This is a beautiful cabin right on Plum Lake. The cabin has been recently updated and easily accomidated our party of 4 adults and 1 child with room to spare. We couldn't have asked for better accomodations. This cabin sits on the historic Froelich's Sayner Lodge property, which has many listed amenities. Due to the season we were unable to partake in their use, but for those traveling during peak season you may find the pool and restaurant worth your while. The lodge itself offers a bit of nostalgia for those a little older than myself; however, to some it may be off putting. However, when you stay in this cabin you don't even have the need to leave other than to take in the great outdoors. I would highly recommend this cabin to those with young children and families. We had plenty of room for our pack n' play in the larger of the two bedrooms. Don't miss the opportunity for a great family vacation at the Lakeview cabin.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family of 5 were very comfortable in this great log cabin. Nice view of the lake. The rest of the site was "rustic", which was nice in a nostalgic way. There is an old historic lodge, old tennis court, old playground equipment, old docks and boat house, etc. The beach appears to be somewhat man made and is very small. Pool is nice, but very small and shaded by trees. If you are ready for a rustic vacation in a beautiful part of the state, this is a great place with a very nice cabin. If you want newer or more functional amenities you should probably consider a more upscale resort with better maintenance and up-keep.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had the most wonderful vacation at the Lakeview cabin on the beautiful shores of Plum Lake. The accommodations were incredible just like the pictures posted on the website. We loved relaxing in the cozy screen porch with the amazing views of the lake. The woodland landscape and the Plum Lake scenery was unbelievable. We enjoyed hiking the Fallison Lake Trail, Shannon Lake Trail and the beautiful grounds of Froelich's Sayner Lodge where you are sure to run into Pansey, their resident deer. It's a great place to canoe too. The kids had an exciting adventure paddling the canoe on the crystal clear waters of Plum Lake to the portage trail through Plum Lake Hemlock Forest to Star Lake. The boat deck was a great place to view the eagles and loons. We can still hear the call of the loons. While boating we spotted a spectacular eagle's nest with an eagle and two young eagle. We had a delightful time at Froelich's Sayner Lodge Bar and Grill. We especially enjoyed viewing the amusing hummingbirds at their feeders by the window, the delicious food, and the friendly staff. We can't recommend this place enough - it was pure paradise! We definitely want to return next year for more unforgettable memories.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

This vacation property is fantastic. The cabin is accurately described and is even better than the photos depict. Plum Lake is a gorgeous northern wisconsin lake with crystal clear water. We saw three active eagle nests, deer swimming across the lake to get to an island and a wild swan to name just a few. Fishing was slow during our week, but everything else was so wonderful that we didn't mind. We found horseback riding in nearby Eagle River, and enjoyed eating at the Sayner Pub, as well as the bar and grill that is on site at Froelich's Lodge.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

We had a wonderful time up north. We were worried there would be no snow but there was just enough to go snowmobiling. The cabin was just perfect for us. It was warm and cozy after a day of sledding. The cabin was just as expected from the description and the photos. I felt very comfortable putting things on the counter and floors with it being so clean. Every restaurant up north is great! We love going to the Sayner Pub, Dorway to the North, Black Oak, Bent's Camp. These are all restaurants on the snowmobile trails with friendly people and great food. We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: From the day we began our remodel project, our goal was to create a retreat that one envisions when looking to vacation in Wisconsin's beautiful northwoods. Along with the atmosphere, we pride ourselves in making cleanliness, comfort, and a desire to improve, our top priorities. We have many repeat visitors. Thank you and we look forward to your stay again next winter.

