What a lovely stay we had. First of all, the location is perfect for getting away from all the hubbub of Bar Harbor. It's close to everything (because the island is not that big) and we never saw the neighbors. The ocean is less than 100 yards away and the view is breath-taking Our host was close by and made us feel so welcome, clued us in to where to pick up groceries, and suggested some of the restaurants and shops to visit. This beautiful cottage is warm, so comfortably appointed, and full of the little touches that make it stand out from the rest. From the skylight, thick huge towels, and "aaah" rain shower in the bathroom to the oh so comfortable king size bed to everything you need to do laundry to a kitchen with all the extras we were impressed. It was spotless and classy. When we come back, we will spend less time touring around and much more time right here in this great cottage.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

I'd give this property 6 stars if I could! Everything was perfect -- setting, cleanliness, decor, towels, bedding --- you name it and it was perfect! I have NEVER stayed in a rental that had a better equipped kitchen! Beautiful view and grounds. The deer come right next to the proch to eat the rose hips and you can pick fresh veggies from the owner's garden. The new bathroom is fantastic! The owner is very helpful.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at the Seawall Cottage. Photographs don't do the place justice. As lovely as the setting is (ocean, lush lawn, pond, sculpture, vegetable and flower garden), the inside of the cottage is equally terrific. Grant and Becky have made sure that every amenity is in place. From the well equipped kitchen, to the gorgeous bathroom, and comfortable living area, there isn't much more you can ask for. We loved the ocean view from the porch and the dining area. We took advantage of nearby Acadia National Park (hiking, wonderful vistas, etc.), and enjoyed the restaurants and shops in Southwest Harbor. Of all the VRBO properties we have rented, this cottage is the best. We are looking forward to a longer stay in 2013.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much. See you next year!

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful week at Seawall. The newly renovated cabin is in a great quiet location just yards from the sea and within easy travelling distance to S.West Harbor and hiking all around Acadia. The place is tastefully done, with everything you need for comfort, warmth and any kind of cooking. We'd highly recommend it for couples or single people of any ages.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We are thrilled you had a great time. All the work we did on the place seems to be well received. Please come again.

Everything in the cottage lived up to the description. The place is immaculate with new appliances and very comfortable furniture. Cable TV and WiFi worked perfectly. Towels were lush. Even cell service was good, so I could use my Blackberry. Great location right on the natural seawall. My daughter and her boyfriend joined us for 3 days and though it was "cozy", we never felt cramped. The deer roaming the property were very tame. Bike storage in the garage worked well since we got some of the inevitable Acadia rain. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We loved our stay at here. Without any hesitation we would recommend it. The setting is a lovely private sanctuary, right on the beach at Seawall. We felt at home immediately in the ship shape and well furnished cottage. Our hosts showed us the utmost hospitality, and really went above and beyond for us. We felt like honored and welcome guests on their beautiful property. Look forward to returning as soon as we can.Recommended for: Pet owners, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Location
Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: Owners on property in main house on the 3 acre estate. We live here about half of the year. Our son is grown and on his own, so it is very quiet here.
Why the Owner Chose Southwest Harbor:
Our family has vacationed and lived in the area for generations, so it was preordained that we would end up somewhere nearby. When we had a chance to buy this place we jumped on it.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We found this property 14 years ago abandoned because of the time and expense it takes to keep an oceanfront property up to date. It took us 10 years to get it right, but now it is a truly first class environment.
