MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY OF THIS HOME IS 8 GUESTS.

An On Site Boat Rental is Back this Season! We've launched a service that promises an even greater vacation. Guests now have the convenience of a boat rental option with special rates established just for them.

This property sets a new standard for vacationing on Kentucky Lake. With a total renovation complete, at 2450 square feet the home becomes the model for the optimum vacation experience in the area.

The façade of this ideally positioned, traditional lake home is a perfect melding of Craftsman Style and Cedar Shake. Before even stepping inside one first senses its coziness. The warmth of the natural red cedar says welcome. The exterior accents of stained glass windows and lighting with more rich complementing colors confirm the kind of quality that signals the start of a very special time away for family and friends is about to begin.

Its very close proximity and gentle slope to the water are not the only reasons it delivers such an unrivaled experience on the Lake. Outstanding features and location are factors contributing to its distinctive standing. Unlike the resorts and rental homes in crowded coves with heavy boat traffic to which so many visitors to Kentucky Lake have grown accustom, here is a vast, open, peaceful vista across the main lake of the Land Between the Lakes.

Once inside it takes just a glance out of any of the numerous windows and doors for guests to know they have the ultimate vantage point. From the main deck, hand laid stone patio, and rooms on both levels, visitors find their attention drawn to the pristine blue water. It is so close that when rising in the morning, dining throughout the day, or just relaxing, one is struck by the familiarity of taking in the view from the balcony of a cruise ship. In reality this view is from a three bedroom, two and a half bath escape.

Upstairs is one of the home's two kitchens. Spacious, well equipped with a walk-in pantry, stainless appliances, granite countertops, and an Italian tile floor. The kitchen joins the dining room with hardwood floors and a unique raised stone fireplace. The combination makes for a large friendly space where many great meals are enjoyed surrounded by walls of windows facing the lake.
It is hard to resist dining on the deck, however. From the branch of a surrounding tree a Bald Eagle may preside over a meal or casual break, but he is just part of the attraction. There is also the advantage of being even closer to the water, nature, and potentially, the greatest calm in which to relax.
Upstairs are found two bedrooms with lake views. One comfortably accommodates four with two full beds. Another has a queen bed, private half bath and its own large sliding glass door with direct access to the deck and the soothing lake view. The primary bathroom on this level is striking with an eight-foot, modern, custom designed shower stall, entirely clad in marine blue tile. It has a built in bench, shower heads at either end and body jets.

The downstairs is reached by a spiral staircase. Numerous windows ensure the lake continues to be the focus. Here, the master bedroom features sliding glass doors with a direct prospect of the lake. Its occupants may choose to step out onto the patio sitting area or remain in the comfort of their queen bed to find themselves inspired by the captivating morning sunrise, promising the perfect start to the day. One wall with interior arts & crafts style stained glass windows adds a dramatic architectural detail. This accommodation has access to a walk-in closet with a front-loading washer and dryer, as well as a full bath.
The main living space looks out on the water – the smallest of needs have been considered and met here. A massive eight-foot granite bar and an additional full kitchen outfitted with cherry-wood cabinets and stainless appliances provide all of the tools needed to entertain on the lower level with ease - it is the backdrop to the living room. Furnished with a great arrangement of comfortable seating – here is an area ideal for a special reunion that will remain etched in the minds of all who attend.

When the time comes to hit the outdoors guests will agree that a thoughtful process of considering what features make for the best waterfront experience has brought many conveniences with this new deluxe dock:
The Fishing Possibilities at the dock are exceptional with a great population of bluegill, bass, crappie, and catfish.
As for the Access - Here there is no steep slope or long trek to your boat. Being only seventy feet away, step out the door and be on the dock in a minute or less. In two minutes you can be at the concrete boat launch.
Coverage and Quality are Redefined – Equipped with an attractive and highly functional hip roof, superior protection from the elements is ensured. It has one 24 foot covered slip and enough additional parking for Two Cruisers. Not only is the aluminum decking non-slip, but it is splinter free. There is electricity for charging trolling motors.
Then, there is the Relaxation & Recreation – If after a day out you return full of the sense that exploring and playing on the lake can be both fun and hard work, here is the place to reflect on the day you have had and contemplate tomorrow’s plans. This is not just a location to store your boat and gain direct access to the lake. If you are not planning to bring a boat this visit, having a 12x28 swim platform complete with a retractable ladder makes this the spot to share a fun and rejuvenating break lounging, sunbathing or swimming.

