleen is a wonderful host, very attentive to her guests, still never intrusive. She promptly acted upon a couple of requests we had making us feel like she really wanted us to be happy in her house. And we were. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We had a wonderful time here! Right in the center of historic Armory Park, blocks from wonderful grocery shopping at 17th St. Market, a mile from 4th avenue shops and eateries, plus a walk to downtown Tucson to visit museums, music venues and eat delicious food from the Cup Cafe. We loved being here, we spent early mornings drinking coffee on the front porch, making light lunches in the fully stocked kitchen and evening glasses of wine out back while the stars came out. We wished we could have stayed longer. Kathleen was attentive while providing the utmost respect for our privacy, we were so glad to have enjoyed Tucson in the best way possible - in comfort and peace.

Kathleen's house is the way you wished you lived if you swept away all the unimportant stuff and kept the things that really mattered: a garden, a french press, a sketchpad and some pastels, a giant bathtub, a down comforter... Absolutely charming, lovely place and we really appreciated the apples and other goodies in the kitchen.

My husband, sister, and sister's boyfriend met in Tucson for Thanksgiving and Kathleen's guest house was the perfect home base. It was very comfortable with all the amenities of a hotel, but with the comfort of being at home. The kitchen was well appointed and we were able to cook Thanksgiving dinner for the four of us, as well as several other large meals, with up to 3 of us working in the kitchen at a time. The location can absolutely not be beat. It was central to all our activities (most of which were spur of the moment): Saguaro NP hike, Senora Desert Museum, dinner at El Charro & movie at El Con Mall. There is also a market and some restaurants that were within walking distance. The neighborhood is very cute, as is the house, which is very nicely decorated with inspiring original art. Will definitely stay again if we make it back that way.

We stayed four nights for the first time last January and had a lovely and comfortable time. The house is spacious, quiet, clean and beat our expectations from the online description. We enjoyed coffee each morning out on the back patio and prepared most of our meals in the fabulous kitchen. Downtown Tucson is easily accessible from the house- a yoga studio, 4th Ave, good restaurants and the farmers market! Kathleen is extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the area and its history. We are looking forward to returning again soon!

We stayed 3 nights in July of 2011. We were very comfortable & found that the house met all of our needs. It is clean and well furnished and we liked the simplicity of furnishing. The kitchen had all we need to prepare our meals - plus the owner provided us with excellent coffees and a delicious snack! The bathroom was also very clean. There is a nice terrace out back to dine on. We felt safe in the neighborhood and liked how close it was to downtown Tucson. Plenty of visitor info is provided & the owner was quick to respond to questions we had. We highly recommend this home for budget travelers who like to do their own cooking!

About the owner: I am an artist and a teacher, and love to garden. This neighborhood is filled with friendly, creative people, beautifully restored homes, and tree-lined streets. When I am not teaching art or working in my studio, I enjoy gardening, especially herbs and dry-land native plants. Restoring and furnishing this house has been a labor of love and part of my creative process.

Why the Owner Chose Armory Park:
I have lived here in Armory Park for over 30 years, in a 100 year old adobe house, right next door to the Artists Guest House. I chose this area because I wanted to live in an older, well built house with unique architecture and an authentic neighborhood.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Relaxing in a warm, comfortable home filled with classic furnishings, books, and lots of art! Walk to Tucson Yoga, 17th Street Market, Children's Museum, Convention Center; relax on the shaded patio with coffee or a glass of wine. Watch the gorgeous sunsets from a rocker on the front porch. Large reading library, local authors and topics, as well as art books for your enjoyment.
