  Our trip to St. Croix this past November was beyond a doubt a great vacation--it had everything that makes a vacation truly a vacation! Top on the list was the condo at Pelican Cove. After researching and searching for options for our stay, it was clear that this was going to be a great choice. Indisputably, from the time we met the property manager at the airport upon our arrival to the time we left the condo for our flight home, we truly were beyond pleased! The property manager pointed out the intricacies of the island, steered us toward the local grocery store (to get provisions to use in the condo’s fully equipment stocked kitchen), suggested local restaurants and even recommended must-see attractions during our stay. The décor and amenities within the condo provided everything needed to make our stay comfortable, relaxing and entertaining. No wonder it is called “Home Away”; for we felt completely at home during our stay! P.S. After returning home, my friends quickly pointed out that I sang the praises of the condo as much as I did the beautiful beaches, fabulous snorkeling and delicious local rum. The central locality of the condo on the island, the ease of beach access from the condo, the short walk to The Palms restaurant, and the welcoming, friendly and gracious property manager and owners at the condo all added to its splendor. We really believe that had we stayed anywhere else our vacation would have been lacking.

  August 2012.Our family with two young adults, 21 and 19, have just had two wonderful weeks in St. Croix. We didn't quite know what to expect but found the island quite charming. With its lush tropical forest on one end to the hilly almost mountainous area on the other. There are plenty of beautiful beaches to discover. Check out the beaches in the resort areas. They are generally free of charge but some do ask for a small fee, $4 to $5. The public beaches are very nice also. The west end of the island, Fredericksted, has some very nice beaches with calm seas for swimming. The local people, Cruzians, are very friendly and were always there with a good morning, afternoon or evening greeting. Rustico is a wonderful gift store that should definitely be visited. Plenty of local caribbean gifts and souvinirs. Time to shop! You must try the local restaurants. Villa Morrales is well worth the visit.The hospitallity received from the staff is exceptional along with great food, local caribbean and very reasonable prices. Try the goat stew! The restaurant is at the west end of the island just before Fredericksted. Now the condo. Firstly, the description on the web site is spot on. Its very spacious and comfortable. We didn't need a thing. It is very well equipped and truly is a home away from home. The grounds are well kept and the pool is huge. Beware of the St. Croix crocodiles, Iguanas. Just kidding. They like to sunbath with you at the pool. Don't worry they are harmless. Fun to see though.Things to do. There are too many to list but we did the caribbean night at the Palms, next to the condo. You must do this. The buffet is great and the entertainment with the Moko Jumbies was fantastic! Treat yourself to a nice dinner at the Buccaneer. A little costly but the food, view and service is excellent. Take a kayak trip on the Salt River as we did. The guided trip was very informative and the sights are stunning! Also, a trip to Buck Island is a must. We went on the half day snorkle trip with Caribbean Sea Adventures. A great crew and captain will take care of you and even give the novices a lesson in how to snorkle. St. George Village botanical gardens along with the Whim plantation are also must sees. A look into the past of early island living. We hope to return to St. Croix very soon. We sure do miss the johnny cakes! P.S. The condo manager, Tom, deserves a special thanks. He met us at the airport and made us most welcome. Thanks Tom!

That is why we felt so compelled to become property owners here. I think we have been to almost all of the beaches. Our favorites are Cane Bay, the beach at Frederiksted and Isaac's Bay, if you are up to a stunning hike. We are glad that you took advantage of many of the unique island activities and restaurants.   Are you looking for a beautiful island for a dream vacation? St. Croix of the U.S. Virgin Islands in the Caribbean is the place and this condo is where to stay. We had a wonderful time here in January. The condo is on the 3rd floor, so the view out to the sea and to the island hills is gorgeous. The fully equipped kitchen opens up to the large dining and living room, which leads to the large balcony where we ate all of the meals we prepared at the condo. There was a nice breeze and no mosquitos. Besides the tropical splendor, the seabirds flying overhead also entertained us. We also ate at many good restaurants that have yummy lunches and elegant dinners. The grounds are very neat with lots of trees. The gardeners are very friendly and willing to help, if needed. The large pool and hot tub are a wonderful way to end the day. There are many activities within walking distance or a short drive away like beach combing, tennis, scuba diving, snorkeling, cruises, golf, historical sights and great shopping. This rather small island is fun to explore by rental car and packs in a lot of varied scenery and adventure.

  This beautiful condo provides the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy lives. The space is light and airy, and the decor carries out that theme, as you can see in the pictures. It is clean and attractively furnished, providing everything I needed while I was there. I loved driving from one end of the island to the other, seeing all the sights. A highlight for me was touring by a kayak that was powered by paddling instead of rowing. The tour leader provided a fascinating history of the island. I will return as soon as I have time and recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a relaxing time.

  Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to recommend our condo for a perfect place to stay on St. Croix. Just wanted to clarify about the kayaking. I think you meant peddle instead of paddle, but it isn't really peddling either. It is a pushing motion done with your feet - very easy! We know what vacationers need since we stay here, so far, up to 6 weeks during the year. We have really worked at furnishing this island getaway with all the items that you would need for a comfortable, convenient, relaxing vacation. We can't forget to mention we've acquired a few items for your use that will help make it even more fun for families, also.   The condo is just like the pictures, sparkling clean and beautiful, and equipped with everything you need. It was really quiet and we had lots of privacy on the balcony and at the pool. The walk to the swimming beach is easy. The condo is centrally located in the middle of the island, close to everything. So glad we stayed there.

  The accommodations and views were great! The condo was spacious, clean, private and very relaxing. The condo was equipped with everything we needed and much more. We enjoyed listening to the ocean waves all night and having the cool breezes coming through the patio doors. The whole complex was very nice, quiet and centrally located. The Palms was just a short walk down the beach for great food and entertainment too. We absolutely enjoyed our time exploring the island & all the beautiful beaches - all within a few minutes walk or drive. The island was very friendly everywhere we went. Would not have changed a thing and would love to come back. Thanks again for sharing your home with us!

  Pelican cove Splendor condo was everything the website says and more! The condo was very clean and nicely furnished. Property and building were also well maintained. Great location and very peaceful and quiet. Pool is fantastic, beautiful beach but not the greatest for swimming. We would highly recommend this property and plan to return next year!!

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

  Owner response: We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our condo and wrote such a favorable review. We stay there at least a month out of the year, so we have put careful consideration into how to furnish the condo, including what to stock the kitchen with and purchasing high quality sheets and towels. We also think the beach is very picturesque. We don't happen to swim ourselves, but we do snorkel and actually the snorkeling is good just a 5 minute walk down the beach. There are many fish in a small area. Our beach is a great beach to take a long walk on or to just relax on. One of the many things we love about the island is the many accessible beaches that are no more than a 30 minute drive away. St. Croix Splendor is indeed peaceful. The property is so serene and tranquil that you will almost forget that you have a life elsewhere. And yet, if you want some excitement the island has much to offer as far as adventure in the daytime and fine dining or captivating entertainment in the night time. We realize some people hardly want to leave the condo property if they have their way, so we have tried to make the condo as comfortable and convenient, as possible.
