Chattanooga townhome description
*****FIRST TIME OFFERING THIS PROPERTY*****
Come to City-View and literally 'see Chattanooga' from 3 private balconies. It is located on a dead end street in the Ridge Side community on the side of historic Missionary Ridge overlooking the 'scenic city' of Chattanooga. The entire front of both levels is glass with sliding glass doors opening onto covered balconies. You can view 4 mountains from City-View, Lookout Mountain, Elder Mountain, Signal Mountain and just a tip of Sand Mountain, as well as the entire downtown Chattanooga area. This west facing view allows you to see some awesome sunsets as the sun sinks behind the mountains. And then the beautiful sparkling city lights begin to blink on all the way to the Tennessee River and beyond. City-view has been very tastefully furnished and decorated. There is original artwork from local artists, some available for purchase. The kitchen is fully furnished with everything you need. Linens, towels, paper and soap products and coffee supplies are provided, along with a complimentary bottle of wine for your enjoyment. City-view provides privacy away from the city bustle, but is still so close to anything you want to do in town.

What We Wished We Had Known
What We Wished We Had Known
The best thing about City View is the view; however, since we visited in the summer the trees were much fuller and the view wasn’t as good as the pictures on the site that were taken when leaves weren’t on the trees. The things we wished we had noticed from the website were the dated décor and the many tchotchkes. Things we wish we had known that we couldn’t tell from the website were: the musty smell inside the unit that never went away even when the air was turned on; the bugs inside, the two sets of very steep steps inside the unit (hazardous for toddlers and people over 50), only two washcloths for two people the entire stay (there were plenty of towels but only two washcloths), and the treacherous driveway. The four night minimum seems excessive. We let the owner know we could only spend three nights, but no concession was offered. We spent three nights, but paid for four. We won’t do that again, especially at City View.

Owner response: Dear Nashville guest, I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay at City-View. We have not gotten feedback like this from any of our other guests. The pictures of the view were taken at the time we first made City-View available for rent. Most people would know by looking at the pictures that trees with no leaves would have leaves in the growing season and a summer visitor should not expect a winter view. As far as the decor, City-View is a retro townhome and our effort was to keep that "retro" feel with the furnishings. It was actually more difficult to find good clean older style furniture than it would have been to buy new. When we stay at any vacation rental, we enjoy the uniqueness of being surrounded by things you wouldn't see on a furniture showroom floor, interesting, eclectic items. Sorry you didn't appreciate that. The "musty" smell, we found out after you left was from a roof leak around a clogged gutter. It had seeped in and soaked some of the carpet on the back underground side of the building and the unit had been vacant for over a week before your arrival with the A/C turned off. As for the bugs, the only ones we are aware of are wasps and moths, which we do treat for and leave spray and swatters. We have not had any other type of bugs reported by any guests. The stairs should have been an obvious item if you even looked at the outside picture of the building, and, by the way, City-View is advertised as "not suitable for children" and if anyone lets us know they have older guests, we always advise them of the stairs. As for the washcloths, I normally do the final prep before a guests arrival, but at this time I was in the hospital for a 3 week stay with 3 cancer surgeries. I trusted my cleaning staff to check those things, but they don't usually do that and I guess overlooked the count on cloths. (There is a washer and dryer with washing supplies provided.) The steepness of the driveway is an aspect that you should expect when you stay at a property located on the side of a ridge. It is sometimes part of being in a location with a view. Instructions for safely entering and leaving the parking area were provided in the directions sheet that was sent to you describing the steepness. As for the 4 night minimum, we own and manage several properties and have decided that we don't have time to run a motel. If you need a shorter stay, please choose a different property. We are very proud of City-View and sorry you didn't enjoy it. Patti & Doug
Great hospitality by owners. Great view. Great location close to all the local hot spots. And great amenities! Good communication and even provided recommendations for the area! We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again when we return.

Why the Owner Chose Chattanooga:
When we travel, we like to stay at interesting places that have been thoughtfully designed by a caring owner. When we first saw this property, it needed a lot of TLC. We knew it would be challenging, but it was such a unique property with a great view of the city and so close to downtown. We felt it was meant to be shared with travelers like ourselves who are looking for an interesting place to stay that is also convenient and private.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
It has been our goal to make 'City - View' a place for people to come and enjoy the view, the city, and the surrounding area while not compromising convenience, luxury, privacy or breaking your budget.
