Donna Franca Villa
Donna Franca Villa
Charming villa with beautiful property. Grapes, Olive Trees, and Sunflowers surround the property. Updated house and convenient location to other towns of interest. Spiral staircase is a bit of a problem to upstairs bedrooms. Kitchen is updated with beautiful granite counters and lovely cabinets. Pictures are deceiving because not eat-in kitchen and only 2 stools for counter. Applicances are European and no directions made it difficult to wash clothes. Clothes dryer that is listed is a rack for drying clothes outdoors. Beautiful dining room and living room with gorgeous windows and doors that open for optimum lighting. Main bathroom is updated with great shower facility. Master bedroom with bathroom is small and difficult to use due to its size.

Year Purchased: 1967
About the owner: I was born, raised and educated in Rome, Italy from a Tuscan family. My father was born in Cetona and my mother in Sarteano. I lived and studied in Rome and in the summer months, I would visit my grandparents who were residing in the lovely towns of Cetona and Sarteano. Soon after graduating from college, I married an American from Boston and moved to the USA.
Why the Owner Chose Cetona:
In 1967, my father suggested that I should purchase a country home in Tuscany because by that time I had four kids and a dog and everytime I went on vacation with my kids, I had to go either to my relatives or a country inn, where for the entire summer, I would disrupt their peaceful atmosphere and routine. My dad found this "Podere" (authentic working farmhouse) for sale and I purchased the house with 14 acres of land, but left the cows and animals to the farmer. After a year of renovations, my children and my mother enjoyed every summer vacation at the villa from the end of June to the beginning of September. Today, my grandchildren travel with me in the month of August for a month vacation and this lovely tradition continues.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
I have great fun in going to my vegetable garden located near my wine cellar in the back of the house and picking fresh produce to prepare delicious meals for my family and friends. I enjoy going shopping in the little village towns and purchasing local produce, which are found only in that area. I love to listen to music and lay out in the sun and read a book. I like my peaceful nights and waking up in the morning to the sound of the birds nesting on the roof of my house. At night, I like to entertain my friends on the outdoor patio and enjoy delicious homemade pasta paired with the wine my land produces.
