Blowing Rock cabin description
Marrying the beauty and tranquility of a mountain cabin with the convenience of an in-town location. Modern five-bedroom log cabin in the Blowing Rock Country Club neighborhood. Two covered decks overlook a babbling brook that is the source of the New River. This is one of the few listings on VRBO that is actually in the town of Blowing Rock (with city services). It can only be rented monthly because the town of Blowing Rock does not allow houses to be rented for periods less than 28 days.
This mountain cabin works especially well for a family retreat with kids and grandparents. The lower level, which has its own driveway and can be reached without stairs, features a large master bedroom with a queen-size bed, stone fireplace (gas logs), full bathroom with a claw-footed tub and a heated tile floor, and a private covered deck. The privacy of this bedroom makes it ideal for parents.
The main level of the cabin includes a large den with a vaulted ceiling, a wall of south-facing large windows, a dining nook, and an adjoining full kitchen. There is also a second master bedroom with a queen-sized poster bed and a full bathroom. This bedroom is ideal for grandparents because they can reach the den, dining area, and kitchen without climbing stairs. The kitchen has an island where children can eat while the adults eat in the dining area. There is a second bedroom on the main level that has a double bed and a full bathroom. There is also a breakfast nook that connects to the upper covered deck with outdoor furniture, a hammock, and a gas grill (fed by gas line) with a side burner and small oven. Like the lower level, the main level has its own driveway. Entering the main level requires two small steps - one onto the porch and another at the threshold.
The third level is a loft with a balcony that opens to the vaulted ceiling. The balcony has a bedroom at each end and a full bathroom in between the two bedrooms. These bedrooms are ideal for children and perhaps a second set of parents. The second loft bedroom has a full bed and bunk beds.
There are interior stairs connecting the main level to the lower level and another set of interior stairs connecting the main level to the loft balcony. The cabin has separate heat pumps and controls for each level. Every bedroom has a ceiling fan as well; the upper covered deck has two ceiling fans. The upper covered deck is connected by a walkway to the covered porch that runs the length of the backside of the cabin.
Because the cabin is in town, the town picks up the garbage and recycling weekly. The cabin has high speed Internet via Charter and WiFi via an Apple AirPort Extreme wireless router (works with Macs and PCs). The lower level has a 32' LCD-TV and an Xbox 360 with Kinect and games. The entertainment center in the den contains a 37' LCD TV, an amplifier that is connected to built-in Bose speakers, a Blue-ray player, and DVR. The master bedroom on the main level has a 22' LCD TV and the other bedroom has a 17' LCD TV. One loft bedroom has a 27' TV and a Nintendo Game Cube with games. The other has a 17' LCD TV. The TVs are connected to cable when the cabin is rented.

ReviewsWrite a review
I can't believe I waited so long to leave my review. We stayed for two months during the summer of 2012. First this is a family home and not a "rental", so if you are lucky enough to be chosen to rent for the summer as we were.....count yourself lucky. You will love the home's open floor plan. It is a huge log cabin filled with all the comforts of home. Also it has all the technology necessary to utilize Wifi and get good cell phone service in the mountains. I was able to work remotely and stay in contact with my office with ease. We were only two people with two dogs yet found the home very cosy. Our guests enjoyed the lower level suite with its own entry and parking space. Our visiting grandchildren enjoyed the upstairs bedrooms and ample video games. We enjoyed the whole main floor and the gas fireplace in the great room when it was cold. And equally enjoyed the "treehouse" styled coverd deck when the weather was warm. This deck is where you will find the best outdoor gourmet gas grill ever! The home's location is just moments from everything in downtown Blowing Rock......a GREAT location!! We even walked to town for coffee in the mornings. This family handled our rental honestly and professionally and we do not hesitate for one moment to recommend this rental. We were treated as part of the family and can't wait until we have the opportunity to travel to Blowing Rock again to visit.

About the owner: We live in Blowing Rock during the school year and know the area well. We have four kids, three of whom attend the little school in Blowing Rock. Dad is a professor and works overseas in the summer. The family goes with him, and we rent the cabin. Blowing Rock is so wonderful in the summer. Leaving our mountain cabin empty would be such a waste.
Why the Owner Chose Blowing Rock:
Blowing Rock is wonderful, especially in the summer. We wanted to be in the town of Blowing Rock but away from the crowds. Our location is tranquil but convenient to all that Blowing Rock and the area has to offer. The cabin is just half a mile from Highway 321, but because of the contour of the land, traffic noises from 321 do not each the cabin. We are located about 1 mile from The Blowing Rock, 3 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway, 5.5 miles to Tweetsie and and 7.5 miles to Boone.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We enjoy walking to town or to Canyon's. The Blowing Rock Country Club surrounds the neighborhood. The children enjoy playing in the brook and in the mountain laurel along the brook. They have a little fort there. Mom and Dad enjoy reading or surfing the Internet on the upper covered deck overlooking the brook - and napping in the hammock - while grilling steaks, steaming broccoli, and baking potatoes (the outdoor grill has a small oven).
