LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION are said to be the three most important considerations in identifying desireable real estate. On Sanibel Island this can be further defined to VIEWS, VIEWS and more VIEWS in selecting your vacation home.
At our unit 3A3 at Ocean's Reach Resort, we think we have a combination of location and view that can't be beat. Our unit is only 25 feet from the beach, an amenity hard to find anywhere on the Island. Located almost exactly on the elbow of the Island, the views from the beach offer both inspiring morning sunrises and spectacular evening sunsets. With limited development on both sides, the atmosphere of tropical remoteness and serenity is enhanced.
With 1000 SF of living space, the unit comfortably accommodates up to 6 people. The screened lanai overlooks the short walkway to the beach and the Gulf. There are many amenities, typically found only in premier properties. These include being professionally decorated and furnished throughout, with solid surface kitchen and bath counter tops, 42” HD flat panel TV and DVD player in the living room and 21” flat panel TVs in each bedroom, ceiling fans in all rooms and the lanai and reliable, hi-speed, wireless internet access.
We make personal and family use of the condo 6-8 weeks each year. As such, we furnish, decorate and equip the unit to the standards required to make it a comfortable second home. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances. You will also find an ample supply of dishes, cookware, utensils, dishtowels and other kitchenware to meet all your needs. The dining room comfortably seats six and opens to the living room, the lanai and the spectacular ocean view. The master bedroom has a king bed and there are twin beds in the second bedroom and there is a sleep sofa in the livingroom. All linens and towels are provided and there is a washer and dryer in the unit. We try to include as many staples as possible so you don’t have to run to the store as soon as you arrive and don’t have to buy a month’s supply of something for a one-week stay. These include items like soap, toilet paper, dish and laundry detergent, paper towels and much more.
The complex has 64 units in 4 buildings, located on a quiet, secluded dead end street. Its midpoint location on the Island makes for a short drive to Periwinkle and the center of Island shopping. Exterior amenities include tennis courts, heated swimming pool, gas grills, shuffleboard, basketball court, covered parking, beach chairs and other beach games and toys. We also have four adult bikes available at no additional charge. The beach is famous for the variety of shells that are found and the surf is generally gentle and slopes gradually, making for a great swim area, especially for small children. With limited development on both sides, the atmosphere of tropical remoteness and serenity is enhanced.
If you have never been to Sanibel, we believe you will find it to be a uniquely tropical vacation destination. If you are a returning visitor, we invite you to consider our Sanibel home for your vacation. In either case, we believe you will be very happy with your choice.

First, this is a nice complex, well kept and clean. Nice, quiet area, but an easy drive to retail areas. The complex is on the beach and our unit overlooked it. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. Down the stairs (or elevator) and a very short walk to the beach, with broad sand, lots of shells and great places to walk. The unit was redone a few years ago, after a hurricane and everything is new. We had everything we needed right there, including a laundry, several tvs, a nice balcony and plenty of beautiful views. A very nice place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Greetings, Just wanted to let you know that we really enjoyed our recent stay at your unit in spite of the horrible weather for the first several days. Unit was exactly as portrayed - great view, exceptionally clean, quiet, and well appointed. As I am told that I sometimes have a unique perspective of things, I also really appreciated the convenient location of the assigned parking. Once again, thanks for helping make our stay at Oceans Reach such a positive one. CyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

May 14, 2012 Dave - We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your beautiful condo last week. We could find no fault whatsoever. It is not often that we can say everything was better than expected, but your condo certainly fits that description. The size is perfect and the view of the Gulf was so peaceful. This was easily one of the best vacations we have had in recent years. We look forward to coming back again and again!! Best wishes, Tom and LorraineDid you find this review helpful? We had an awesome time at your condo on Sanibel. The check-in and check-out process was simple and the people in there were most helpful suggesting restaurants etc. It's extremely beneficial to have the check-in on the property. We especially enjoyed the use of the bikes and all the other equipment in the storage locker. Your place was well maintained and extremely clean and comfortable. I only wish there was a way to get rid of the noseeums!! Haha. We will definitely look to stay at your place again when we return to Sanibel. DianeDid you find this review helpful? Dear Dave and Sandy My friend and I have used your condo on multiple occasions over the years. It’s always a pleasure to walk in and look out at the ocean view, open the doors and windows and let the breeze come in . . . the relaxation is so needed during our winter vacation. We always find the unit in tip top shape. It’s so nicely decorated . . . and I love the TV cabinet with the glass shelves and the various sea shells you’ve found over time . . . lovely. I enjoy puzzles and will work on one while there . . .no rush, no hurry. I’ve also left one behind in the hope that someone else will enjoy working on it during their vacation time. I love walking the beach and picking up shells, and my friend, Joyce, feels great relaxation lying in the sun on the beach. When the breeze is a bit much, it’s nice to go to the pool there, which is somewhat protected from the winds . . . but still affords plenty of sunshine and relaxation. It’s nice to see familiar faces when we come back year after year. I love the layout of the master room and bathroom . . . it’s bright and cheery. Being able to just walk out a slider onto the lanai is another benefit. I don’t even mind waking early to watch the sunrise – which I can do from the bedroom or the lanai. Stunning! I have many wonderful pictures. Joining others on the beach at sunset is a special part of the day . . . watching the beautiful sunsets and enjoying the friendly chatter with other guests. We look forward to future trips – and thank you for sharing your lovely spot with us. I love Sanibel Island, and hope to return again this coming year. Very truly yours, Kathy Westford, MassachusettsDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Hi Dave-- We really enjoyed staying at your condo and would be happy to return another time. The photos you sent were accurate of the