Myself and a couple of my buddies rented this cabin for the weekend. What a beautiful place! Perfect to just get away and totally relax. Tons of things to do around the property and also plenty of attractions just a short drive away. Hiking trails all over, big lake where you can rent boats and cruise around or just fish if you would like. And the lake club has alot to offer also like swimming pools and too many other amenities to list. I would definatly recommend this place to anyone!!! I will for sure be back again real soon!!

Mountain paradise equals High Country Lodge at Bear Lake!! We highly recommend this clean and well maintained Bear Lake Cottage to anyone wishing to enjoy a wonderful North Carolina experience. The property is very well appointed and outfitted, all you need to bring is food. We enjoyed hiking, canoeing, swimming, fishing and golfing. The property is near the enrance to the Bear Lake Reserve while the Lake Lodge is a five mile drive away. However, the 15 minute drive is well worth it to enjoy the amenities, food, pool and canoeing plus the exceptional service of the staff. We spent many evenings on the upper deck, enjoying the wonderful views, sunsets, adult beverages and the fireplace. Our grandchildren enjoyed the downstairs video room. Brandon was most helpful explaining the property upon our arrival and was available to answer any questions throughout our stay.

We stayed in this home for the week of our daughters wedding in NC. We are from Florida, so the change to living in the mountains was very special. We could not have had a better home to host guests each evening. There is room to roam and at one point had around 60 guests enjoying the upstairs living area, decks and downstairs bar and movie room. Plenty of space to roam and not feel crowded. The home itself had everything needed to enjoy our stay and Brandon, the local property manager welcomed us and was available to help if needed. We particularly liked the location near the entrance to Bear Lake. Easy to access coming and going, yet just a short drive to the Club facilities where some of our guests enjoyed the lake. Beautiful setting, great time, perfect accommodations. What more can you ask for.

Week in Bear Lake Reserve
Week in Bear Lake Reserve
My husband and I stayed in this beautiful home with our two boys and another family of four boys for six days. It was our best vacation ever and we vacation a lot. Bear Lake Reserve is a jewel in the mountains of NC that is unmatched. The amenities of the property are fantastic and we will definitely be visiting again. From this home we were able to hike a strenuous mountain path that was right outside our door in the mornings and also take the boys down to the lake to fish and catch butterflies. I highly recommend staying in this luxurious home, you will definitely want to return soon!

Our family of two adults and two children had plenty of room to spread out. The house is very comfortable and has everything you need. Directions for working sound system and fireplace are helpful, we roasted marshmallows in the outdoor fireplace. The house is located at the front of the community, which makes day trips convenient.

Wonderful place for a wonderful Vacation
Wonderful place for a wonderful Vacation
This has to be one of the very best vacation homes I've ever stayed at. Brandon, the greeter, was very friendly, and made us feel like were part of a special extended family. The lodge was very clean, and fully equipped for just about anything we needed. The house was not only fully accessible for all our needs ("everything you see here is meant to be used") but it was very family oriented. We had four children with us from ages 8, down to 18 months. The kitchen had full facilities, to the degree, that we had a complete turkey dinner with "all the fixin's". The dishwasher made cleaning up after us a breeze, and full washer/dryer in laundry area kept our clothes packing to a minimum. If you are not into cooking, the restaurant at The Lake House has some of the best food I've had anywhere. There is a picnic area called Bear Creek Park, that had benches and elevated places to enjoy the scenery, and (while I don't play) a really nice golf course. I've been raving about this place since I got back, telling all my friends about this place. One last thing....from where I come from, this is about an 11 1/2 to 12 hour ride. (with 4 children under 9, make that closer to 13 hours. This place is definitely worth the drive, and we will be definitely be doing this again. Believe me... you will enjoy the place.

Both the lodge and the location were fantastic. The lodge was well decorated and very clean. This was a great location close to fishing, white water rafting, hiking, and zip lining. The Lake Club was wonderful for "rest" days lying around the pool and the restaurant food was excellent. Loved the second floor deck with the outdoor fireplace (nice at night) in the lodge where we spent a lot of our time. For families with small children, would recommend the Rafting with My Kids group on the Tuckasegee River that was the right level of experience for our 6 year old's first time on white water.

Luxurious and peaceful mountain home
Luxurious and peaceful mountain home
This is my 2nd trip to Bear Lake Reserve and it was the best. What a great house. Location was at the end of a street and at the top of a hill overlooking a field and mountains. Inside was full of extras - surround sound and 2 decks - even speakers outside. I brought my teenage daughter, her friend, and my dog. The girls had a blast, and spent most of our stay in the pool (2 pools, a slide and hot tub) at the Lake Club. We enjoyed poolside dining (get the pizzas) and upper deck lunches. I even got to bring the dog with me on the upper deck. The beauty at the pool was amazing - overlooking the lake. Canoe and kayaks were available and adirondack chairs were all over the property. We did need to drive to the club, but the house and peace it provided were worth it. My dog and I even met some great neighbors and another dog (even off-leash!) as we walked down the hill to the greeter's cottage to get a morning paper. I loved my time there - having my morning coffee on the upper deck as I listened to music from the outside speakers. I also had a great time cooking as the kitchen is fully stocked. Owner is very friendly and a staff member came by on the first day to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. In the evenings the girls walked down to the waterfall and outside ampitheater to hang out. Wonderful spot! Great house! We will be back!

Rental for My Son's Graduation at WCU
Rental for My Son's Graduation at WCU
I rented this property when my son graduated from WCU. The property was absolutely beautiful. The decor was so appropriate for a "mountain house". The house was the most well stocked that I have ever stayed in. It really sleeps 8 in beds and the other 2 would have to sleep on a couch. We thought the couch was a sleeper couch but it wasn't. But there are 2 couches upstairs and 2 downstairs. So you really could sleep 2 more if they didn't mind sleeping on a couch. We cooked a celebration meal after graduation and had everything we needed. The microwave was a bit of a pain, with no digital display and we had to have them come repair it before we could use it. Other than that it was a great place to stay and we would certainly rent this property again! Bear Lake Reserve is so pretty! The club house and golf are amazing!