A Boat Rental on the Property: A 115 horsepower, ski/ fishing boat is available to guests at special rates. It is one more convenience, and can add hours to vacation time on Kentucky Lake. There is no drive to and from a marina to collect and return a boat. For a rental over multiple days how great it is to have the driving completely eliminated. Imagine instead the pleasure of a sunrise breakfast ending seamlessly with a stroll across the lawn to board the boat that awaits you at your private dock. Effortlessly, straight from the comfort of your home a day out on the lake begins.

Upon arriving at the property at the 4 pm designated check in time the property was not ready for rental. The cleaner was extremely nice and helpful, explained they were running behind. We got into the property by 4:30p and began our exploration. The description and listing photos are accurate. The inside of the property was clean and well maintained. The lights under the kitchen counters were inoperable. The night lights were inoperable. We bought new bulbs and installed. The outside needed some TLC. The grass was overgrown causing a large mosquito problem. We live on a lake and know they are more abundant but, the overgrown grass likely became a great place for them to lie in wait for unsuspecting guests. We bought tiki torches, OFF, and citronella candles this helped somewhat. There is a sewage leak in the back of the property between the house and the dock. It began to really put out a foul odor on day 3 of our stay due to the warmer temperatures. The owner did cut the grass and mowed right over the sewage leak and did nothing about it during our stay. The lounge chairs on the deck where covered in bird feces which we cleaned twice.I guess things happen. The windows on the lower level were so dirty you could not see well out of them so we cleaned the windows. The path from the upper level to the lower level and the path from the driveway to the property was overgrown. We rented the boat during our stay to do some fishing. Unfortunately, the boat was dirty and we had to clean it as well. The hours of the boat rental do not coincide with fishing particularly well. After speaking with the owner, he did allow us to take the boat out at earlier. The depth finder is not functioning well as part of the screen is damaged and unreadable. The owner does offer a refund if inclement weather prevents the boat from going out on the lake. It rained one of our rental days until 2pm and the owner did give us a half day refund. Rained for 7 hours of rental time, sprinkling for 2 hours of rental time and we could have reasonably taken the boat out for the other 2 hours but, we did not. We were disappointed with the refund as the boat stayed in dock all day which the owner can see from his own property. Lastly, the location is beautiful could not ask for a better spot.

Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Owner response: We were happy when you called saying you had such an enjoyable stay here last year, you wanted to return again. We were pleased to see you when you arrived, though it was at 2:15pm & the actual time for the house to be ready is 4pm, the house cleaning wasn’t yet finished. We immediately redirected the cleaner from what she was doing to ready the refrigerator for your perishables. You then sat on the deck enjoying the view. Our time spent to welcome you & make allowance for your unforeseen entrance cost at LEAST 15 mins. of cleaning time that would’ve ensured 4pm readiness. Cleaning was complete at 4pm; you entered then, the only remaining task - to put fresh towels in the bathrooms. This was done by 4:15pm, but if uninterupted, would have been by 4pm. For things within our control we can make adjustments - responding to an early arrival, extending boat rental hours at no added charge & refunding on a boat rental with unsafe weather. We refunded fully the security deposit on the home, not deducting for additional cleaning. The day you departed the cleaner focused on the home, while we, the owners, covered the perimeter picking up cigarette butts that were discarded randomly - spots with a dozen or more. Things not within our control tend to be driven by Mother Nature: National Weather Service records indicate prior to your arrival our area experienced in excess of 15” above average rainfall, completely saturating the ground & creating an array of issues, one being a major mosquito population throughout Western Kentucky. Repellents are a good deterrent. With interior & exterior lights on in the evenings, insects are drawn to the windows & the lights around them, resulting in build up on the glass. This is cleaned for arrival, but within a few days the process can start again. With many species of birds, a passerby may periodically leave a dime sized dropping. If there are droppings on the deck furniture, they are cleaned for arriving guests. We haven’t ever experienced chairs on the deck being “covered”. The boat rental - We gave you a complimentary 8 hrs of extra rental time. It rained for half a day, we refunded you for that. Customers are here to relax & spend time as they choose. If while renting our boat they don’t get on the lake that is their prerogative. We can’t see the home from our own, nor can we see its dock. Our number is posted in the home for customers. We are happy to address maintenance issues that might come up.