Cabin description was very accurate. However, the ammenties at Froelich resort were very poor. The entire grounds Other than this cabin needs updating. It seemed that nothing was tended to. The pool was very dirty, the pontoon, and fishing boats were very old. The beach is not a beach at all, just a small and rocky shoreline, which happens to have sand there. It is a treacherous walk for elderly from the cabin to the lake. There were exposed roots and a terrible path. The main boat docks were falling from the supports and very dangerous. Despite all the negatives , we really enjoyed our stay at Plum lake. We took grandma and 2 young kids who loved fishing for crayfish and feeding chipmonks. Tried to fish more but no one was ever at the main desk to inquire about renting a boat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
Owner response: Froelich’s is a resort that is more than 100 years old, and that is part of the charm that attracted us and many others to this place. Everyone sees things in a different light depending on personal taste, attitude, frame of mind, etc.—in other words “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. While the pool is old, it is located among virgin pine, hemlock, maple and birch trees providing a rustic, north woods setting. That wonderful setting also presents a problem in that those beautiful trees do drop debris into the pool—constantly. The small staff does clean the pool regularly, but the owner advises that they are looking into installing an automatic cleaning system. Guests can enjoy the more than 1200 feet of shore area which is beautiful sand—I know because I have waded a lot of it and kayaked most of it. I don’t recall having stepped on any rocks during the many hours I have spent in the water with my grandchildren. The water is a little higher right now which has somewhat reduced the area for building sand castles. I am told by the owner, that the root situation, which is the result of erosion and walking traffic over the years, is being considered. Winter ice is very hard on permanent docks. All of the pilings were redone just a few years ago and we have been assured that the docks are indeed safe. There is a continental breakfast included with our cabin rental. Lodge personnel are on hand during that time (7 AM to 10 AM) and it is the best time to catch them for rentals, etc. They can also usually be reached on the resort phone. The owner states that the nominal rent charged for the resort’s older pontoon boat barely covers operation costs. If a newer(more expensive) boat is desired, one can be rented by contacting any of the rental facilities located in towns nearby. We are happy that you found our cabin description to be accurate and that you enjoyed your stay.

We have 3 children ages 5,7,&9. The cabin was brand new and spotless. Tons of windows with beautiful views of the lake. The kids had fun boating, kayaking and playing in the crystal clear water. I was able to sit on the beach and relax! This place evokes memories from childhood resorts that have all but disappeared. You will not regret staying here! There is fishing as well with Muskie, walleye, and bass. Razorback ridge is close by for mountain biking so next time we are bringing our bikes. Also, there is a great bakery and coffee shop attached to the grocery store in St. Germain which we visited many mornings. Our family also did some geocaching and mini-golfing. So much to do, I was sad to leave but we'll be back next year! Thanks for the stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: We purchased 'Lakeview' in 2004, and completely remodeled it removing all existing interior walls, insulating to make it year around and redesigning the interior to suit our personal needs. The interior is therefore entirely new including appliances and most furnishings. There are two complete baths with large showers all in a rustic, 'northwoods' flavor. We are two retired brothers who along with our wives endeavored to create our comfortable cabin retreat on one of the primier lakes in the north. We know that you will enjoy your stay at 'Lakeview' cabin.
Why the Owner Chose Sayner:
We chose Plum Lake because it is just a beautiful lake with its 1108 acres it has plenty of room to boat, fish, etc. and has beautiful wooded islands, protected bays, virgin pines, crystal clear water that is spring fed and therefore is not subject to fluctuations in water level as many other lakes are, sand beaches, rustic boat houses, golf course on its shores, eagles, deer and loons and its shoreland is about half state owned so it is never crowded, and all of this within minutes of town and many amenities.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We enjoy the flower garden next to 'Lakeview', skiing-both water and snow, boating, fishing, watching the eagles and loons, playing cards either on the screen porch or in the cabin while enjoying the beautiful views of the lake, swimming in the lake or the heated pool, sunning on either of the decks, cooking out, cooking in the wonderful kitchen, campfires, fires in the fireplace, tennis in nearby Sayner, horseshoes, shuffleboard, visiting the pub for happy hour and a sandwich, golfing, visiting the many excellent restaurants close by, curling up with a good book, hiking on the many beautiful nearby trails in autumn, biking on the wonderful paved bike trail that passes close by and takes you past numerous lakes such as Crystal and Trout, roaming the grounds at Froelich's, walking the nearly deserted adjacent roads, visiting the many closeby shops, watching the kids sled Muskie Mountain, kayaking to the islands and 'Hooks' point, watching the water ski show across the lake and the 4th of July fireworks from the deck on top of the boat house, going to the flea market every week in St. Germain, geocaching the more than 350 caches in the area, and mountain biking the nearly 30 miles of trails at Razorback Ridges--just to name a few!
