Lovely Coastal Carlsbad Home with Private Pool and Spa

  We recently returned from a week stay at this property in Carlsbad - and I can honestly say we would have loved to stay the whole summer!! Beautiful, spacious, immaculate home - plenty of room for a family of five, including three busy boys. The street was very quiet and in a very nice neighborhood, but just minutes from various restaurants, the freeway or a drive along the beach. The interior is well-stocked with all of the basics - and everything was clean and fresh. They even left a full case of cold water bottles in the fridge and coffee/creamer for the coffee maker. The backyard is a wonderful haven after a day at the zoo or the beach - a relaxing pool/hot tub that could be heated to our liking and enough chairs for us to all eat outside if we wanted. My husband and boys also loved the little putting green carpet in the front room where they could play putting games when we had down time. Fred and Nancy were fabulous - very nice and were there waiting for us when we arrived to go over all of the basics. They had a drawer full of restaurant menus and recommended a few different ideas....I highly rate Pelly's Fish Market if you love fresh seafood, and it's just a 5 minute drive from the home, right next to the grocery store and Starbucks. We also spent a day at Carlsbad beach - very pretty, soft sand, really cool beach rocks to take home, and it was a nice touch that the owners stock 2 beach chairs in the garage for mom/dad while the kids play in the sand & water. I was also thrilled that we could use the washer/dryer to clean all of our laundry before packing to go home, which was fabulous. Overall we were just really happy with the home, the neighborhood area, the amenities, and definitely the weather. It was very hard to come home to sweltering heat after lounging around in perfect 70 degree temps!! We look forward to visiting the area again, as Carlsbad was just such a wonderful gem. We would definitely look at renting a home again, and I highly recommend this particular property to anyone looking for a relaxing, wonderful stay!!

  WOW, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HOME!!!!! I was greeted by owners, Nancy and Fred at the house and I could not believe how beautiful the house was. My first thought.... wish I lived here! Between the floor plan, furnishings, everything we needed in the kitchen, the nick-knacks, and everything decorated to perfection for the holidays. From the photos listed on VRBO, I thought I was getting a nice house. But, instead, I got a HOME, and a beautiful home to boot. The location of the house is perfect for anyone that wants to hike, hit the beach, go shopping, spend the day at the many local amusement parks, or just find the perfect little restaurant on the beach – this location has it all. We went to SeaWorld, Lego land, the San Diego Zoo and spent plenty of time walking on the beach. And if that was not enough, there was also the Pool and Spa in the backyard. The grandkids had the time of their lives swimming in the pool and spa daily, especially since they had left rainy Seattle behind! The weather also cooperated and we had sunshine all week long. I have told all my friends about this house and hope to someday to return for an encore vacation visit. Thank you - Nancy and Fred for a Christmas we will always remember.

  We are from Dorset in UK and stayed in Nancy & Fred's home for a week in August 2011, together with friends of ours who live just outside LA. The home is beautiful, very nicely decorated, much more spacious than it appears in the photos so it is a lovely surprise to find such tall ceilings, and the open plan design of the kitchen/lounge area gives a feeling of even more space! The pool size is excellent and hot tub superb, just be careful with controlling the temperature of both. Make sure you have consulted with the owners to ensure you know how to heat both adequately, especially if you get a cool spell, as we did! Otherwise, we couldn't fault our holiday. We had a wonderful stay and the owners were extremely friendly and very accommodating. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. Many thanks Nancy & Fred!!

  Our home in San Diego was too small for our family to stay with us on their vacation, so we decided to find a vacation rental for all of us. This rental was very clean, spacious, and comfortable with plenty of room for 5 adults, a 3-yr old, and 1-yr old twins. The twins slept in pack-n-plays, and the owners had one to borrow. We spent most of our time in the heated pool and spa and cooked most dinners on the grill. The Carlsbad location was perfect and just a quick drive to Carlsbad beaches and nearby beach town of Encinitas. The house was complete with everything you would need and more from kitchen supplies and linens to pool toys, boogie boards, board games, and an electric piano. The owners live nearby and met us at the home to give us the keys and show us around. They opened up their home to us and we were truly thankful for a wonderful home for our family vacation. We spent most of the week at the house and pool, at the nearby beaches, and on the hiking trails that are walking distance from the house, even shopping was convenient. There were beautiful parks, tennis courts, and playgrounds within a short drive. It was a very relaxing week and hope to rent again next summer.

  We stayed in this home in early June while attending a wedding in the San Diego area, and we had a great time. It was so nice to come back to this home after a long day of activities and lounge around the pool with our family. The home is beautiful and clean (and we appreciate a clean home) and had everything we needed. The master suite is huge, which gave my wife and I some space to spread out and relax. The highlight of the home for our kids (and me) was definitely the pool and hot tub. They couldn't wait to get back to the house to swim and play around. In fact, they would have preferred to stay home all day and play in the pool. The heater on the pool also made the swimming so pleasant, even thought the weather wasn't great the week we were there. My wife's parents stayed with us in the home, and my father-in-law has back problems which makes it difficult for him to climb stairs. The home worked out perfectly, because there is a room on the main floor with a Murphy bed and big screen TV. He was in heaven! The location is excellent, as it is very central to everything we needed. Just minutes from a Costco and several grocery stores. The home is just a few minutes from the beach, which we also loved. Finally, the owners are very friendly and helpful, and they were a breeze to work with. They were very easy to communicate with and were very responsive to all of my (many) questions. In summary, I highly recommend this home and its owners. We have used VRBO many times over the last several years, and we believe we found another gem in this home. We hope to stay there again when our travels take us to the San Diego area.

  We are from the UK and we stayed at the Krickel's property for a week recently. The Krickel's couldn't have been more helpful, their house is roomy (6 of us stayed) and the pool was just ideal - you just have to watch the pool heater as it has a mind of it's own and kept the pool really warm. The Owners stayed nearby and we had a problem with the dishwasher which was fixed immediately, we found them to be a really nice family too. We were thinking of staying nearer to San Diego but there was no need to, Carlsbad was only 25 mins to Sea World and an extra 5 mins to Downtown. Some great shopping near Carlsbad and there is enough to do for a family taking a vacation there. The sun from morning till night was always on the patio next to the pool - a great place to stay!