My family stayed over Memorial week-end and if you love fishing and relaxing this is the place to be. House was great, but you will spend little time in it, because the deck has a view that you can sit and look at for days. House has a spiral staircase joining the upper and lower level of house that could be problematic for older people but we had an 88 year old with us and we just gave her the BR on top floor. Owners were great to work with. House is everything it claims on internet. Be sure and stock up on food before settling in, as closest store is between 6 and 10 miles away. Loved our stay.

The photos of the eagle with the fish in it's claws was taken by my daughter, such an amazing sight for all of us. We saw eagles daily while we were there and even went on an Eagle Watching Tour at Land Between the Lakes, saw 26 in one area. We had stayed in the cottage in the past but loved our time in the house, so spacious and perfect for an unspoiled view of the lake. The house has everything you could possible need for entertaining and there is so much to do the area, we will be back again as soon as possible! And they allow well behaved dogs, a huge bonus for families with dogs.

We rented here so the women could go to the quilt show in Paducah and the men could fish. Lovely home and furnishings. Everything you need. Owners met us and explained everything and live right next door. The setting is lovely and we were there in time for the spring flowers. Only drawback is the spiral staircase if your knees are bad. However, there is a regular staircase on the end of the porch and if mobility is a problem you can stay in the bottom floor with all the amenities you need. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone. The area has many interesting small towns to explore and the state parks are wonderful.

Owner response: Thank you very much for visiting the Cedar Shake Home during the Paducah Quilt show and while the spring flowers on the grounds were in bloom! Annually, it is a popular time with both of our vacation homes being visited by devoted quilters and their husbands who are equally enthusiastic about fishing. It was a pleasure to greet you all upon arrival. With the property being a total of 17 acres, in minutes we can be at the Home to welcome new visitors. We appreciate all of your positive feedback. It is convenient that the home’s layout is ideal if a guest has limited mobility and should find the stairs to be a challenge - both levels are equipped with full kitchens, full bathrooms and bedrooms. One can remain on either level and have everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Each level can also be very easily accessed from outside with a wheelchair if the need be. Thank you very much for recommending the home to others, and we hope you all will be back for another quilting/ fishing vacation!

We love to getaway, have stayed in many rental homes and resorts, this place ranks at the top. The eight of us agreed, the experience is personal, like having friends we all envy because of their great home offer to let stay while they are away. It is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. The original photography hung throughout is a great touch. There are many comfortable options inside and out to gather round or take a break alone with a book. It was a major bonus to have two full kitchens with a party of eight, and two huge refrigerators. Upstairs was ideal for breakfast and dinner. The downstairs kitchen with a bar served very well for snacks, lunch, and appetizers! It feels like a caring friend has made sure anyone coming to stay will be relaxed and know that their well being is the is the priority. There are many specific items the home is stocked with that make it warm. From the moment we inquired about staying to the day we departed the owners were incredibly gracious. We rented the deck boat they have available, it was top notch. When renting boats on vacation in the past we’ve had to find a nearby marina, go and get a boat that might not be of great quality and deal a long list of restrictions. This is a whole new and very welcome arrangement – as we were finishing breakfast on the deck Paul arrived at our dock with the boat. Pam gave us great pointers on visiting Land Between the Lakes. It was under 15 minutes to get there and we had a great day. Other than that excursion we didn’t want to go anywhere and leave the best view of any place we’ve ever stayed! Our first visit to this home was with the intention of visiting Kentucky Lake - Kentucky Lake was a major bonus. When we return next it won’t be so much about the destination, as it will be to revisit this magnificent property and have a time like the wonderful one we just did!

