This lovely home is absolutely charming. It has been restored beautifully and its incredibly high ceilings, gas fireplaces, spacious rooms and lovely decor make this a wonderful home to stay in. The listing photos were accurate and the property was clean and well-maintained. The owner was quite helpful. My group of 5 women found this home to be everything it was reported to be. It is located right across from Forsyth Park and an easy drive (less than 5 minutes) from historic downtown. Adequate street parking here is a plus. I was slightly cautious about the reportedly tiny kitchen, but it was adequate for preparing full meals while we were there, although we had to be strategic about fridge space without a full-size refrigerator. Lovely home!

The mansion was beautifully restored and the grounds were charming. The pictures do not do it justice compared to seeing it in person. However, the kitchen was very small and not at all indidcated by the pictures listed. I also noticed the property was not very clean, there was dust everywhere, the floors needed to be swept and the bathroom was not spotless. I would recommend this property to others and would consider it again for my stays in Savannah, as long as the cleanliness was up to par.

Owner response: We have strict standards regarding cleaning and sanitation. Our cleaning staff is thorough and pays careful attention to details. You can be assured that all of our vacation rental properties are exceptionally clean and sanitized. Here are some quotes from previous guests regarding cleanliness : ."The apartment was very clean and cozy. It felt like a home away from home. We would definitely stay here again!" ."We had no trouble with anything - everything was clean and organized." ."My mother and I stayed at the Mansion and it is SO BEAUTIFUL!! It was clean and quiet!" ."The house was clean and is clearly well-maintained, including a lovely porch and garden." ."The home is magnificantly kept, well laid out and "warm" no matter what time of year you stay." The kitchen in the Itallianate Mansion was designed to maintain the wonderful historic elements of the home. It is a small but efficent kitchen with an island design. There is a full size range , dishwasher, undercounter refrigerator, sink , coffee maker, microwave etc. We have recently had guests that cooked a complete Thanksgiving dinner (including a Turkey) with no problem.

My group (two couples) stayed at the Italianate Mansion for the weekend of the Rock 'n' Roll Savannah Marathon. The location was ideal as it was steps away from the finish line. It was a little over a mile to River Street, but this was fine for our active group. The Mansion itself was beautifully restored and very spacious. The bedrooms and bathrooms were well appointed and very comfortable. The two upstairs bathrooms are ensuite which is great for privacy. There is a half bath on the first floor in addition to the upstairs bathrooms. There is a large dining room and large living room. We enjoyed sitting on the side porch and hearing the garden fountains. Drawbacks: The kitchen was more of a "kitchenette" and was quite small. However, this was not a problem for us as we mostly took advantage of the variety of excellent restaurants Savannah has to offer. The noise from the street was very loud (probably due to the age of the home and the windows) and I could see this being a problem for light sleepers. There is a tv in each bedroom, but none in the main living space. It would have been nice to have one in the main living space when everyone wanted to be together and watch some of the football games on tv. These complaints are minor inconveniences however, and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a wonderful time and loved Savannah and loved the Italianate Mansion. We would absolutely stay there again, and would recommend it to friends as well.

The mansion was the perfect setting to immerse ourselves in the Savannah way of life. I loved that the location, the neighborhood. had a bohemian feel to it The Sentient bean was a stones throw away, a lovely restaurant and Bar around the corner named the Local was a great setting for a nightcap after a full day of activities. So much to do and such great food. It was so nice to return to this well appointed home and sit on the veranda have a glass of wine and people watch. The weekend farmers market in Forsythe park provided everything we needed for breakfasts and snacks. Our visit was perfect and I bring back many fond memories of Beautiful Savannah. Well done Diana thank you Pauline Lamont

The home was absolutely beautiful, The pictures hardly do the home justice. Forsyth Park can be busy at times, but the convenience of the home on the edge of the park and within a stone's throw of any downtown activities, as well as Tybee and Skidaway Islands far outweigh any noise from the traffic or the park. Diana was a wonderful host. We had lived in Savannah 20 years ago, and were returning for our daughter to look at Savannah College of Art and Design - a premier school in the south. We were able to take time as tourists, spend an afternoon at the beach, and wander through the downtown. Savannah is beautiful, and I was reminded why we moved there many years ago. All-in-all a great experience, and we would love to return soon!

My mother and I stayed at the Mansion and it is SO BEAUTIFUL!! It was her Mother's Day present to her from my husband and I. It was clean and quite! The Mansion is HUGE and more room than the 2 of us needed but I wanted her to get the full exsperience of staying in Historic Savannah and she loved it all!! The kitchen is small, as you can see in the picture, but that was the only negative it has. The bedrooms are huge with beautiful furnishing! The bathrooms were amazing but the bathroom in the bedroom with the roteiron bed was amazing! Claw foot tub and all!! The landlord was super nice and her son met us and let us in. He was very helpful with tips on where to eat and the must see's of Savannah! It was exactly the exsperience I was looking for! We had a wonderful 4 days and would diffiently stay at the Mansion again!

