MIDDLE LEVEL has large master king bedroom (TEMPUR-PEDIC) with private bath and exit to shady wrap-around porch with hammock; full hall bath; third bedroom with two twin beds; fourth bedroom with pyramid bed (twin over full), twin trundle and exit to deck with Nags Head hammock swing. Unpack and make yourself at home!
LOWER LEVEL with washer and dryer leads to covered parking. Outside you'll find a park grill and basketball goal. Enclosed outside shower is a special treat!
OCEANSIDE - Short walk to beach (280 yds.)in private community of Ocean Sands! No major roads to cross! Cart available for heavy coolers and beach chairs - we provide 10 chairs. In season, you'll find a life guard stand right at the foot of the public boardwalk over the dunes. Convenient grocery stores, shops, and restaurants just a mile up the road.

Why the Owner Chose Ocean Sands
We built our cottage in 1992 shortly after returning from 3 years in the Netherlands and England with the U.S. Air Force. (Dick had purchased the property several years before when Ocean Sands was a new development and the wild horses were roaming free.) We have many wonderful memories of vacationing at the Lark Inn with our 3 teenage daughters and their friends. The tradition continues with our 4 adorable grandchildren who love the sandy beach and visiting the "turtle pond."
The Unique Benefits at this House
The northern Outer Banks is very family oriented! No large hotels, casinos, or boardwalks. Instead, single family cottages with plenty of space on our wide beach; kayaking or crabbing on the sound; quiet roads for bicycling; a historic light house to climb; and puzzles and board games for a family game night. Try delicious seafood at a local restaurant (Collington Cafe is our all time favorite)or bring in NC BBQ from Pigman's.
You'll find our cottage is an easy walk to the beach - you can hear the surf from our decks - without beach front prices. With no pool, we can keep the price affordable for a small family, but you'll love our hot tub on the upper deck! At night, when there's a chill in the air and the house lights are off, there's nothing like watching the stars with a glass of champagne. An amenity usually found only in larger houses is our dual zone air conditioning system which makes it very easy to control the temperatures on both levels. Have you been wanting to try a TEMPURPEDIC mattress? Our king bedroom is your perfect opportunity. We have a great selection of paperbacks and we rate new movies as "beach house worthy" - those we think our guests would enjoy and add them to our collection. With our grandkids, we really like having an extra set of eyes - a life guard stand right at the foot of the steps in season.
We come down often to check things out and take pride in having a cottage you'll want to come back to often. We vacation here too! Many Lark Inn guests return year after year for quality family time and have become "old friends".

Welcome to the Lark Inn! We're Fran and Dick Larkins from Springfield, VA. Fran is a Carolina "Tar Heel" and researcher at the Library of Congress. Dick is a retired USAF Colonel (69 Academy grad)and consultant with a DC area company. When we're not enjoying time on the Outer Banks, we love to travel. We're looking forward to Egypt this fall. Skiing (snow) and scuba diving are also high on our list.