building/condo. The view was still fantastic and one of our favorite parts. We could see the ocean from the front bedroom, living room/dining room and even the kitchen as we cooked! The condo and bldg. facilities were impeccable. You may remember we were debating between your complex and Pointe de Sanibel. We had a chance to visit Pointe de Sanibel and your comparisons were very accurate. The complex looks more resort-like, the condos were larger, but the beach and (small) pool was shared with all of the guests from their very large complex. We preferred the tranquility of Ocean's Reach. We were visiting at a time when Sanibel was not that busy, but while your pool had just a few people at most, Pointe de Sanibel had almost all of their chairs taken. I can only imagine what it would be like during a busy season. The bikes were an added bonus-- the whole family really enjoyed biking around the island. The condo was just perfect for us, enough space in the bedrooms, kitchen and living space. Muchas gracias!! we had a great time. AlysonDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dave, Thank you. Staying at your unit was fantastic. We had stayed at the Sanibel Inn and a couple other places like it in the past. They were nice but this was a much better experience. We really loved the location, view, etc. and it was so nice to be able to prepare a meal rather than having to go out to eat all the time. The washer and dryer were nice too and that meant having to bring less especially with the airlines charging for bags now. I honestly cannot think of anything you could do to improve the unit. I need to also add that the staff was friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be contacting you when we plan our next trip to Sanibel. I have also checked out your place on the Outer Banks and am interested in trying to do something there with the family possibly next spring. RichDid you find this review helpful? Just a note to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay in your Sanibel condo! The location couldn't have been better--close to everything by car or bike, but private and secluded as well. The decor in the condo was charming and up-to-date, and right next to the elevator for loading and unloading, The views of the beach were fabulous! The beach itself was beautiful and loaded with shells--I had to buy two tote bags to bring them all home! And finally, you supplied everything, right down to bicycles, beach chairs, and umbrellas! Most of the other units required separate rentals for these items. We appreciate all your attention to detail and your friendly attitude as well! Thanks so much!! We hope to spend lots of time in your condo again in the future! CindyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: Hi, my name is Dave Herrick. My wife Sandy and I live north of Boston and we have owned this unit since 2004. We have been coming to Sanibel for over 25 years. We owned a condo in the 80s which we unfortunately sold in 1992. Ever since then, we have been hoping to be able to someday re-establish an ownership position on the Island. Our desire is to establish a high quality, well maintained unit to which our guests will want to return to, year after year. During the 80s we made Sanibel our annual vacation, usually over the Holidays to coincide with school vacations for our three boys. Sometimes we had Christmas trees and boats in tow. Sometimes it was grandparents joining us to escape the Boston cold. On every occasion, it was a trip we all looked forward to with excitement and anticipation. My kids learned to swim on Sanibel. This is where they saw their first alligator in the wild. We took daily bike rides on the miles of bike paths and explored the wildlife at the numerous sanctuaries. Sometimes we just walked the beach at low tide and talked about whatever interesting shells or other sealife we found. Overall, Sanibel became a very special place in our lives. It became a place we all enjoyed together; a difficult concept to achieve in a diverse and growing family. During the nineties, we missed our southern sojourns, but with the kids involved in school activities and moving on to college, it became increasingly difficult to schedule family trips. Interestingly, with the kids now through school and embarking upon their own lives and careers, they have rekindled their own memories and attraction to the Island. We have enjoyed this new phase in our lives and look forward to continuing to share our Sanibel home with our children and with other new and returning visitors. Dave and Sandy Herrick
Why the Owner Chose Ocean's Reach:
DESCRIPTION
Sanibel Island is a tropical paradise located near Fort Myers, on the Gulf Coast of Florida. If you are looking for a South Florida vacation and you like world-class beaches in a relaxed tropical environment, Sanibel must be on your list of vacation destinations
Our ocean front unit is only 25 feet from the beach, an amenity hard to find anywhere on the Island. Located almost exactly on the elbow of Sanibel, the views from the beach offer both inspiring morning sunrises and spectacular evening sunsets. With limited development on both sides, the atmosphere of tropical remoteness and serenity is enhanced.
We have been coming to Sanibel for over 20 years. The ride across the Causeway is like a passage to another place and time. The miles of bike paths throughout the island, the endless variety of small specialty shops, the fine variety of excellent restaurants, the abundance of nature preserves and other outdoor activities and the opportunity to enjoy live theater and the arts all contribute to this mystique. Perhaps what Sanibel does not have is as important as what it does possess. There are no traffic lights, no high rises and no sense of urban congestion.
If you have never been to Sanibel, we believe you will find it to be a uniquely tropical vacation destination. If you are a returning visitor, we invite you to consider our Sanibel home for your vacation. In either case, we believe you will be very happy with your choice.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Without question, the greatest attraction of Sanibel is its beach. While other beaches may have better or more sand, higher dunes or other favored characteristics, there is something about the total tropical experience of walking the beach at Sanibel. The combination of magnificent views and a shoreline that brings a new population of shells with every tide is rivaled only by the grace and beauty of the pelicans and gulls in the sky. The dolphins playing in the surf produce a serenity and solitude that is unmatched anywhere.
If outdoor sports are your priority, enjoy the three island golf courses and several championship courses nearby. Tennis courts are available at no charge and there are miles of bike paths on Sanibel on which you can explore the Island on the four bicycles provided at no charge. For the nature lover there is the Ding Darling Wildlife Sanctuary offering rare sightings of tropical birds, alligators and other wildlife. There is also The Bailey Tract and Tarpon Bay, which have nature trails, mangrove canoe trails and other interesting exhibits.
