  Like other guest we chose this beautiful Country Cottage because of the special structure. We never slept in a yurt before. What a great experience! The cottage is a little hidden in the Haiku area but it is only a short drive to Paia, a small town with the amazing Paia Fish Market (best fish on all of the islands!) and a very special Eco supermarket. Our days could not better start as with a wake up by the nature alarm clock each morning (all the birds singing, cows mooing in the distance e.g.). The cottage is more spacious than we expected with a cozy queen size bed, a full equipped kitchen and a living area - with nature light from the top (in the main room and the bathroom). The WIFI works perfect and there is a washer and a dryer for free. It is a little bit clammy in the evening. Notice all the cottage rules so you will not have any problems with insects. Thanks Karen for everything, especially the nuts in the welcome basket (yummy!). We warmly recommend this jungle hideaway with a “flower assembled” driveway.

  Brenda and I completely enjoyed our stay in this unique structure and setting. I have travelled all over the world but was pleasantly suprized at the yurt in the jungle behind the orchid farm. Taking outdoor showers looking into the lush forest was a real treat. Everything we needed was provided for and waking up to the chorus of birds in the morning was amazing. We could have stayed in the yurt and never left to see the island and been fine. Lloyd and Karen were great hosts and I pan to stay in touch and return in the future.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

  We chose the yurt because we thought it would be an interesting experience to stay in such a structure. Also, from a previous experience, we knew we wanted to stay on the North Shore/up-country (cooler and beautiful countryside). This being said, my expectations weren't terribly high. Perhaps this is why I was so pleasantly surprised/delighted with our week in the yurt. It was bigger than I expected, spacious in fact, and the structure itself is very attractive. But it was more than this. What the pictures don't really show is that it's tucked away at the back of the property next to a beauitful forest and amid a garden of tropical plants, orchids hanging off trees and birds singing their wonderful tunes. And because you're essentially "glamping", you feel so much a part of this peaceful place. I particularly loved listening to the birds in the mornings and the drumming on the roof when it rained. It's a wonderful, private tropical experience that you won't get in Kihea or Lahaina. When we moved for our second week to Kahana, I was disconcerted by the noise and longed for the sanctuary of the yurt. What else can I say? It was clean and had all the ammenities we required. It was attractive inside and the owners are friendly. We enjoyed going for runs in the neighbourhood each morning and retiring to the yurt at the end of each day. The drive to get there is beautiful and well worth it. We highly recommend the yurt. In terms of recommended activities, the Waihe'e Ridge Trail on the other side of Kahului is fantastic. Similarly, going hiking in the Haleakala crater is a must. We enjoyed Baldwin Beach for wave jumping and shopping in Makawao. Hana and the hike at the Ohe'o gulch are must sees (so beautiful). We also enjoyed the PoliPoli access road for upcountry views and the drive around the south-east of the island, past Kula.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

  Wow, what an incredible experience. We have really enjoyed your cottage. I am going to miss the birds and the rain sounds. We loved the shower and your cedar oil. Thank you for providing the beach things, they came in handy. You have pre thought of everything for us. We will definitely recommend your cottage to our friends & family. Mahalo.

  Although we only stayed two nights it was an excellent end to the vacation for our family. It was very quiet and we all got some very needed rest. We will always remember the experience and tell friends in New Mexico and California about it. Thank you.

  This is THE WAY to vacation in Maui. I have stayed at a very nice resort here before, but can say the yurt experience is far superior. We will be recommending it to all our fiends and family thinking about vacationing on Maui. Thank you.

  It was a very nice house, we loved it. The bed was very comfy and cozy. We also liked the outdoor shower and the smell was very comforting. It was also very peaceful. We liked the sound of the rain on the roof.

  Our stay was wonderful. Loved the outdoor shower and since I am more used to camping rough this was paradise. Mornings are blissfully relaxing and calm. Enjoyed our stay.
