Conveniently located to everything. Quiet, no traffic noise. The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed. The photos accurately reflect the cabins. The owners were very friendly and helpful with information about the area. We liked watching the deer in the yard. We would definitely stay here again.

After contacting many other "cabin type" rental sites, we agreed that American Pines had the best accommodations, location, and family friendly appearance. When we arrived to the American Pines location we found very well kept landscaping and adorable cabins. The cabins are surrounded by gorgeous pines and mountains, but you are also very close to all of the major attractions Keystone has to offer. We drove to Mt. Rushmore in about 10 minutes. The kitchens and bathrooms are stocked with all the necessities you need while being away from home. The cabin was very clean and had a homey-rustic feel to it. The cabins provide two bedrooms and enough room for a small family to have their privacy. Our only complaints were that the queen beds were a little hard (we all woke up with sore backs) and the A/C wall unit was rather loud (but the coolness was very appreciated!). The owners are great with keeping in contact with you and the reservation/check-out process was super easy and quick! Thank you for a great stay, we will definitely be returning next summer!

Someone else said this, there are NO suprises - everything is just like the info they give you. Super clean, close to everything but a quiet location. We passed some of the other cabins that I had considered, gosh, glad I read the reviews, they really DO help. We had plenty of room, but if you are planning to cook and eat inside the cabin, I think it would be crowded for more than two. We had lots of luggage (two seniors traveling for 9 days and cooking all of our meals) so we used the second bedroom for luggage. If you don't have children, cabins 2,3, and 6 might be better, the playground area is close to cabin 4 and 5. Even with lots of children in the playground area (we were in cabin 5) we did not hear much, so apparently they cabins are well insulated. Wild turkeys and deer in the yard - no mosquitos when we were there, but lots of flies. Thank you Becki, we would recommend American Pines very highly!!!

Loved the cabin. It is in a great location (quiet, peaceful). We had a wonderful time. The cabin was spotless. Becki came over when we arrived and was just so nice and accommodating. Loved the fact that we were able to bring our smallest dog (chihuahua)! Also had a great time looking at the deer right in the front and back yard!

great location! super clean and well furnished cabin. I arrived at 8:00 pm, having hit a deer 10 miles away. Becki was there to meet me and show me around the cabin. Jarod did a quick inspection of the car and retied my hood down for me. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful the next morning when I found packets of coffee for teh coffee pot, since I'd forgotten to pack any. Made my day! They both have a wealth of knowledge of the area and what might interest you. I would encourage those of you who can to consider staying during this time of year - weather was very pleasant - around 60°, and nothing was crowded. I hope to return either in the fall or next spring (just won't drive that last stretch in the dark.

Stayed Here the first week of October. Other than some attractions being closed for the season we had a wonderful time. The cabin was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The place was east to find and only about 1 1/2 miles from downtown Keystone (this was a good thing if you like peace and quiet). Becky called us on our way the day we were to arrive and made sure everything was right before our planned arrival. Friendly, down home people. Also, we had a $10.00 per night discpount because of the time of year. The Keystone/Hill City train passed right behind the cabin and was fun to watch and wave at the kids. Wild life, deer and turkey everywhere. We will definately stay here again if we come back to the Black Hills. May even make a special trip.

The cabins are on Old Hill City Road, a quiet county road connecting Hill City and Keystone, Our cabin was cozy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Everything worked - nothing funky about this place! Wild turkeys roamed the front yard and the 1880's steam train ran behind it. No worries about noise from the train - it runs only during the day. Becky and Jarrod are exceptional hosts and do everything to make guests comfortable. We were sorry to leave after our week-long stay and will definitely stay there again if we return to the Black Hills.

We took our 3 grandchildren (ages 11,12, &13) to South Dakota for the 4th of July and stayed at American Pines for 3 nights. It was a great location to go in and out of the areas we wanted to tour. It also gave us time to play at the cabins. The cabins were very clean, and when we inquired about getting another chair, Becky brought a chair from her home for us to use. They were also very informative regarding area activities. Kids loved Alpine Slide and Bear Country. Becky let us know to go to Bear Country early in the morning for feeding time and we were able to see a lot of activity. Needles drive and climbing the rocks were a big hit as well. Places to eat in Keystone: Big Time Pizza and Peggy's Place. We would definitely stay at American Pines again. Thank you, Becky and Jared for your hospitality.

About the owner: We are a small family owned & operated business specializing in offering personal, friendly service. We own a vacation rental business as well as a towing business in the area because we want to be able to be home when our 3 boys get off the bus, we want to be able to play & work together, & we want to raise our children with strong ethics which included hard work & playing in the great outdoors!! Our love for God, country, & family is why we do what we do & at the heart of our business. We've been blessed to call the Black Hills home & would love to share it with you. We'ld love to have you stay with us, JAROD, BECKI, AUSTIN, CODY & KYLE

                                  Why the Owner Chose Keystone:
Becki's family is originally from Keystone. She has relatives that helped pioneer the town as well as help carve Mt. Rushmore. Jarod's family is from the Wall & Kadoka, South Dakota, the Badlands area. Beside Mt. Rushmore being the National Monument, Keystone is full of living history of the miner era that once made the town thrive. The Black Hills is also full of geological history & a favorite for rock hunters, which we are, & rock climbers, which we aren't:). The small hometown atmosphere of the Black Hills as well as the many diverse sites & attractions makes this the perfect place to make memories for a lifetime, again & again.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Hiking right out the front door, driving through the Pigtail Bridges, making S'mores over an open fire, playing tag with the kids in the backyard, 5 minutes to Mt. Rushmore, cliff-jumping at Horsethief Lake, looking through unique shops in Keystone, going on a cave tour, laying on the grass & looking up at the stars, rock collecting, fishing at Lakota Lake, swimming at Little Falls, exploring Ingersol mine, playing at the city park in Keystone, participating in small town parades & events, enjoying being together with our family.
