Our week-long stay could not have been more perfect. Kari and Dan were warm, welcoming and founts of local information; the cottage itself was delightful, comfortable and spotlessly clean. It felt just as it is described -- like a much-loved home. We enjoyed the serenity of living amidst the trees and amongst the birds, and we loved the sunshine and flowers everywhere! We also enjoyed the proximity to so many beautiful places -- from downtown Carmel (and its fleet of King Charles spaniels) to Carmel Beach (and its friendly dogs and people of all spots and stripes); from the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park and waterfall to Pfeiffer State Park and Beach (when we finally found them); from the incredible views of Big Sur to the exquisite hikes of Los Lobos; and, finally, from Monterey's aquarium (free passes provided) to Big Basin's redwoods. Best of all, though, was coming "home" to a relaxing fire and peaceful evening at Enchanted Oaks at the end of every day. Thank you again, Kari and Dan!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Myself, husband and 5 yr old Labrador had a wonderful weeks holiday in this great home. We have stayed in several vactaion rentals in both USA and UK. The pictures are a true reflection of the place. It was very clean and spacious and has all the amenities of home. As the house is in the 'woods' you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but It is very conveniently situated-Its about a 5min drive to the centre of Carmel with all of the shops /resturants and the beach, and only a 2 min drive to nice restaurants/shops at the Barnyard and the Crossroads. I would not hesitate in recommending the house to others. Thank you for a lovely stay. My wife and I stayed at Enchanted oak for 3 days: April 19th to 22nd 2012 and we had a marvelous time. This cottage is well equipped with a beautiful living room and dining area and good sized kitchen with all appliances. There is a large bedroom with walk in closet and bathroom and shower. A balcony raps around the entire cottage with views of the forest. The home is quiet and relaxing yet so close to Carmel, Big Sur and Monterry with all the shops, dining and attractions this area is famous for. There are nice personal touches in this home that shows how much the owners care for their home. They responded promptly to our inquiries by E mail before we arrived, and provided directions, and when we were there answered our questions right away. They live in main house next door. They were courteous and professional. We certainly recommend this property highly and we will be back to renew our fond memories. Lovely private cottage separate from the main house, with everything provided that a traveller might need. Gorgeous location, like staying in a treehouse. Loved the very busy birdfeeder right outside the lounge patio windows. Driveway looks really scary but isn't so bad once you get used to it! The absolute best shower (couldn't get out of it!), comfy beds and lounges and a million TV channels! Sofa bed no longer works as a sofa bed but a very comfortable blow-up queen bed was provided instead. Very happy with this accommodation and would definitely recommend to others.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We stayed 13 nights and the cottage worked out well for us and our doodle Boone. Really good value particuarly since the rate incl all taxes and there's no pet feee. We'd stay here again. No big deal but the owner might want to go thru the frig and freezer sometimes to clear it out of some stuff that's left by other guests. For guests ensure that steps aren't a problem since it's a pretty steep set of steps down to and up from the cottage to street level. Minor points - overall good spot and we liked it. Nice family as owners.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway.

We spend 10 weeks a year in VRBO rentals all over the US and abroad. This charming cottage has it all. It is the quietest place we have ever stayed in. The owners live next door but respect your privacy. Our small dog was welcome and the community is the most dog-friendly place in the US. The cottage is 3 minutes from the beach by car, but sits in the woods with a fascinating bird feeder as daily entertainment. Appliances and the whole place is just two years old and perfectly maintained. For the money this cottage cannot be beat. We were there 12-28-11 to 1-08-12. Just great!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We came for our 10 year anniversary and had the best time. The home was fabulously remodelled, the pictures dont do the home justice, and the location was perfect. "Enchanted Oaks" says it all!!! It was also our first time to the Carmel area and we fell in love. Besides countless incredible restaurants, sunset bonfires and croissants at La Bicicleta are not to be missed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband & I stayed here for 2 nights in August 2011 and loved it. It's located on a hill in a quiet residential area less than 2 minute's drive from Cabrillo Hwy/1 (the main highway going to Monterrey & Carmel). It took us about 5 minutes to get to Carmel, 10 to get to downtown Monterey. Both of these towns are fun but very busy with lots of traffic, so we enjoyed exploring them during the day but liked getting away from the noise in the evening. I looked at about 20 hotels in Monterey & Carmel and this is an excellent value, especially considering the 2 aquarium passes (see below) and that all taxes are already included in the rental price. I really appreciated that the owners responded quickly to my initial rental inquiry, which is helpful if you're trying to plan a last minute getaway. They're very friendly and live on the property. They're available for help if you need it, but otherwise you'll have your privacy. I left them a voice message asking if they had any matches for the dining room candles and 5 minutes later, the owners' daughter was at our front door with a couple packs. The 2 free aquarium passes are a great value, since it allows admission for 2 adults ($60). You also get to use the Member's entrance and skip the regular lines (at least 30 people waiting at 12pm on a weekday). Like others have mentioned, it's a good idea to go when it opens at 9.30 am. The house looks like it was remodeled recently. It is very clean, well furnished and would be great for a long weekend or even longer stay. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, dishes, cooking supplies, spices, oil, etc. It was so nice that we cancelled our plans to eat out in Carmel and cooked dinner at the house. It was too chilly to sit outside, but the view over the ravine is beautiful and very private. They have DISH TV with every channel, a nice working fireplace, comfortable couches and bed. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife & I stayed here for 4 nights in July. The pictures and reviews don't do it justice. Peaceful, serene, and state of the art. We were greeted with a warm fire upon our arrival. Rich wood floors, stainless steel appliances, large master & bath with walk-in closet, and wraparound decks surrounded by nature. Comfortable & cozy, you couldn't ask for a better place. Perfect location to the entire Monterey Penisula. Book this place before it is too late.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We have been talking about the delightful Enchanted Oaks ever since we left. It's wonderfully comfortable and convenient. Cozy and roomy at the same time. We would have loved to stay longer. The photos are very accurate. It was as clean and neat when we arrived as it is in the photos. Beyond the professional, warm welcome from our hosts, we were welcomed every morning by more than a half-dozen woodpeckers at the feeder on the deck. Delightful breakfast company! Be sure to use the aquarium passes - and go early in the day. The Monterey Aquarium is a not to miss attraction. Head south another day and enjoy the absolutely gorgeous Big Sur drive. Then back to the comfort and privacy of the deck at Enchanted Oaks. We also had a lovely time at Chateau Julien Winery. .Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

About the owner: This Property has been in our family for over 40 years. The main house which we now reside in was Kari's childhood home. We moved in and built the cottage, Enchanted Oaks, in 2009. We feel so blessed to be able to raise our two daughters in this incredible place and look forward to sharing it with you.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The peace and tranquility of this special place are hard to describe. Looking over the canyon and at level with the tree tops offers a very unique perspective and is the perfect place to take in nature. The birds are abundant and their songs fill the air. We've enjoyed the presence of a pair of Great Horned Owls many nights this year as well as visits from deer, quail, woodpeckers and even a few Bobcat and coyote sightings. On warm days we open the doors and let the sounds, sights and sweet smell of nature in. Our Cocker Spaniel Zeke spends his days playing ball and running in the woods, a dog's paradise.
