Queen Anne house description
Completely remodeled in 2006 by noted Seattle designer (and owner) Candace Rogers, this stunning 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1914 home is a peaceful yet stimulating gem perfectly located for any and all activities, whether work or play.
Please think of the home as a sanctuary rather than a party place. We discourage large get togethers but welcome intimate gatherings (12 person maximum).
The home is located on Queen Anne Hill's West slope in a quiet neighborhood with a coffee shop, spa and market/restaurant (with delicious, freshly prepared take-out) just around the corner. It's within walking distance of the Seattle Center, Whole Foods, Interbay Golf, Amazon headquarters, and downtown, as well as numerous restaurants and shops on the top of the Hill.
The home can accommodate up to 6 people, with a maximum of 2 children under the age of 18 (6 is the maximum number of guests) in total comfort in rooms painted with serene colors which flow from room to room, accentuated by original pieces of art, calming your nerves while elevating your mood. The large and well appointed kitchen has a gas range, microwave, and dish washer for your home cooked meals. Sit and relax at the counter, casual eating kitchen table or the large, more formal, oval dining room table. Enjoy the gas fireplace and light filled living room, perfect for cozy entertaining or just kicking back. The third bedroom can be used as a nursery or sleep two in the bunk beds.
All three bedrooms are on the top floor, with kitchen, living and dining rooms on the main floor.
We are baby and toddler friendly with many items including: high chair, baby gates, stroller, changing table, portable crib, wading pool with water toys, and car seat (available on request-if our grand kids don't need it).
All interior furnishings are hand selected by Candace for style and comfort and the back yard is a great spot for catching some sun, relaxing or barbequing.
The unobtrusive owners have an apartment with separate entrance and kitchen in the basement, which they occupy when not traveling, so if there are any issues that arise, they can be dealt with quickly.
Come enjoy affordable luxury accommodations in the heart of Seattle.

Beautiful Craftsman home
Beautiful Craftsman home
We recently had the pleasure of renting this home for 4 days. The house is lovely, well maintained and centrally located. We were a short distance from shopping, restaurants and parks with amazing views. We had the pleasure of meetings the owners of this home. They are wonderful, personable people who care deeply for their guests comfort and experience. They love this city and they love their home. They provided us with recommendations for sites to see and places to eat. We will definitely rent this home again on our next trip to Seattle.

accurate description on listing v. handy for downtown and Seattle Center access. Bus half block from house for both of these areas. Additional bonus was nice backyard patio which made for sunny breakfasts outside. 'Icebox ' cafe/store round corner, a good spot if feel like breakfast out. 4 of us stayed for 1 week. Wld be happy to return.

Perfect location and great family home
Perfect location and great family home
We stayed at the Blaine House for 4 nights in August. The location cannot be beat! Great neighborhood with fun places to eat and shop. There are also great parks for kids. The house is VERY well kept and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is amazing and well stocked. We cooked for our family of 6 in there with no problem. The owners also stay on the property and were very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend this property for a Seattle vacation!

Terrific!!! This place was perfect for our family...a bright and cheerful house which our grandsons enjoyed... specially the bunk beds and outside yard/patio. Location was centrally located in a nice neighborhood, a good rendezvous point for guests with ample parking and markets that were close by. The owners are very nice and accomodating!!! We would recommend this all of our friends.

Not a house for families or friends
Not a house for families or friends
The very first thing you should know about this lovely property is that the owners live in an apartment in the basement. This was not disclosed in their vrbo ad. I don't have a problem with the owners living onsight, in principle, but it seemed disingenuous that such a significant detail was only disclosed after they had received our substanial check for a week's rental in the high rental season of July. I had selected this rental in January for my family, who would be visiting from the east coast and the owners had plenty of time to disclose that their property was not best suited for families. If the owners had been forthcoming I would not have been thrust into the extremely challenging position of trying to secure me family acoomodations In the high season of Seattle. This may illuminate our experience. Upon checking in, we were greeted by, Candace, who promptly informed my 11 year old cousin and I that the house should be thought of as a "quiet, retreat house". I had no idea how literally Candace meant this, until two nights later, when she threatened to call the police on my mother and uncle for talking on the back patio after ten p.m. Ultimately, I shuffled to find a new place for my family when they opted to check out the next day rather than continue to stay in such a lovely house, in which they did not comfortable. It is exceptionally clear that Candace is interested in other people paying for her retirement but does not actually want anyone staying in the house that she so carefully remodeled. To be fair, the house is beautiful and immaculate and if it were my house I would have a difficult time renting it too. Perhaps, the owners should follow their own lead and market it as a "quiet, retreat house" from the outset. That way they could spare families and friends the stress of finding last minute accomodations.