This home is beautiful, elegant, and conveniently located right across the street from Forsyth Park. We had no trouble with parking, and ended up walking most places. The house was clean and is clearly well-maintained, including a lovely porch and garden. For those wanting to cook while staying here, be warned that the kitchen is VERY tiny (mini-fridge only). What you see in the photo is pretty much the entire kitchen, minus a microwave and coffee maker not pictured. There was a full stove/oven and microwave, so that was nice. Plenty of flatware, glasses, etc. The small kitchen is the only reason I don't rate this property with 5 stars. We LOVED the house, and found it difficult to leave!!

Owner response: Amy Thank you so much for taking the time to give us such a wonderful review. I am so glad you loved the house and our lovely park. Our island kitchen was expressly designed to work with the historic architecture of the house and be super efficient in a small space. Our under-counter refrigerator is actually 4.3 cu ft and can fit quite alot. We have had guests cook a dinner party for eight with no problems!

We are in love with Savannah and this historic home made us love it even more. Beautiful, spacious, well appointed, designed and decorated. Free parking on the street, coffee and organic food store just steps away, an interesting social life just sitting on the porch as people stopped to chat. Lots to do and see based out of this lovely neighbourhood. We were just across from the busy end of Forsyth Park where the basketball/tennis courts and soccer fields are well used. Very lively! There was a good organic market in the empty parking lot on Saturday morning which will move in February. Very highly recommended but there are lots of stairs up to the bedrooms if that is an issue for people with limited mobility. We hope to be back!

This is a warm and beautiful home. Perfectly situated along the southern portion of Forsyth Park you are surrounded by some of the most elaborate mansions the south has to offer. While the walk to the river is approximately a mile, if you take Whitaker Street the sights are breath taking. The Sentient Bean coffee shop is within a block of the Italian Mansion and you can't go wrong grabbing something to-go at the Brighter Days Natural foods next door for relaxing or strolling around the park. We made several trips "downtown" and loved exploring the parks along Bull Street to the River and Paula Deans. The Leoci's Trattoria a few blocks from the Mansion is fantastic for an early or late dinner. The out door seating is very comfortable with a large tent and plenty of gas heaters to make for a romantic evening. Wear some good walking shoes because the cobblestone streets and old brick walks are everywhere. We found the streets very safe and took in several excellent "ghost tours" which originated in Chippewa Park. The guides were first class and you can't beat being in the Ghost capital of the USA. The pictures of the Italian Mansion do not do it justice. The home is magnificantly kept, well laid out and "warm" no matter what time of year you stay. We ran the First Savannah Rock n' Roll Marathon and being able to "soak" in the wonderful claw foot bath following the race was the icing on the cake! Thanks Diana and Jesse for being such wonderful hosts.

Owner response: Thanks for your glowing review. It was great having you stay with us. I am glad you enjoyed our beautiful city as much as we do.

My son, daughter, granddaughter & I spend 4 nights in this beautiful house over looking Forsyth Park. It was clean & well kept. We had a wonderful time walked down to riverfront one day and to the park a number of times. The owner was so nice & friendly she made us feel so welcome. Hope can come back next year. I would recommend this property to friends & relatives.

We made a last minute reservation and everything worked smoothly and effortlessly. The home had a lot of charm and old word feel but still had the modern amenities we've all come accustom to. The home is located on the south end of Forsyth Park within walking distance of most everything or you can catch the CAT bus for free to ride to the river. Parking also was not a problem and we were able to park right at the front of the home and no meter (unlike Tybee Island).

My husband, father and myself spend a week at this home and it was beautiful. Well kept and clean. The walk was about 20 minutes to anything important (ie..restraunts, shopping) and further to River Street. We slept in the bedroom facing the street and were kept awake with the traffic. Really loud at night. We also would come home during the heat of the day to relax for awhile and the owners dog would bark and howl every day the whole time. It was quite annoying. Other than that, the home itself was lovely and the owner seemed nice (only saw her once).

Owner response: Deb& Ed, We loved having you spend a week at our vacation home. I wish we had more time that week to get to know you. Both of us had extra busy weeks and I we really didn't realize our dog, Bacala, must have been having separation anxiety. We are so sorry for any annoyance this caused you, .....Diana

My husband and I, along with our daughter, son-in-law, and 6 month old daughter spent Easter weekend in the beautiful house and felt like true Savannah residents. Everything we needed was provided and Forsyth park across the street was buzzing with activity constantly. Yet we could relax on the side porch and watch the tour buses pass by. Although many of the restaurants and shops were more toward River Street, we were able to walk anywhere we wanted to go without much effort as long as we made stops along the way. Thanks for everything, Joe, it was nice to meet you and your wife. We definitely hope to return again in the future!
