Wow...I dont even know where to begin. This place is AMAZING!!! For the price you pay, its unbelievable! I am very very picky when it comes to finding a place to stay, and of of course our budget. I will spend weeks researching and spend lots of time looking at lots pictures to determine if its a clean place because Im very afraid of bugs. This place is spotless clean! Also the place is very big and homey. There's even a fireplace, a rare thing to find in Hawaii. Cold places in the Big Island would have only a heater, but this place has a heater in each room and a fireplace in the living room. Cant even think of anything this place doesn't have. It's just minutes away from the volcano national park, winery and a golf course. I would definitely recommend this place!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

What a perfect place to spend part of our 50th anniversary trip. The house is elegant yet cozy. The grounds are beautiful and the birds a special treat. Our younger grandchildren had fun exploring "the woods". Everything we needed is here. The art work and special touches are delightful. What a great place to come home to after exploring the park. I even had time to sit and read in the garden surrounded by birds. And, we won't forget the breakfasts--delicious!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This cottage was the perfect place to bring our children. The kids were all very comfortable and the Moms greatly appreciated the cleanliness, details, amenities and the warm and welcoming feel of the home. Every detail down to the Williams-Sanoma hand soaps was a delight. Joan at Country Goose is a gem! She is so warm and friendly plus the breakfasts were one of the highlights of the day. Thanks so much for sharing your place with us. We stayed here once before several years ago. We enjoyed our stay just as much this time. So many things to do & see it is hard to decide where to start. We always spend a lot of time in the park and in Hilo. Thanks Joan, it is always great to see you! We will be back soon! We have stayed in many houses in the Volcano Village over the past 25 years and I must say that Pukeawe Cottage has been one of the most delightful!! Charming, beautifully furnished and very welcoming. It feels good to be here and explore the park yet again. Showing the area off to an 11 year old grandson and 11 year old great nephew. Mahalo and we will be back again. Bill & SYRIN, Molokai, HiDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Year Purchased: 2001
About: Mike and I are 30 year residents of the Big Island. We have always loved the Volcano area and spent a lot of time camping and staying at different B&B's in the area. We purchased Pukeawe Cottage in 2001 and then within the next few years we were able to purchase the lots on both sides of our house giving us almost an acre of land. Much of the land was over taken by invasive species and we have worked hard to clear the land and replant with natives and non invasive plants. We feel very proud of what we have created here and hope our guests enjoy the park like surroundings.
Why Volcano:
We chose to buy our future retirement home in this neighborhood because it is secluded yet close to all the things we enjoy. Hiking and biking and working in our gardens are things we enjoy when we visit our home in Volcano and we look forward to doing more of it when we are able to retire. We are both very busy small business owners in Kona so we cherise all the time that we have at Pukeawe Cottage.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You will be visited daily by the birds that drop in to be fed. We provide the food so
you can enjoy their presence.
