Camp Nelson cabin description
I bought this home to make family memories. It has more than exceeded my expectations, now I'd like to share my space with you. Come, enjoy the fresh air, beautiful views, amazing stars and a peaceful setting. When you walk through the doors you'll think you're home. Pets are now allowed with a pet deposit.
You may see deer walking through the yard, blue jays begging for peanuts (you might want to bring some) and other wildlife. Don't forget your camera.
You enjoy the comfort of queen beds upstairs and an antique iron double bed downstairs. There are traces of my collections around the house. Enjoy the chicken quilt on the wall - they seem to be running somewhere in both directions.
At times you'll find a seasonal stream running behind the house. When this is dry there is a stream close by and if you open your windows at night you can usually hear it running.
Pierpoint is a close walk, so if you want to go down and kick up your heels, you are close enough to do so. Nelson's Place is another hangout. Go, sit a spell and meet the locals. The mountain is extremely friendly. Pierpoint and Nelson's Place both have entertainment at times.
You can take a short drive up the mountain and go to Ponderosa. They have an amazing chili cook-off. The mountain festival brings lots of fun things to do and don't miss the July 4th parade. It's a blast - no fireworks, though.
My house sits up on a knoll, so you've got privacy. You can explore, hike, find lots of pine cones and at times, wonderful tulips and daffodils bloom.
You'll enjoy sitting on the front deck glider while relaxing and enjoying the views.
The living room, dining room and entry way are all knotty pine - it's really rustic.
The kitchen is really roomy. There is tons of counter space, nice stove and dishwasher (who wants to do dishes on vacation) that makes your stay more enjoyable.
If you or your friend's are quilters, you'll find this home well equipped for your adventure. Bring a group of friends and come quilt in the beauty of the Sequoia's. You'll find a table behind the couch - it will help you sew!
Come and enjoy - but book early so you're not disappointed.
Make your own memories.

A real surprise
A real surprise
We booked this place, thinking that it wasn't far from Sequoia national park but far away from the crowd. We were wrong on the first half of the sentence. It took about 3 hours to get to the Sherman tree in Sequoia national park and the driving on winding roads is really exiting. This place is really quite and cozy and has all the necessities. Now here comes the surprise. There is a Stagg tree fairly close in private land but open to public. The day we went there, the road was clear of snow except for the last mile. None of us were equipped with snow shoes but the walk is very manageable even for my wife who is 6months pregnant. We had the entire pristine snow packed forest all to ourselves and what a scene! There are other hidden jewels. At about 2000 feet elevation, right off hwy 190 there are a few vista points and camping grounds. Definitely find time to stop there. Beautiful scenery, lots of riverside rock-climbing fun for the kids. It was raining the day we left. The entire mountain was covered by a mysterious layer of veil. We had to stop and take pictures.

About: I'm a fourth generation quilter. I found great peace quilting in the mountains. I'm retired and love traveling and enjoying nature. I am a retired Letter Carrier and enjoyed that chapter in my life greatly. I have a beautiful Granddaughter who is quite active in helping 'Grandma' get things right. My children are my greatest joy. There isn't much more important in my life than my family.
Why Camp Nelson:
Camp Nelson is really a pretty easy drive with its central location. I had visited my cousin and his wife for several years and when this home came available I thought why not!! Living in Camp Nelson is just like being on a wonderful, peaceful vacation. There is cross country skiing up the mountain, maybe a little snow mobiling and beautiful surroundings. Seeing the Aspens in the fall is breathtaking. It just doesn't get any better.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
I enjoy the peacful surroundings, the beauty of nature and you feel so much closer to the stars. If I decide I don't want to cook - I can walk down to Pierpoint or drive to Nelson's Place and get a great hamburger. Family night is really fun. I have had great meals and I didn't even have to do the dishes. My best friend's grandson caught some great trout when he came to visit. He also attended Vacation Bible School at the Church.
