Beautiful, Lovely Home Just a Short Stroll to the Beach!

  My husband and I spent 2 weeks at this property on Drakes Island this October. We had such a fabulous vacation. The home is very comfortable and we did not want to leave. The rooms are bright and if you're lucky, you will feel the ocean breeze come through the windows!!! The owner was easy to deal with and responded to our requests in a timely manner. We had some family come to visit and it was great that they had their own private room and bath area. The house is centrally located and is 5 minutes away from the Maine Diner - great breakfasts!!! We are planning on returning next fall.

  Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

  My family stayed here for a week in August for our summer vacation. This house was very accommodating for our family and true to its description and photos. A 5 minute walk to the beach was so nice! The neighborhood was very friendly and dog friendly too. Every night we would head to the beach with our children and our dog and meet many other people and pets along the way. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the necessary items you need and then some. There was plenty of space in the house for all of us to unwind and relax. The outside shower was a huge help in getting all the sand off! Drakes Island beach is very nice and at low tide the kids would explore the exposed rocks searching for hermit crabs and other sea creatures. At high tide boogie boarding was the main activity. The beach also has plenty of space for everyone so you don't feel like you are on top of one another. There is so much to do in the area if want a break from the beach. We went on a Whale Watch out of Kennebunk and ventured to Ogunquit for some shopping. We ate at Mike's Clam Shack and Lord's Harborside which both served wonderful meals! In renting this property, Ashley was very responsive, informative and an absolute pleasure to deal with. We hope to return soon.

  My family spent 2 weeks at this property last August and we had a great time. The home has everything you need and is just a short stroll to the beach. Ashley was a pleasure to deal with. We had some friends come to visit us and it was great that they had their own private bed and bath area. The living room is comfy and my son loved eating breakfast at the counter. Our middle weekend we had a hurricane come through but luckily it didn't come that close. The angry surf was amazing to see and when else will you get to go to The Steakhouse on a Saturday in August with NO WAIT! Look forward to returning on Drakes again this year.

  Our extended family of 10 recently rented this property for our summer vacation. The house was spacious, updated, comfortable and the neighborhood was very quiet. Being mostly dirt roads, cars drove slowly which made it nice for the kids riding their bikes. The community center was great, tons of kids playing basketball, tennis and playing at the playground until dark, reminded me of when I was a kid!! Beautiful beaches and very family oriented. I wouldn't hesitate renting this property again. We had a great time!

  Owner response: The recent renovations are an added bonus to this property giving it a warm, inviting and clean feeling. The community center has been a well-loved attraction throughout the years on Drakes Island. The kids programs continue to grow and develop over time. There have been many hours of enjoyment collecting a variety of rocks and shells on the beautiful Drakes Island beach. Many more memories to be made here at 25 Shady Lane!
