We just returned form staying at this property. It is the most peaceful place that we've ever spent a vacation. There are plenty of things to do within driving distance. We rented a pontoon boat for the week at a local marina that allowed us to enjoy Durham Creek and the Pamlico River. The fishing was fun and the kids ennjoyed tubing on the river. Great place!!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

To our hostess thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. Garrisons Point was beyond our expectations and the enviroment was astonishling beautiful. Much of our days were spent doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the screen porch and hammock with a good book or an iced beverage. Many times throughout the day we would explore our surroundings either by foot, bicycle, kayak. We found that many of our adventures were down along the river looking for shark teeth or fossils. One day I spent several hours in the kayak exploring Durham Creek and had the opportunity to get an amazing picture of an eagle as it perched high atop a dead pine tree over looking the water. Dolphins would swim by every evening at one point we counted 12 as they made their way up and down the river. We were lured to the historic district of Bath where we explored the Marsh-Palmer house, the old court house and the old high school as well as the beautiful landscaped gardens and homes. Deer were plentiful on Garrisons Point and are moving throughout the entire day and we enjoyed the exciment of catching a glimspe of one of these beautiful creatures. The house more than provided the comforts of home. The home had the feel of how it was "back in the day". You could almost hear the sound of fishermen as they would come home with their catch of flounder, crab or drum. We left our own legacy as we added to the excitment of the home catching our meal of flounder and blue crab. This was definetly the most relaxing and fun filled time I have experienced on vacation in a long, long time. To those of you who are seriously considering Garrisons Point, you will not be denied the comforts of home nor the excitment of adventure for any age. Once again I thank our hostess and her son for putting together a wonder portfolio of their splendid home. On the return trip home we were preparing for next years vacation in hopes of returning to Garrisons Point.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
