The Victorian Jewel is situated in the heart of Galveston’s charming Silk Stocking Historic District. Centrally located, you will be minutes from the many attractions that Galveston has to offer. The beach is only a five minute walk away where after your day at the beach, dimmer controlled lighting sets the perfect romantic mood for a glass of wine or intimate dinner.

This 2,246 sq. ft. John Rourke home has the distinctive double gallery front porch and offers the ambience of the past and present with its beautiful hardwood floors and tall ceilings. The living room has comfortable seating and an entertainment center with a 42” TV (Satellite-Direct TV). The spacious cheery kitchen has antique tin ceiling tiles on backsplash and ceiling and equipped with all the modern conveniences of home. The dining room features a Duncan Phyfe antique table. The Victorian Jewel sleeps 6 comfortably with all SERTA PILLOW TOP MATTRESSES and luxurious bedding. The downstairs bedroom has a full sized canopy bed. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a king sized bed and the guest bedroom has a Queen sized four poster bed. The TV/sitting room is convertible to a fourth bedroom (with a new queen sleeper sofa) to accommodate an additional 2 guests for a total of 8 guests. There is a full bathroom downstairs and has an antique claw foot tub. There is also a full bathroom upstairs wth a shower/tub combination.

Start your morning with coffee on one of the two bricked patio gardens, tastefully landscaped with colorful flowers and plants and listen to the doves cooing.

Kempner Park is only 2 blocks away where you can stroll among the tall palm trees and century old live oaks. It is one of the few surviving Victorian-era parks in Texas. The park is also home to the 1880 Garten Verein Pavilion.

The beautiful echo of the church bells tolling take you back into an era of long ago. Also, if you get the chance to attend church on the island…some of the oldest churches in Texas are located in Galveston and the services are simply unforgettable

Island magic and positive energy surround this Galveston beauty built in 1860, as it is a survivor of Mother Nature wraths of Hurricanes from the Great Storm of 1900 through the 2008 Ike devastation.

Because The Victorian Jewel is located in the heart of Galveston, you will be minutes from many attractions such as the Historic Strand, museums, art galleries, great birding sites, dining and even affordable fishing charters. Family-oriented attractions like Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn and The Lone Star Flight Museum are just a short drive away.

Restauraunts abound- whether you are in the mood for Mexican, Seafood or Italian, they are all nearby. Arrange for a horse drawn carriage ride to and from dinner by calling Island Carriages (409) 765-6951.

From miles of sandy beaches to famous 19th century architecture, the island is surrounded with incredible history and unique beauty. The Victorian Jewel is the perfect place to unwind during your Galveston Island Getaway

This house is fabulous. Our only daughter was married on March 2, 2013 outside the Menard House. We used the Victoria Jewel for the bridal luncheon and our home away from home. It is wonderful. Great beds. Some of the kitchen items are better than I have at home. The bride loved having the 2nd floor suite with the television room, wonderful bed and great closet. Everything was perfect. Note for future users---the beach doesn't mean it is warm weather!!! It was 40 degrees on the night of the wedding and we were outside!!!

Six of us stayed at this beautiful historic home over Mardi Gras weekend. The layout of the home was comfortable for all of us. The location of the home was close to the Strand and a nice stroll to the beach. We would recommend this home to anyone.

We visited Galveston with our 2 young children (and brought our dogs) this summer and had a great time. The house was beautiful and felt like staying in a museum. My kids loved all the details and we had plenty of room. Great front porch for winding down in afternoon after walking back from beach. It was my first time renting from VRBO and thought the experience was top notch. Julie was great in prepping us on all the details and the house was in great condition and well stocked - many thanks

I was totally blown away by this property. It is aptly named Victorian Jewel because it is truly a jewel. We spent the weekend in this fabulous Victorian home this summer. It was all we had hoped for. The pictures are great, but could not possibly capture the ambiance of this stately home. It was as if we had been whisked away to another time when life was more opulent, yet more relaxing. Every inch of this well-maintained, immaculate home was decorated beautifully. We had every amenity imaginable. There were six ladies enjoying a weekend getaway and there was ample room for everyone. The living room and dining room were just beautiful and the hardwood floors gave added beauty to this historic home. The back yard was charming and there was an adorable little spot to enjoy early morning coffee. I would strongly recommend this property to my friends and family. In fact, we hope to use it again as soon as possible. The owner was so helpful and made us feel like we were part of her family. The gracious touches made our weekend memorable and so much fun. It is close to Pleasure Pier, the Galvez, great restaurants, and one of my favorite antique shops. Awesome stay!!!

Julie, thank you so much for sharing your lovely home. What a wonderful job you have done in restoring the house with all the comforts of home in a Victorian setting. We enjoyed the garden and patios areas. This house is close to everything we wanted to do while in Galveston - deep sea fishing, the Strand, Bishop Palace, Star Drug Store, carriage ride, the beach, Railroad museum, the Pier 21 theater, bicycling....It felt so good to come home each evening to an air conditioned homey feel. Thanks again.

This Victorian home is beautiful and beautifully appointed - the photos do not do it justice. It definitely makes you feel like you have stepped back in time but with all the modern day conveniences. I would recommend drinking your morning cup of coffee out in the 'secret garden' behind the garage. This was a great experience for our family - we all had a wonderful time and enjoyed being within walking or bicycling distance of local sights and restaurants. I heartily recommend this charmer!!

This was our second time to stay at the "Jewel" and just as before it was an awesome time! This trip was time for us to take engagement pics of our daughter and soon to be son in law. We used the house as the backdrop for many pics. The staircase, front porch, balconeys and the best ones were in the the two garden areas! We took a couple with us that had two teenage daughters and they spent most of their time at the new Pleasure Pier. We could not have had a better time any where else. This is "home" to us! Thank you so much for the use of this wonderful home! We will be back!

We had a fabulous time at this property over Memorial Day weekend! The home had plenty of space for my husband, myself, our son, and our friends with their three kids. We used the boogie boards and the umbrellas in the garage to take to the beach - great to have those! Great value for what you get.

Myself and some other moms with our kids where there for Dickens on the Strand. The beds where very comfortable. It was so nice having a den upstairs for the kids, while the adults enjoyed the downstairs living room. The home was decorated with just enough antiques to have the historical charm with stilling having the comforts of todays lifestyle. We will be renting this house again.

Our stay at the Victorian Jewel was crazy wonderful !!!! I love historic homes and this one was all that and a bag of chips lol.....beautiful home....so comfortable...I wanted to take the king bed home with me...very clean, really has a welcome feel...the two back patios were perfect for our family cook out, as was the gas grill provided....we borrowed the bikes that were made available also...the kids loved coasting around the block and down to the beach....I have to admit the bikes were one of my favorite activities also.....the downstairs bath has a divine clawfoot bathtub....the t.v. room upstairs was a favorite hangout for my teenage son....even though the traffic was crazy due to spring break we had no problem where we were located...close enough to walk to the beach, but far enough away to aviod the craziness....overall we were very satisfied with our stay and look forward to another visit...Thanks so much Julie for sharing your home
