My husband and I brought my parents and our puppy for a 4 day weekend on the beach and had a great time!! We loved that we walked a few steps and we were on the beach! The only negative was that we went right after a hurricane went through, so there were a lot of seaweed on the water. But it didn't stop us from having a great time! The house was clean and spacious. We would definitely go back!Recommended for: Pet owners.

We had a week booked at this wonderful property that was cut short due to Tropical Storm Debby. George the owner was WONDERFUL and VERY accommodating. The house was perfect (minus the 70 mph winds;) I highly recommend booking this property, the location is perfect and the view was extremely impressive!! We can't wait to stay a complete week next year hopefully with no adverse weather.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My husband our our 120 pound chocolate lab spent Christmas week at this wonderful home. The owner was great and reservation process was easy. The house is an older home that has been updated - very large rooms, huge kitchen, comfortable beds - just the perfect location for relaxing and watching the waves crash on the beach. Lots of fun bars and restaurants are on the island (and within walking distance from this home which was great) as well as fish markets (we loved Island View Seafood Market in Eastpoint). The beach was very clean and of course, dog friendly. All in all this was a perfect home for us to rent and we hope to make it down there again soon!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: Apalachicola native went into the military at age 18, then a career in the corporate world, now retired to the good life on the island. I live on St. George Island and run the Maritime Museum in Apalachicola.
Why the Owner Chose Gulf Beaches:
The great thing about this home is the proximity to the center of the island. The beach café, Blue Parrot, is a short stroll down the beach from the house. All other restaurants, grocery stores, curio stores, gift shops and equipment rentals are within just a few blocks. The lighthouse and park is visible from the yard and only three blocks away.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This home is at the midway point on the bike path that runs the entire length of the island. It is a two hour round trip ride in either direction. It is a short ride to the stores for grocery shopping or dinner There are other great bicycle rides along the back roads of Pine Street and other bay roads that offer great adventures exploring the older parts of the island. It is also very close to the bridge where the old bridge fishing pier is great for riding or wetting the hook.
The palm studded lot, outdoor hammock and extra large yard make this a spacious and comfortable location with a good deal of privacy. The screen porch under the dock with the nearby grill is a shady and cool respite for dining with an eight seating table and lounge chairs with ferns and other greenery.
