We were delighted to be able to spend four days over Christmas at this charming and well furnished apartment. Chris made us feel at home right from the beginning and we enjoyed a cozy vacation with views of the mountain, watching the deer in her front yard, cross country skiing near Aspen and learning more about Chris and her incredible artistic talent. The kitchen was well furnished with everything we needed to cook our holiday fare and we were all very comfortable. Thank you for making our stay memorable!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

We had a great stay at the house. Chris is a great host who respects your privacy yet is always available for good conversation. Our 2 young boys, ages 6 and 8 loved playing with her 2 dogs. the house was tastefully furnished with modern appliances and plenty of room. it's amazing waking up in the morning and seeing Mt. Soporis right in front of you. we used her house as a base to take in the sights at glenwood springs and aspen. After a days adventure it was nice coming back to relax in the peace of the mountain at night.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers.

My husband and I were so happy with our stay here. The views are peaceful and awe-inspiring. It is so clean and furnished beautifully. Chris, the owner, has it arranged very comfortably. We were able to do lots of bird watching right from the patio in the backyard. The kitchen is great and we had many meals right here. We brought our dog and there was a yard for her that she loved. The location is so convenient to hiking, fishing, shopping. Chris adds lots of little touches that made our stay very special. Thanks, Chris. We would love to come back and we'll recommend you to many friends.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway.

So lucky to find this excellent choice. Owner is an accomplished artist and this lower half of her home is very tastefully finished with many thoughtful touches. This apartment opens onto a beautiful patio and yard that has a perfect view of Mt Sopris. The full kitchen and island is very convenient for all your meals. The 2 BR apartment is quiet and private; it is pet friendly with a yard and fenced in area for dogs. The owner is also a Vet Tech who loves animals. She was a supreior hostess, friendly and interesting but absolutely not invasive. Her workshop is on sight if you are interested in her distinctive artwork. You are close to Carbondale and lots of biking and hiking. Carbondale has become an interesting and desireable town to visit. I will stay here again. A real find!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for this glowing review! Come back any time.

The rental is everything the listing suggests and more. It is comfortable and well equiped with minor touches most other properties lack. My wife and I stayed two nights and would like to stay longer next visit. It is more like staying at a friends house than renting a room. Chris was warm, very welcoming and helpful with anything we asked about.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you-I look forward to seeing you again. You were great renters, and so comfortable to have here. Chris

Quiet, scenic, cozy apartment. Four of us - 2 adults, 2 teens - stayed in this wonderful spot. Chris is an excellent host, artist and local resource. Lazy mornings drinking coffee on the patio while birdwatching and taking in the spectacular view of Mt. Sopris. Nearby hike & bike trails, rivers, great restaurants. Tasteful, hand-hewn decor with all new appliances, a fantastic kitchen, and an intriguing book collection. Chris went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. I'll be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We had booked an apartment but felt more like we were staying in a friendly B&B -- without the breakfast but with wonderful conversation with Chris, the owner. She is a delight -- so excited about making the apartment comfortable and inviting, including wonderful artwork on the walls and fresh flowers on the kitchen counter. Our dog was welcomed as well. The location is a drive from Aspen but great for people, like us, who don't want to be in the middle of the bustle of town. Very peaceful rural neighborhood encourages walks with wonderful views of the valley. (The photos don't adequately show the lovely lawn area off the patio with Mt. Sopris in full view and the large property.) We have already recommended it to friends!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1990
About the owner: I moved from Minnesota to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1987. As a life long artist, I have been designing and building award winning leather bonded furniture since my daughter was born in 1991. My studio is here on the property. I have just completed 3 years at CMC-our local community college-getting a degree in Veterinary Technology. My daughter and I have shared our home with many friends, dogs, cats and horses over the years. We love to ride horses, and mess about with the animals.
Why the Owner Chose Carbondale:
I have been privileged to live in the Roaring Fork Valley since 1987and I have lived in this house since 1990. After raising my daughter who is now nearly 20, I want to share this wonderful place with other people.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
This is a very down to earth, sweet place in the world. Beautiful, comfortable, friendly. You can be out and about all day and come back with friends and make your own indoor/outdoor dinner, or have some peace and quiet, read a book and watch the sunsets. You can enjoy a morning cup of coffee and a walk around the neighborhood or walk up to Spring Park Reservoir. There is so much to do , and yet you don't have to do anything but slow down and enjoy the scenery.
