Loft Duplex on Private Gated Street Near to La Bastille
- Minimum stay:1 night
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This 2 bedroom loft duplex (1 to 4 people, 62 m2) is for people who have had their initial experience with Paris, who have been to all the landmarks : Champs-Elysées, Tour Eiffel, Louvre, Notre Dame, Place des Vosges, Versailles, etc., and who now want to experience « real Paris », not as a tourist, but as a true Parisian.
The flat is « modern Parisian style » : open, airy, very architectural and beautifully designed. It has been completely renovated. Everything is new. The flat is located near La Bastille (Metro Charonne), in the fashion and creative district of Paris. This area is now quite trendy, but informal and relaxed (Paris style).
The flat itself is situated on a uniquely Parisian alley: small, paved, private, gated…and wonderfully charming. Only residents and their friends can enter. The door to the flat is on a little courtyard off this alley. As you enter the flat you are struck immediately with the height of the ceiling that rises up 2 levels, and the large floor-to-ceiling window just to your right. Up the staircase are 2 bedrooms (each with a double bed) and a full modern bath with shower (large shower head + hand-held wand). Downstairs, just to the left of the staircase, is a wood dining table, a very comfortable living room with couch and 2 armchairs, and an entertainment center (including Home Cinema). The kitchen is Pullman style, faced with a wall of stone, and unusually well equipped. All appliances are new and modern : electric burners, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher …even a washer/ dryer. . The plates and dishes are the owner’s own design and have won the much coveted ‘Prix de Decouverte at Maison & Objet, and were featured at Bon Marche and Printemps. The flooring throughout the flat is oak.
On the surrounding streets are traditional cafés with tables on the sidewalk and restaurants of young chefs serving extraordinary food at reasonable prices (our favorite is Peter Nielsen’s « La Gazetta »). You are also within a 15-30 minute by walk to the Edith Piaf museum, the famous Père Lachaise cemetery, l’Opéra Bastille….. and the famous food markets : Marché Bastille (Thursday + Sunday mornings) and Marché d’aligre (every morning except Monday). You are on a direct métro line (#9) to the large department stores of Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, Trocadéro (Eiffel tower) ...
When you arrive in the flat, you will find the owner’s personal guide to Paris. Here you will discover special boutiques, restaurants, shops….hidden, undiscovered places known only to native Parisians ‘in the know’.
This loft is the perfect location from which to live and experience Paris as a true Parisian!

