This is a great cabin on a very nice lake. My girlfriend and I stayed here with 3 of our friends for three days and enjoyed every minute of it. It is a small cabin for five people if you intend on spending a lot of time indoors. In our case we only really were inside to eat and sleep. The lake is great for boating in general but I enjoyed the wide open area to water ski and tube on the main part of the lake. The great part about the cabin is it is located on a part of the lake that is not frequently traveled so there is very little boat traffic. The fire pit is right out by the water and provides for a great place to sit and watch the sunset. The only minor issue we had is the water quality was not very good in the cabin. This isn't really a complaint because there isn't much you can do about mother nature. Just a heads up to anyone considering staying here, make sure to bring plenty of bottled water to drink. Overall great stay and would recommend it to anyone staying in the Phillips Area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Our family reserved the Big Knife cabin for a couple days, for an affordable quiet vacation. The cabin was very clean and in good shape inside- the photos are a good representation. We were very excited to arrive at the cabin, but didn’t get a good first impression. We were shown around the grounds by a man who appeared intoxicated, and was a little hard to understand. There were also a couple of dogs running around most of the time, and would jump on our kids when we walked from the car to the cabin. Unfortunately we also had to clean up after the dogs. The cabin is located behind owners house, and the owner and his friends were outside around the cabins much of the time. The first night we were there, we were inside having dinner, when owner walked by the window and said hello, wearing nothing but boxer shorts and a straw hat. While the people and dogs seemed friendly, we avoided spending much time outside, and went into town instead. Overall, we were uncomfortable staying here with our small children.Recommended for: Age 55+.
Owner response: I am sorry that you did not find the property up to your standards. A couple of days is hardly enough time to get to know the local folks. We are truely "north of highway 8 folks!" Our hired help, Mark, does have a speech impediment, or drawl, has a pony tail, as well, Dan the owner, does wear a strange looking straw hat. All in all we are frienly folk. Despite our outwardly exotic appearance, we are down to earth, friendly folk, and don't be surprised if we pop in, take a stroll past your cabin, and perhaps say hello through the window. The property itself, has over 400 feet of frontage on the water. This is plenty of room for the owner, residning next door, to occupy his private 2 docks, as well, provide 2 other private docks, well spaced for the cabins. We are dog friendly and at times you must watch where you step. The owner is available for maintenance, boat and motor rentals, jet ski rentals, and it is a good thing! On occasion, we do reserve the right ot have a beer or two! This is how we roll! Happy Cabin Hunting!
