  Had a fantastic stay in this beautiful apartment very quiet & relaxing we were able to cook in the apartment or have a BBQ in a pleasent area, very tropical location and our stay of 10 days went far too quickly. Neil and the manager Murray were extremely helpful with our requirements and prompt to answer our emails. Would highly recommend families and coulples to take up this offer of accomadation.

  We had a relaxing, wonderful stay at Oaks Lagoon. The apartment is just as described. I could not believe that I could swim from my patio; it was so delightful, and the water temperature was perfect. There are seven long, narrow pools. The apartment provided all that we needed for our 3 day stay. The owner was friendly, responsive, and easy to work with. He said that the staff would take care of us and that all would be ready when we arrived. He was absolutely correct. The staff was very helpful in many ways. We enjoyed cooking on the grill in the common area. The landscaping was a tropical paradise. The apartment accommodations met our expectations and were comfortable. The only negative for us was that it was a very long walk to town, but most of the nicer places did seem to be away from town. There are a few close places to eat, and the beach is a 5-10 walk. Depending on the time of year, you may not be able to get into the water at the beach, but that would be true anyplace in the tropics, not just at Four Mile Beach. It was a surprise to me. There was no free WiFi, but the internet charges were the least expensive of anyplace we stayed in our 5 week trip. There were only two of us in the apartment, but it could accommodate more people or the studio next door could be rented. If I ever go back to Port Douglas, I would definitely stay here again.

  Our family of five stayed here for four nights in late June. This was our first VRBO booking. It was also the first VRBO booking for the unit owners. Neil was very responsive. The unit was clean and roomy. We had all of the the comforts of home including the equipped kitchen and washer/dryer. The unit has a bedroom with a king size bed, a bedroom with 2 twin beds and another room with a sleeper sofa. When we arrived the sofa was already made up as a bed. The kitchen is open to the living room. The living room has a sofa and chairs for watching tv. There is a second tv in the king bedroom. TV channels are a bit limited, but if you are a rugby fan there always seemed to be at least three channels of rugby. I would much prefer CNN. The kitchen was well equipped. We cooked several dinners at home. By USA standards restaurants are expensive in Australia. We did have a nice dinner at the Beach Shack that is less than a five minute car ride away. There is a Coles grocery in Port Douglas about 5 minutes from the unit. The "downtown" are also has numerous shops, bars and restaurants. The pool was a bit cool during the Australian winter. Our kids, ages 7, 9 and 14, liked the pool connected directly to the patio, but didn't swim much. The complex itself also seemed well maintained. We only went to the beach one day. It is a 10 minute walk. It was nice, wide and sandy. The surf was fairly calm. The water was not clear. I saw photos of clear water from the same area so it may have to do with the time of year? We spent one day going to the GBR, one day in the rain forest and one day at he zoo & aboriginal cultural center. We selected to go on the Calypso to the reef. I thought the Quicksilver looked a bit like a zoo. We had maybe 40 people on the boat and had plenty of room to spread out. The kids really enjoyed snorkeling. The water was 72 degrees. That is really cold to me. For the rain forest tour we booked with Tony's Tropical Tours. It was a long 10 hour day, but really worth it. Our guide Chris was great with the kids. We all learned so much more than if we did it on our own. We went to the Cairns Tropical Zoo. The kids were able to hold Koalas for photos and hand feed kangaroos - a highlight of our 2 weeks in OZ. After the zoo we had lunch and then headed to the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park just outside Cairns. We attended several shows and lectures. The kids even learned to throw a boomarang and a spea

Cancellation policy:

BOOKING & ARRIVAL PROCESSES To confirm your reservation an amount equal to 50% of the total rental fee will be charged on the credit card you provide. The remaining 50% will be charged during your stay at the resort. Please ensure sufficient funds are available for these transactions. A confirmation e-mail with reservation no. will be sent to your nominated e-mail once the booking process is complete. Check-in is after 2pm on your day of arrival, however should you arrive earlier luggage storage is available and you are welcome to use the hotel facilities. Reception is open from 7am - 7pm daily. PLEASE ADVISE if you will require AFTER HOURS check-in instructions. Check-out time is prior to 10am on your day of departure. Should you require a later check-out, please contact Reception on the morning of your departure. Please note late check-outs are subject to availability and additional fees may apply. Valid Federal or State Government issued photo identification must be presented on arrival with the credit card supplied at the time of reservation. Upon arrival a credit card pre-authorisation of $150 will be taken as a security bond to cover any incidental expenses incurred during your stay. We do not accept cash as a payment for the security bond. Please note: Unused funds from credit card pre-authorisations will clear within 10 working days. CANCELLATION POLICY : cancellations made outside of 30 days prior to arrival will incur no penalty. Cancellations made within 30 to 7 days prior to arrival will incur a cancellation fee equal to the 50% of total stay deposit paid. Should you cancel your reservation within 7 days prior to arrival or fail to arrive as confirmed, a cancellation fee equal to the total accommodation charge for this booking will apply. RENTAL TERMS & CONDITIONS 1. The price given is for the number of guests that have been indicated on the dates selected. Additional guests will be required to pay an extra per person per night rate of $37.00 2. Children 0 -12 years occupying the same room/unit with at least one adult and using existing bedding are Free of Charge. Additional charges will apply if extra beds or linen (including rollaways, sofa beds or cots) are required. All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or an individual over the age of 18. The property has the right to refuse any booking when the legal parent/guardian over 18 cannot produce current photo ID. 3. Quotes and reservations are subject to availability and actual pricing at the time of booking. Any verbal quote given is an estimate only of the price, which will be subject to written advice on confirmation of the reservation. 4. A confirmation email will be forwarded to your nominated e-mail once the booking process is complete. 5. The person affecting a booking shall be deemed to have accepted the booking conditions on behalf of all persons named in that booking. 6. Whilst we attempt to satisfy all special requests, we are unable to provide a guarantee. 7. Upon arrival at Lagoons Resort, guests must provide valid Federal or State government issued photographic identification for security purposes. In addition, the Guest must also provide a credit card in the name of the photographic ID to secure the accommodation. A Credit Card pre-authorisation is required to cover incidental items including (but not limited to): mini bar, telephone calls, breakages/damages, excessive cleaning charges above the normal level of cleaning due to the apartment being left in an unacceptable state, etc. This may also include an amount to cover a security bond / deposit for damages. The pre-authorised amount is set aside by the credit card company for a period of up to 10 working days (release times may vary, please check with the issuing financial institution). The pre-authorisation will affect your available funds balance or spending limit. For more information on this practice we suggest the cardholder contact their issuer. Once a pre-authorisation has been made, we cannot release, remove or lower the authorised amount, until we process the final account on departure. This is a restriction placed on us by the bank, and cannot be negotiated. Oaks Hotels & Resorts reserve the right to pre-authorise all credit cards upon arrival. Please note this process validates the presented credit card, and protects both the cardholder and merchant from increasing fraud incidents. Cash is not an acceptable form of bond when staying with Oaks Hotels and Resorts and a valid credit card will need to be presented on arrival. 8. Conversion into foreign currency is given as an indication and is not binding. Only the currency confirmed during your reservation is confirmed. 9. For rates allowing it, you may cancel your reservation according to the conditions for that rate. Please see at the end of this document your relevant cancellation and amendment conditions. To cancel your reservation, please contact your selected property direct. 10. All Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited rates do not include transport from your home port to your destination and return, items of a personal nature, meals (unless specified), transfers and existing or proposed taxes and government charges, unless otherwise indicated. 11. In the event of a situation whereby Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited cannot provide accommodation as previously confirmed, for whatever reason, Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited will undertake to relocate guests into an alternative Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited property of equal or better grading at no expense to the guest. Should there not be a property of equal or better grading in the vicinity of the original booking, it may be required to provide guests with a property of a lesser grading. If this is the case, any reduction in costs will be refunded to the guest. The alternatives offered are at the Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited discretion. Should the guest wish to choose a property of a standard other than offered under this condition, then the guest will be required to pay any difference. 12. Whilst the utmost care is taken to ensure that the description of facilities and services of Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited is accurate, these are continually being changed, upgraded and on occasion taken out of service. If any feature/facility is essential for the guest in choosing a particular property, it is advisable that the guest checks with that property at the time of booking. Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited cannot be held liable for omissions or errors whether temporary or permanent of a property’s facilities and services. We suggest that the policy include, but not limited to, the following coverage – loss of payment through cancellation, loss or damage to personal baggage, loss of money and medical expenses. 15. Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited can sometimes include third party products in special packages. As an agent on behalf of this product or service Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited shall not be liable under any circumstances for any failure by those service providers to fulfil such travel arrangements nor for any error, alteration or change of any kind made by those service providers following the acceptance of the booking by them. All coupons, vouchers, receipts and tickets are issued subject to the terms and conditions specified by those service providers. If cancelled within 28 days of arrival, the first nights accommodation will be forfeited by the guest. b. Last Minute Bookings – bookings made within 28 days of arrival date: i. No cancellations or refunds are permitted to these bookings. c. Last Minute ‘Flexi’ Rates : i. Cancellations or changes to these bookings must be made at least 48 hours prior to check in date and time or the first nights accommodation will be forfeited by the guest.