This is a very very well maintained loft, modern, clean, equipped with all what you need. Metro is in a 1 minute walk and the neighborhood is great (safe and lots of Bistros, Cafes, and Bakeries…). Special thanks to Ismael that was extremely kind and helped us with getting our football tickets, waiting for us on our late arrival (23.00). We were a family of 3 adults and 1 teen so we used the sofa bed as well. We all loved the loft and will surely come back next time in Paris.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in this lovely loft apartment during the last two weeks of Oct. 2012. The pictures and descriptions accurately reflect the loft's attractive appearance and its many amenities. The loft is very comfortable and the kitchen is so well equipped that I was able to make three full dinners while we were there. It was extremely attractive, clean, well-maintained, and had excellent appliances, linens, etc. The area in which the loft is located was quite delightful - great local restaurants and interesting shops, convenient metro & bus stops, beautiful Pere LaChaise Cemetery, Viaduct Arts & Crafts shops (with Promenade Plantee Park, an elevated 2 mile garden walk atop the viaduct) with nearby food markets at the Bastille and Rue d'Aligre. The owner, Karine, was very helpful during the booking process and provided wonderful information on the area. Three nearby restaurants that were recommended and that we greatly enjoyed were Le Chardenoux, La Giara, & Le Rouge Lime. The manager, Ismael, met us at the apartment, explained how everything worked, walked us around the neighborhood, & even helped us purchase our NaviGo weekly cards for the metro, bus, & bike system. He was helpful throughout our stay. We highly recommend this particular rental and its location. You will not be disappointed. Note - loft is 2 story and may not work well for the elderly or families with very young children.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The loft is sooo beautiful! We felt like home immediately because it is very well decorated and equipped. Besides all that is offered in the listing description, you can find beautiful lamps that create a very special atmosphere, monogrammed plates and mugs, soft linen and warm blankets, interesting books about tourism in Paris, french singers' CD's, a perfectely well equipped kitchen, night "tables" made out of Tin Tin and Asterix and Obelix comic books, music boxes that play "La Vie en Rose", a wonderful shower in the bathroom, laundry soap and cleaning utensils, a great TV with international channels, high speed wi- fii and so on. The owner and her son are adorable, and their good vibe is reflected on their property. The neighborhood is quiet and easy to live in. There is a convenience store right in the corner, and nice pizza and a boulangerie (for a great french baguette in the morning) half block away. We would certainly love to come back and recommend that you stay here if you want to live Paris as Parisians (not tourist) live it.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from 9 fabulous days in Paris staying at the loft. It was a fantastic place to stay! Minutes walk from the Metro in a nice neighbourhood. We have stayed in many apartments on our vacations and this was the nicest one yet! If returning to Paris I would not hesitate to stay in the loft again. If you have the opportunity try the Vietnamese restaurant up the street (I think the address is 74 rue Charonne). Get there when it opens or you'll line up outside!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This two bedroom loft is compact but perfect for a small family. It is immaculately presented and you will be not disappointed by its many features. The owner is delightful and very helpful about all the local amenities. It is located in a great neighbourhood with geat local shopping and a metro very close by. I would highly recommned this rental to anyone seeking a non-touristy home away from home. We cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Paris.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway.

I stayed in this lovely apartment for sixteen days with my husband and a friend. We had a great experience with the owner who is very hospitable and attentive to the needs of her renters. She stocks the apartment so well that there are even yoga mats and umbrellas. The area is great for finding delicious restaurants, close to grocery stores, and close to the beautiful Marais area. We were especially glad to find Septime restaurant a short distance away- where we went to have a foodie lunch. The Bretonne creperie place also has the best crepes we had in Paris. We went to the Bastille market which was great for getting Lebanese food and fresh groceries. We also went to the Monoprix and Naturalia. If you need suggestions -the apartment also has very helpful guide books and suggestions for good places to eat. Also, there is good transportation nearby. I would definitely take the bus that goes towards the Louvre as it drops you off by the Marais and also takes you down fun streets in the Charonne area. The photos do not capture how beautiful the apartment really is. The one small down side was that you can hear the neighbors upstairs in the morning, but usually we were up before there walking back and forward disturbed us. And only I heard them since I am a light sleeper. Also, the cutting knives are not very good so I would recommend bringing your own in a checked luggage or purchasing one in Paris. Overall absolutely so glad we found this apartment and I looked forward to coming home every night to relax in it.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

It is quiet and comfortable. The owner was really kind. There are many restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance and the metro (charonne) is just one block away. We just returned from 5 unforgettable days in Paris. The Loft was as beautiful as described, with all you could ever need on a short or long trip. The owner's hospitality from the moment we booked online to the day we left was nothing short of perfect. The location is ideal as we could reach all the main sights easily and quickly by metro, yet we were in a very typical Parisian neighborhood full of true local cafes and bistros, art stores, outdoor markets and of course never far from a boulangerie. We would definitely recommend the Loft for 2 to 4 people looking to enjoy Paris as much as a tourist as a local!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is our first family visit to Paris (and Europe in general). The owner has been very responsive throughout the booking process and extremely helpful in answering questions and providing tips for travellers like us. The loft description and location is precise as advertised. Couldn't ask for better location - very close to bus and metro station, plenty of local grocery, bakery shops, and restaurants nearby. The decor is fabulous - love the IKEA furnitures, and everything is working as expected. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who would want to experience true Parisian life.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
