Great Place To Escape the Summer Heat
This unit was great. Very clean and well-maintained. Big enough to get separation, yet small enough to feel cozy. Right in the heart of everything and walking distance to everything in Steamboat (except for Mt. Werner).

Great location!Guest comment entered by owner
We were very impressed with the condo! It was spacious and clean, and the amenities (large kitchen, washer and dryer, etc.) were great. The location was perfect - walking distance to everywhere downtown and everywhere else we needed to go was just a short drive.

Great Condo, Bad Neighborhood
Great Condo, Bad Neighborhood
This is a good news, bad news review. First, the good news. This condo is in excellent shape. The owner has furnished it with comfortable furniture. Everything - with one exception - was in perfect working order when we arrived. The one exception was that the WiFi was not working but the local property manager responded promptly and came over and fixed it. Also, the place was very clean and included nice touches such as shampoo and lotion in the bathrooms. The bad news is the location. We were looking forward to staying here, on Yampa Street, along the river, close to the bike path and hiking trails. What we found was that the property is just across the street from one of the loudest bars on earth. Every night until 2:00-3:00 in the morning it sounded like college spring break with constant drunken shouts and screams. The noise was impossible to ignore. Even with all of the windows closed and two fans running full blast, we still were kept awake and wakened repeatedly. Early in the morning sleeping late was impossible as the garbage trucks arrived and emptied dumpsters. I think I counted 5 or 6 bars/restaurants across the street with outdoor patios. Most had music. All were noisy when they emptied out at night. One bar set up a stage outside with serious amps that blasted music up and down the valley from 11:00 AM until 11:00 PM that day. Local residents complained that the music carried almost to the ski area. We hiked on Howelsen Hill and never could escape the persistant noise. I realize that this noise problem is not the owner's fault. Probably this bar scene developed after the property was built. But, be forwarned if you stay here: you'll think you're at a drunken fraternity party. Also, for what it's worth, we live in a large urban area in a mixed-use neighborhood. We're four blocks from a college and two blocks from a fire station. We have traffic on our street. We have renters -some of whom are college students - across the street from us, beside us, and behind us. We're used to lots of comings and goings and the occasional loud night. We've been coming to Steamboat on vacations for over 30 years and it saddens us to see parts of town turning into a big bar scene. Next time we'll look for a place on the mountain.

About the owner: I've been a traveler forever and enjoy exploring. The Colorado mountains have stolen my heart. I come back every summer for as long as I can and cry when I leave... it's that nice.
Why the Owner Chose Residences of Old Town:
I feel in love with Steamboat Springs from the first moment I came down Rabbit Ears Pass. Having been in the Colorado mountain real estate market for over a decade, this is the best of choices - altitude is comfortable for everyone, lots of choices, family-oriented and most of all, you can still see real cowboys and cowgirls in town. This is a true western town and I just can't get enough of it!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
This is such a great location. I walk to the health food market for a yummy breakfast while watching the activity on the river. I might take a little walk into town and find a cute spot for lunch surrounded by gorgeous flowers and hummingbirds. If I leave town I may drive out towards Steamboat Lake and take a hike in one of the parks there. Dinner can be as much fine dining or tapas as I'd like. The stars are amazing and I love the smell of such clean air.