Just want to say thanks again for another very enjoyable visit. It was our third visit, but our first November visit, and we left relaxed and rejuvinated as usual. The house and view were just as wonderful as we remembered them to be, and peaceful. We will back as soon as our schedules permit!

We visited the owners other rental, the stone cottage last year. This time we came back with more family and decided to try this larger home of theirs. It was wonderful! My sister and her family in IL came down to meet us. These properties are the first we’ve rented where we found such privacy. So often there are other homes too close for comfort in every direction, but not here. We enjoyed walking the beautiful, relaxing grounds, and the surrounding area with the dogs. Whether you are outside or inside looking out, remarkable views are everywhere. You are just so close to the lake! We really took advantage of the private boat dock – caught several fish. We rented the boat they have for visitors. It’s a quality, very comfortable boat, we were surprised by how little fuel it used, not dealing with the whole back and forth with a marina was a major bonus. Don’t know where to begin on the ideal layout of the house and the generosity of the owners with the quality of the furnishings, amenities and all of the little extras they have provided. With toddlers along we made great use of the high efficiency washer and dryer – we’d have been lost without them!! We are already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you so much for another very special and carefree vacation.

We just got home and I had to write what wonderful hosts Pam & Paul are! From the initial inquiry about property, Pam & Paul made you feel like family coming in for a visit. The pictures of this house on line do not describe how BEAUTIFUL this house really is in person and welcoming. Everywhere you looked in the house or yard, there were little touches making it very personal and inviting. EVERY amenity in the home was upscale, yet practical. If you forgot to pack something, chances are it was already there and ready to use. The stars are amazing here at night and not something we get to see from this perspective living close to a major city. We did rent their boat and followed Paul’s and the owner of “Baits N More” advice on the best fishing spots and were not disappointed in the least. Within minutes of dropping line, fish were biting. I am training for the Goofy Challenge in January and asked Pam for some good trails or routes while there, she did not disappoint and picked out a great paved route. NOTE THOUGH; if you ask her to map something out for you and the guide shows “steep hill” believe her! We don’t have hills like this in the Chicago area, so the challenge of the trek was very rewarding! Already going through withdrawals of the view, but looking forward to coming back again soon. Maybe even an annual excursion, but bringing the kayaks with next time to check out some of the little coves along the shoreline. Aurora BBQ was yummy & Willow Pond was very much homestyle food & friendly service. THANKS Pam & Paul for a wonderful place to call home for a few days. Our dogs slept hard every night from exploring and barely moved on the ride home.

This home is absolutely wonderful. It is stocked very well, clean, and is exactly as described in the photos. The lake views are awesome. You are just a short ride to Murray for a full service grocery. We docked a boat and found that very convenient. Many nights we cooked on the gas grill. One night we did eat at the Willow Pond in Aurora and it was very tasty. I can't wait to return again and enjoy rest and relaxation of the Cedar Shake Home.

                      Why the Owner Chose Murray:
Having been raised on Kentucky Lake I can’t imagine life anywhere else. I don’t take for granted how fortunate I am. Now sharing all the lake offers with others is extremely rewarding for us. Hearing from first time visitors that Kentucky Lake is so much more than they imagined it would be makes having developed our properties all worth while. After completing several projects, both commercial and residential, my interest in architecture is combined with that of assuring a great vacation.
