What a gorgeous day today! The northern New York area has now greened up! My perennials are a jump ahead of past years. I've planted my vegetables 2 weeks sooner than ever in the past. Yes, we can always get a surprise either way from mother nature before June but hey, the song birds don't believe we'll get any more frosty nights! Next step is to get the pool open and warmed up for the summer swimming season! We have a pretty busy summer ahead but please check back every now and then for we do get cancellations!
This log cabin is named Whispering Water because of the scenic water fall views of the Oswegatchie River from the living room, master bed room and deck.
Hardwood floors throughout. Large master bedroom with queen bed and picture windows facing the river. 2 small bedrooms, each with double bed. Air conditioning both levels.
The swimming pool and deck are perched at the river's edge. The porch overlooking the pool and river is screened for sitting out at night. A 2 person hot tub on the deck is available year round.
SELECT THE VIDEO TAB ABOVE THE PHOTO TO WATCH A 2-MINUTE YOUTUBE VIDEO SLIDESHOW AT WHISPERING WATER.
Explore the northcountry with day trips to the Adirondacks, 1000 Islands, Ottawa or Kingston Ontario. (If you plan to go to Canada, remember your passport or enhanced driver's license.)
Or just kick back with a good book and relax to the sounds of the river.
Lakes with public boat access are located in the area. We will provide a canoe and accessories for those would like to explore local lakes and rivers. Bring your fishing poles.
Amish farms and shops are numerous in Saint Lawrence County.
If you enjoy road biking, you can ride from the cabin on miles of rural country roads that are lightly traveled. We can guide you with routes from 2 to 40+ miles that wander thru the countryside.
In addition, 4 colleges are located nearby:
25 miles to Canton (Canton College, Saint Lawrence University)
35 miles to Potsdam (Potsdam College, Clarkson University)
Staying at Whispering Water is unique way for the family to be together during visits to the colleges for graduations or special events.
It is 20 miles to Fort Drum if you are considering a visit that doubles as a vacation for the family.
The property is offered for rent all four seasons. Fall colors are brilliant with many maples trees in view. During a winter retreat the pellet stove provides penetrating warmth. Winter is a wonderful time to relax and reflect.
The cabin gives a deep woods feel while being close to a small town.
A word of caution:
Since the property is surrounded on 3 sides by rapid water and steep rock ledges that drop to the water's edge, we do not encourage visitors staying at the cabin with very young children. Close supervision near the river and at the pool is a must.

Wonderful cabin to relax and enjoy nature. The view from the bedroom of the water rushing over the small falls was so relaxing to watch and listen to. Everything was as described and more. Would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting to just relax and unwind.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Being from Pa and the Jersey shore area..they could learn how to present and accommodate their guests from the owners of this cabin . The owners of this property have gone beyond any rental /bed and breakfast type I have ever been too. We arrived to music and a fire going, along with a welcome basket filled to the rim with all sorts of treats. Welcome candy on the pillows The refrig; milk, oj eggs, bread!!! And the decor and the cabin itself BEYOND. And the view of the river, the hot tub everynight. It was the best week!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank-you so much for your nice review. We enjoy having people come and just relax as though it's their own place. Our weather has finally become more spring like! The song birds are back, the bulbs are opening and the buds on the trees are starting to leaf out! Spring has sprung! It was a pleasure to meet all of you!

My wife and I had a fantastic romantic weekend get away. Once you enter the cottage you feel at home. The owners have gone to great lengths to ensure you will not want for anything, There are even a few nice surprise little extras awaiting your arrival. It is truly a 5 star experiance. We throughly enjoyed sitting in the outdoor whirlpool tub listening to the sound of the water passing over the small waterfalls, the geese foraging in the water all te while enjoying a fresh glass of wine/ beer. Thank you so very much for all you have done to make our stay such a memorable one. We look forward to returning to the Whispering Waters in the very near future and continuing where we left off. Your new Freinds, Howard and PhyllisRecommended for: Romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank-you for reviewing "Whispering Water"! You would not call it a small waterfall today for with the warm couple of days and last night's rain the river is quite roaring. Hopefully the geese are somewhere safe for today. I wish you could have seen the large plates of ice crashing over the rocks today. I never grow tired of watching the ice go out! Tonight's forcast is for some lake effect snow again... let's hope! It was wonderful to meet you and look forward to seeing you again!

Within minutes of being home we were on the schedule to see when we could swing back up. At the cabin we left our thoughts in a book by the door... I wrote, deleted, scratched out, etc on a piece of paper before we put it in the book. So many ways to express how fantastic this place is but its hard to put in to words. Every last detail is taken care of. You literally walk into home (or dream home) in our case. We are grateful and cant wait to go back. They say enter as strangers leave as friends... cant be any more true!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Merci beaucoup!

My wife and I could not have picked a better place to spend our honeymoon. Ted and Jeanice were extremely kind and curteous and their generosity in how they prepared the cabin was absolutely wonderful. Every detail was meticulously looked after from the moment we arrived and any questions we had throughout the week were answered so fast! We have and continue to feel truly blessed to have had the priviledge of staying at this cottage and having had the opportunity to meet Ted and Jeanice. They are truly wonderful people. Also, the actual location of the cottage is breath taking and is within reach of some neat little towns. If you're looking for some time away but where you still feel as if you are at home, then stay here! You will not regret it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: It was wonderful to meet both of you! You picked the perfect week to enjoy the autumn leaves! Won't be long we'll be enjoying the first snow of the season! Thank goodness Hurricaine Sandy left us alone but our hearts go out to those affected by the devastation.

This is the ideal location to get away and spend time relaxing in a beautiful cabin. The hosts are delightful and there is nothing they miss in setting up the cabin. If it is nighlife and excitement you are looking for, this is not the place for you. But if you are wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life and instead curl up with a good book by the fire, this IS the place to book. We happened to visit in early October and the fall colors were amazing.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: It was wonderful to meet you! So glad you enjoyed your stay!

From the moment we booked our stay at Whispering Water, Jeanice was wonderful, sending information about the area and answering all my questions. We arrived late the first night and the cabin was lit and warm and waiting for us, and after a great night's sleep, Jeanice and Ted welcomed us personally the next day, making sure we knew where everything was and that we didn't want for anything. The cabin itself is absolutely beautiful; the pictures can't begin to do it justice. We got to use the hot tub one night, the pellet stove on another, grilled food several times, and enjoyed waking up to the views every day. Close enough to town that we could run for groceries, but far enough out to feel secluded; this was the perfect place to come home to after visiting the Adirondacks, Lake Placid, Lake George, and chasing down several of New York's finest waterfalls. We even kayaked in some of the local lakes. The weather was perfect and the leaves just beginning to change, we couldn't have asked for a better week. The worst part was when it came time to pack up and leave! We've been telling everyone about how great our Whispering Water vacation was, ever since we got home, recommending it to all our friends. We are thankful to both Jeanice and Ted for opening their piece of heaven to the rest of us and making us feel right at home. I'm pretty sure we have been spoiled for vacationing anywhere else!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Wow! Thank-you for such a nice review! The trees are now starting to change to oranges and burgundy. Beautiful weather for hiking into waterfalls and the Adirondacks! You touched on a bit of everything! We are so pleased you enjoyed yourselves! I was pleased to see you also had a campfire and had Smores! My favorite thing to do! Best of wishes to both of you!
