River Cabin Getaway on Little Quil River
- Minimum stay:1-2 nights

River Cabin Getaway is perched above the Little Quilcene River, affectionately called 'Little Quil' by the locals, on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Just another day in paradise! The cabin is nestled in a restful, forested setting, just a couple miles west of Quilcene, which hugs the shore of Hood Canal.
At the river you will find a fire pit and grill to barbeque delicious meals cooked over an open fire. We provide the firewood for the cookouts. We also provide a hammock at the rivers edge, where the sounds of the forest are intermingled with the river's melody as it meanders on its way to Quilcene Bay. On cooler days, the view of the river can still be appreciated from the comfort of the cabin's living room with the cozy warmth of the gas fireplace.
On the deck is a gas grill and patio furniture with a view of the surrounding forest and trail leading down to the Little Quilcene River.
The cabin offers a dining area that seats four with a hide-a-way table and chairs for two more. The kitchen is fully loaded with all the comforts of home. The tiled bathroom has a large shower and a clothes washer and dryer. The cabin's kitchen is self sufficient. Cook on a vintage gas range beneath beautiful hickory cabinets. Dishes, cups, glasses and utensils fill the drawers. Pots and pans hang above the old, wood cookstove, which adds its aesthetic presence to the cabin experience. More functional is the dishwasher, which can save time for a skip to the river.
The cozy loft features a queen size wrought-iron bed. Downstairs is a full size futon. The cabin comfortably sleeps four adults but can accomodate a couple more upon special request.
Children will love this cabin and surrounding area. Wading in the river, fishing, and exploring trails is a favorite pastime of my grandchildren.
For saltwater adventures the cabin is only a few miles from Quilcene Bay. In the summer the beach at Linger Longer offers a great range of water activities, including swimming, boating, tubing, and water skiing. Kayaking is great on any calm day. A seasonal run of fall salmon lures fishing enthusiasts. Seasonal clams, oysters, shrimp and crab are unforgettable pleasures to share outdoors around a campfire.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 33rd anniversary by spending 2 nights at this cabin. It was the perfect place to enjoy time alone with each other. The cabin was clean and cozy, the surroundings beautiful, the sounds from the river flowing by and rain on the roof were truly relaxing. The owner greeted us warmly and showed us around to make sure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay...even a chocolate cake! We are looking forward to staying there again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

As cute and promising as the cabin appears from the photos and video, my partner and I were still unprepared for how truly idyllic it is in person!!! The owners have created a magical haven, aesthetically as well as practically speaking. Because we were there during a cold and wet spell, and although we did take advantage of Mt. Zion's and Port Townsend's proximity, we also thoroughly enjoyed the gas fireplace, the excellent sound system, the truly fully-equiped kitchen, the comfortable and cozy living areas. Our hosts went out of their way to make sure we were welcomed and comfortable, and were very generous in fulfilling our special requests. I hesitate to write this glowing review only because I don't want to eliminate our chances of a vacancy when we want to return - which we most certainly do!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband and I spent a couple days there for his birthday. The cabin is simple and sweet but clean and extremely charming. It is perched just above the river so you can hear the river from the cabin and see it from the deck. The owners are great to work with and Linda even made my husband a birthday cake. If you are looking for a quiet secluded place to spend some time I would recommend. We are planning a return trip for August of this year.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: Stan and Linda reside in Quilcene, Wa. Linda is a native of Quilcene and has lived here for most of her life. We love Quilcene and the beauty of the surrounding Olympic Mountains. We are avid hikers and have explored most of the mountains in this region. Quilcene Bay provides an abundance of activities that we share with our family during the summer months. We swim, water ski, kayak and forage for oysters, clams, crab, and shrimp. Salmon fishing is an added benefit in the late summer.
Why the Owner Chose Quilcene:
We chose this cabin to attract like minded people who enjoy some of the same seclusion and activities that are avaialble to us here in Quilcene. The added attraction of a nice little cabin fronting a local river on a large piece of property clinched the purchase.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Or little cabin is surrounded by the beauty of the forest and the melodious Little Quilcene River. Clients can enjoy a camp fire by the river, lounging in a hammock or on the deck, watching the local wildlife, exploring the nearby National Forest with all the backroads and trails. The cabin is within a short drive or bike to Quilcene Bay that has all varieties of tidal area activities. Mostly, the cabin is a great place to relax. Couples have enjoyed honeymooning at the cabin. Since we are located in the northwest, every season has unique opportunities and experiences. No matter what the season or weather the cabin offers access to a great outdoor experience combined with cozy lodging.