Owner response: The fact that my wife and I live on site was clearly stated in our simple contract which the guest signed but apparently did not read, which they received prior to any payments. It is clearly stated in our VRBO.com property description, “Please think of the home as a sanctuary rather than a party place. We discourage large get togethers but welcome intimate gatherings (12 person maximum).” These folks had planned a party of 30 or more people but did not share their plans with us. We live in a beautiful residential neighborhood with wonderful, welcoming neighbors. Out of respect for them, we gently requested that the guests continue their loud 10:30 pm conversation inside the home. We considered calling the police when the extremely inebriated and belligerent grandmother exhibited threatening behavior towards my wife. After learning of their discomfort with us living on site (the grand mother ordered us to stop watering our plants or doing any yard maintenance during their stay in 80+ degree weather) we immediately offered to refund their rental fee, which we did. This is our first negative review in 3 years and 68 rentals, mostly families, that loved their stay. We have learned that not everyone reads the information we provide and that they sign, so we are making the fact that we have an apartment in the basement with its own entrance more prominent in our communications.
Rather than staying at a hotel for our family of 5 adults and one infant (age 13 months), we decided to rent a home. This was nearly the perfect place for its comfort, accessibility to the many restaurants and sites that has made Seattle famous. Mrs and I are seniors approaching 70 so the stairs was a bit of a challenge after going up and down, especially with no restroom on the ground floor. The listing was perfect, otherwise, in its descrption. The Rogers were friendly, and although they lived in the quarters below, never once made us feel uncomfortable with their presence. I would definitely recommend this lovely home to anyone looking for an alternitive to renting a hotel room.

Seattle Family Vacation
Seattle Family Vacation
My family and I stayed at the Blaine St house for a week of vacation in Seattle. We loved it! It was perfect for our size. My husband and 9, 4, and 1 yr old children and my father. The kids thought the bunk beds were awesome! They rotated top and bottom every night. The house was CLEAN and very well cared for. We were able to use the kitchen for breakfast and dinner every night. It was well stocked with cooking necessities. John and Candace were very gracious hosts. They were able to provide us with a baby gate, high chair, stroller & crib! Anyone who is traveling or has traveled with a little one knows that is PRICELESS! Thank you! We had several emails back and forth with John before our vacation and he was very helpful and kind, easy to communicate with and professional. John and Candace are well organized and prepared. The house décor was fantastic! It was very warm and inviting. We felt at home right away. I loved the upstairs bath with the clawfoot tub....beautiful. Well done Candace! My family lives in Seattle (some also on Queen Anne) and it was perfect location for us. We try to make a trip to Seattle every few years and we will most definitely return to the Blaine St house!

The Blaine Street House was the perfect place for our family of 4 adults while attending my son's UW graduation. Charming house, clean and comfortable with lovely courtyard garden and front porch to enjoy sunshine in Seattle. Owners were most helpful. We would recommend this home to anyone who prefers a home to a hotel!

We would like to highly recommend the Blaine house as an excellent accommodation in which to stay. Our daughter graduated from college and it was so nice to be in a home instead of a hotel. Our family of 5 stayed at the home we were very comfortable and the neighborhood is lovely, so quiet and peaceful. The home is appointed with beautiful furnishings and décor. Location is wonderful for easy access to downtown and Queen Anne, coffee and bakeries an easy walk. Thank you to our wonderful hosts as they were so accommodating to our requests. We would definitely stay here again.

Why the Owner Chose Queen Anne:
We purchased this home on Queen Anne Hill because it had 'lovely bones' and deserved restoration. The location is minutes from down town, only 20 minutes from the air port, and close to all amenities. It is located in a wonderful neighborhood with interesting and friendly people. You will love it too!
