Armory Park house description

The Artists Guest House: so called because I am an artist and this is where my guests stay. The rooms are covered with my artwork, making it also a gallery of eccentric and whimsical art. I also provide a well lit studio space for the Artist within, including materials and supplies. It is a totally private and detached home with gated front and back yards.

Lovingly restored double brick Queen Anne Territorial in historic downtown Armory Park neighborhood. Two bedrooms, one with queen, one with full bed, connected by bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower, plus extra studio workspace with large table, sink, books and art supplies.

Large newly renovated kitchen, with original built-in cabinet, and all appliances, dishes, cooking utensils, coffee pots, blender, toaster, microwave. Gated front yard, large private fenced backyard, porches front and back, native species trees and gardens. Original doors, windows, and wood floors throughout; A/C, refrigerator, washer and solar dryer (clothes line.) Central air and heat. We recycle, reuse, and compost.

This is a completely detached private home with its own private backyard and gated front yard. Rates are based on occupancy of the entire house; discounts for couples desiring only one bedroom.

Walking distance to many great restaurants, museums, churches, markets, historic walking tour, Visitors’ Bureau, El Tiradito shrine. Short drive or bike ride to: 'A' Mountain, Tumamoc Hill, hiking trails, University of Arizona, fabulous Mexican food. Walk to Tucson Convention Center, Barrio Brewery, Tucson Yoga, 17th Street Market, Food Conspiracy, Fourth Avenue Shopping District (bookstores, Vintage shops, Street Fair); unique downtown bars and restaurants, music venues, bike and running paths, parks, Historic trolley from downtown to the U of A.

We strive to recycle and compost; conserve energy with judicial use of air conditioning and heat. Model rainwater harvesting system in place and graywater drains feed local seasonal herbs and flowers. Organic eggs provided along with locally ground coffees.

              Owner info

              Year Purchased: 1998

About the owner: I am an artist, and love to garden. This neighborhood is filled with friendly, creative people, beautifully restored homes, and tree-lined streets. When I am not teaching art or working in my studio, I enjoy gardening, especially herbs and dry-land native plants. Restoring and furnishing this house has been a labor of love and part of my creative process.

Why the Owner Chose Armory Park:
I have lived here in Armory Park for over 30 years, in a 100 year old adobe house, right next door to the Artists Guest House. I chose this area because I wanted to live in an older, well built house with unique architecture and an authentic neighborhood.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Relaxing in a warm, comfortable home filled with classic furnishings, books, and lots of art! Walk to Tucson Yoga, Five points Market, cafe Desta, Children's Museum, Convention Center; relax on the shaded patio with coffee or a glass of wine. Watch the gorgeous sunsets from a rocker on the front porch. Large reading library, local authors and topics, as well as art books for your enjoyment.
