We stayed a week and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The cabin is cozy and well furnished, we especially appreciated the kitchen. We had a few maintenance issues and were pleased to see the owner and groundskeeper respond quickly. So nice to get out of the Phoenix heat! We will be back to stay at this lovely cabin!

Woodsy Convenience in the Cool Pines
Woodsy Convenience in the Cool Pines
My family stayed here over Labor Day and enjoyed ourselves immensely! It's wooded and private, but still close to town. The owner, Pat, was easy to work with and he followed up as promised. His representative/maintenance guy is on site or nearby in case you run into any issues and they're very responsive. The property itself is newer, but still has a cabin-y feel and while it's small, the high ceilings and open plan make it feel bigger. We were plenty comfortable with 4 adults. The hot tub was a plus and a nice end to the day. Linens and towels are provided (you'll probably want to bring a beach towel for the spa), as well dishes, silverware, etc. All in all, It was a really nice (and cool!) getaway from Phoenix, and we hope to go back sometime!

This cabin was exactly as described, only better. My husband and I took our 4 boys and there was a bed for each of us. Everything was clean and when we opened the door we were thrilled with how it cute it was! The loft is bigger than the pictures show, so that was a nice bonus. You can easily put an inflatable mattress up there between the twin beds if you don't want 2 sharing the sofa bed. We were very happy there was a washer and dryer in the cabin and used that every day. We found all the necessary pots, pans, dishes, etc. in the kitchen to cook/bake - I even made cookies one night. The front porch has very nice seating, including the double glider - it was a great place to read and relax. The hot tub was also relaxing and was fun to use at night when all the sounds of the forest were alive. The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and the cabin. It was easy to locate from the map. We drove to the nearby lakes every day to fish. Woods Canyon Lake has boats to rent or you can fish from the big boulders on the shore. I have recommended this cabin to my friends and family and I'm sure we will return to it next year.

Great for exploring Rim Country~ not for privacy
Great for exploring Rim Country~ not for privacy
This property looks decievingly private on google maps. ( the "streets" in this subdivisions are actually driveways) We were about 20 feet away from 3 neighbors and there is no privacy whatsoever. The first day, my husband and I explored the Rim and returned to find the front porch soaking wet when it hadn't rained. It kinda freaked us out. Was our cooler leaky? Did someone break in? Nothing seemed to be missing and the cooler was fine so we wrote it off. The next morning we heard walking outside past the bedroom window and right onto the back porch to check on the hot tub. My husband went to check it out and found out it was a groundskeeper. On our second morning we awoke to someone knocking on the door to see if we were still there (we rented it for 3 nights). It was the groundskeeper again. Pat the owner was very nice and helpful and we felt good renting from him. The cabin itself is very beautiful inside with lots of personality but we would have had a much nicer time on our anniversary weekend if we didn't have someone hovering over us. It was creepy. If you are into exporing the Rim and don't mind people babysitting you this is the place you want.

Owner response: Privacy is a very intangible thing. Some can feel that they are all alone by just being on an enclosed deck and others need to not see any other people or structures to feel like they are by themselves. Our cabin setting has the privacy for a comfortable stay in the mountains, but is definitely not by itself in the forest. It is in a small commmunity of other cabins, where other guests are seeking the same escape. I stand by my maintenance man to watch over the cabin and to implement any cleaning or maintenance that is required and necessary to keep the cabin and amenities in good working order. He is cordial and always lets the guests know he is around to perform his work. I consider this to be typical and for most guests, appreciated.

Why the Owner Chose Overgaard:
We had been coming up to this area for many years and wanted a place of our own. A great escape from busy city life, and the 25 degress cooler does'nt hurt either.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The cabin is just a great place to unwind and enjoy the surroundings. Kind of like camping but with all the amenities and no tent to put up.
