MeleMele AloAlo was the perfect place for our first trip to the Hilo side of the Big Island. The tropical breezes, the moon rising over the ocean, reflected on the tidepools - the sunrise that washes everything in beautiful peach hue - surely you can have your own piece of paradise here! The appliances are great and the bed is comfortable; everything is so clean AND the neighborhood is safe and full of Aloha. Don't miss morning walks out on the lava, looking into crystal clear tidepools -- and then slide in and see the most beautiful coral and fantastic variety of fish you could ever dream of seeing in one snorkeling adventure -- it is literally only steps away. A few miles down the road is the Ahalanui "hot pond" -- a natural "hot tub" you share with families and children - and in the evenings, the locals come in for a soak! Pahoa town is a gem of its own -- the Pahoa Fish Market doesn't look like much, but when an Alaska girl says its' the BEST fish ever, that says it all! Hilo is like Lahaina was in the 60's and the Farmer's Market is great -- but the one north of Pahoa on Sunday was a REAL TREAT. Oh, to have fresh fish and vegetables every day...snorkeling anytime you want and warm soak at Ahalanui in the evenings...THIS is the life! We leave grateful and yearning to return -- a perfect vacation!

Melemele aloalo is an absolutely wonderful little house. Everything is in great repair, and all appliances - refridgerator, stove, washer and dryer, television - are of high quality and worked perfectly. For a small family, the layout of the house is perfect - enough privacy, with an open design that feels cosy, and a really nice porch and beautiful lanai that fills with morning light. The location is perfect - literally a stone's throw from the Kapoho tidepools; watch the sun come up over the ocean and plot your snorkeling route (sea turtles, abundant fish, warm water, and an actively preserved conservation district - love it, respect it, and protect it!!). The neighborhood itself is very friendly, quiet, and safe, and is nice for evening walks or jogs. Other bonuses: easy access to local farmer's markets, Volcano National Park, Hilo sights, and the southeast coast. The nearby town of Pahoa has some great restaurants as well. We appreciated renting from Mark and Ron - they were very prompt at returning all of our emails and phone calls, sent out rental and area information right away, and included a lot of great information on local sights and resources based on their personal experience as locals. Thanks to Melemele aloalo, we had one of our best vacations ever! We would not hesitate to return.
