This is a beautiful home with alot of room, but be aware there are no pictures of the back of the house for a reason, there are no decks on the back of the house but there are patio doors in several places on each level that open to mid-air on the two upper levels. The outdoor grill and fire ring are near the lake but right next to the owners cottage so not much privacy. The home owner also lives in the beach house on the property which gives you the feeling of being "watched over"and he also billed us for very minor repairs (which we decided not to pay) we felt the cost of the property for one week should be enough to cover "wear and tear repairs". It would also be hard to sleep more than 10 people without using sofas and floors. We enjoyed the area very much with our two sons and their families (nine in all) and would like to go back again sometime but will not return to this home!!Owner response: This guest did not raise these issues until after receipt of the damage charges. In my opinion, their complaints are a self-rationalization for their refusal to pay for what they damaged. The listing did and does incorporate a virtual tour link that provides an in-depth overview of the property, including the rear of the home. Yes, the decks have yet to be constructed and accordingly are not featured, advertised nor incorporated into the rate. All the patio doors are equipped with double action, child rated, locks to limit young children from opening the doors. The listing references the beach house is available on request and additional charge. Likewise, the third line of the rental agreement executed by this guest states "Main House, exclusive of the Beach House upper level." We believe it would not be fair for our guests to share the outdoor amenities with another party and, as such, only offer the main house and beach house simultaneously to the same guest. However, my bride and I from time to time will stay in the beach house while we have guests in the main house, as it was during this guest's stay. Both my wife and I have careers and short of Sunday afternoon and late weekday afternoon/evenings, are not on the property. When we are, we make every effort to be as unobtrusive as possible and certainly do not "watch over" our guests. We agree the VRBO listing mechanism that states "sleeps 10 to 20" is misleading and as was the case with guest, they disregarded the “10” and only paid attention to the 20. That is why we did and do detail the size of the beds in each of the five bedrooms within the listing, establishing the 10 (two in each of the five bedrooms) of the 20. When we created the listing on VRBO, 20 was/is the field described as maximum occupancy, not the number the beds will sleep. This was and is clarified in the rate section. The items damaged by this guest were not minor, as claimed, but rather significant and not normal wear. If we were to, as this guest suggests, cover them as “wear and tear repairs”, then we would have to pass this expense on in a rate increase that would be shared by the vast majority of our guests who treat our property with the same respect and care they give their own. Would that be fair to those guests or you as a perspective guest?

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: A warm hello from Kurt and Tami! We consider ourselves truly blessed by God's gifts to us and that we can share them. Both of us were born & raised in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Kurt operates a communications business and Tami is a school administrator. Part of Kurt's upbringing was in the building trades. Being blessed with the abilty to learn and implement skills, Kurt designed and built much of the home himself. Being a bit of a perfectionist and a gadget lover, the attention to detail is obvious and the home has many, many extra features.
Why the Owner Chose Nisswa:
Kurt's grandparents owned property on Round Lake when he was a boy, in the '60s. Since his boyhood, it was always his dream to own a Round Lake property.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
A summer morning swim to the raft in water that is mirror smooth under a bright blue sky is simply awe inspiring. An evening pontoon boat ride for dinner at the Quarter Deck is a picture perfect close to a wonderful day on the lake.
